Weirdness and Water

OK, I sorta take exception to the word 'wackiness.' It just doesn't fit within the parameters that I want to get across here. But, it was necessary to make the alliterative title work (a better word would be something like 'random,' but that didn't work out with any other relation to water I wanted. Ah well.). So, let us get to my day, shall we, now that that is out of the way.

Period 1 was English, and it was a period of utter randomness. Tan was given his report, as he wasn't here yesterday, and it mentioned the word 'gregarious' on it. A quick check in the dictionary found that it meant something similar to 'travelling and acting in packs.' This made the whole class crack up, as it was a rather sneaky way of Hancock's to say something like that. For the rest of the class, we tried to work out ways of sneaking the word 'gregarious' into ordinary situations, which was rather funny (at least I thought so.). Period 2 was Maths, and we started a new topic (I know, I know, we are still doing work, and it's bloody well annoying. Why are we doing work? Who knows. It's crazy like that.). The topic was parabolae (parabolas? The plural of parabola, anyway, which is basically a curve wherein the basic formula is y equals x squared. Wikipedia can hopefully explain.). Recess was just talking.

Period 3 was Drama, and Kolodziej announced that the whole Michael Jackson tribute thing was to be postponed until February or March, for reasons that were unclear, but accepted (I mean, there were very little people actually writing the script, and not that many who were going to be here on the day of the performance, so postponing it was a good move in my decision. So I spent the period playing DS, and even Kolodziej didn't object (he saw me and just commented that I should be playing 'Guitar Hero' instead.). Period 4 was Commerce, and we got into a discussion about the death penalty, and it seems as if everybody in the class is against it (of course, that's Australia. Take it to America, and they'd be all for it. It goes with their gun laws. Or, lack thereof.). Lunch was the usual.

Periods 5 and 6 were double PE (jees, I haven't written that in a while. Weeks and weeks...), and we did something new: swimming, which we hadn't done in PE for quite a while (not since last year, I don't think, although I could be wrong.). So we got in and got changed, and then we went to put flippers on. I have now concluded that flippers hate me, seeing as the first pair were too big, and the second pair were just right, but fell off anyway. Oy vey. However, soon I was ready, and we started off by having races (I am apparently one of the fastest in the class. Sweet.). We then played water polo, and the team I was in lost. It was still fun, though. When the water polo game was done, we pretty much just mucked around for the rest of the period, although I did have a panic attack at one stage. Damn them. And later, I blogged, although not that much. So here I am.

That was my day. I am trying to post on schedule once more, but it's coming along at a steady pace (which, quite frankly, is not enough.). So, expect a frenzied rush of posting soon, as I try to get back before the 300th post. That tends to happen (or rather, that probably will happen.). Be prepared for it; I'll have to be.

Damn this massive broken schedule,
AB

A Manic Monday

Allow me to say that that is not such a lame title, I am quoting (probably misquoting) from Futurama, and specifically, Love and Rocket (I'll let Wikipedia explain, if you are one of those poor individuals who hasn't seen Futurama.). Anyway. Now that that's over, I can get to my day, so that this post isn't so delayed. Assignments, remember (although I wish I could forget)?

Mum drove me to school, as we left late and otherwise I probably would have missed my train. However, due to the car travel time, I actually got to school early, so I was able to do a bit of my assignment at school (I sent it to the school's computers just in case). Period 1 was Maths, in which we did some Maths stuff that looks difficult but was actually somewhat easy (did you know that the square root of 8 multiplied by sin 15 equals the square root of 3 minus 1? Neither did I!). One of the boarders (I think her name is Zoe) also came to our class for some reason. No idea why. Period 2 was Drama, in which we went to do some acting out of a scene from 'King Oedipus.' (I keep calling it 'Oedipus Rex,' if only because of the Tom Lehrer song. Listen to it on Youtube.) Remember on Thursday when I was doing that assignment? Turns out we were supposed to be practicing for this very performance. Goddamn! Luckily, Cam and I didn't have to do it today, and the scene we picked out isn't particularly difficult. Recess was talking, and cards.

Period 3 was Commerce, in which we went to a seminar in the library about how we should study Law at the University of Wollongong, much like the Thursday before last when we did the same for Ag. It wasn't a bad presentation, but it got sort of rambling towards the middle, and the person started speaking in a bit of a monotone. Although, based on their presentation, it sounds like a really good Uni. Anyway. Period 4 was Science, in which we went back to the library (I know; again), and did some work on my Science assignment (OK, this is utterly ridiculous.). Corinne, Lana and I also talked about our Ag presentations. Apparently mine was 'epic.' I know it sounds like I'm bragging, but... I am. I'm proud of my Ag presentation, man! Lunch was the usual, although we did talk a lot about movies for some reason. It also led to Shafi asking us if 'The Lion King' was Japanese. Oy vey.

Period 5 was English, in which we watched a lot more of the movie 'Shine.' It's getting really good; I would recommend it. The best thing is that the guy who acts like he's had a mental breakdown, Geoffrey Rush, also plays Barbossa from 'Pirates of the Caribbean.' I swear, you would never realise that they were the same person; they don't look or sound the same. At least to me. Period 6 was History, in which we did some work on Gough Whitlam, and how he was ousted (ousted is a weird word. I mean, look at it. Anyway.) in the constitutional crisis of 1975 (let it not be said that I don't learn anything in class. Although, in all fairness I did know that beforehand). I got home at about 3:30, and after a lot of work on my assignment, it was time for hapkido.

Shaylee had work today, so she didn't go. But Shirisha was there today, although she came just in the nick of time. Beforehand, I handed in my attendance card, signature sheet, and $35 to the front desk, so that I can get my orange belt. It's only a matter of time now! In the class today, we started off doing catches and all that, and we did starjumps for the first time in a while. And in case you're thinking, 'Well, they're only starjumps,' try doing 120. On a hot day. In a long sleeved uniform with long pants on. Hapkido gives you quite a bit of a workout. About halfway through, though I had another panic attack: and I refused to let it show. So I pushed through it, and sure enough, I got it to stop, even in the middle of exercise. These are good signs, people. And when I got home, I blogged, but not enough. Ah well.

Comments now (yes!), 1 from an anonymous person (even though I think it's pretty obvious who it is):
*Anon: I know assignments are more important than computer games, Dad (lol). And I do agree with you about balance. You know what they say about all work and no play. I laughed when I read that 'breaking things' crack (pun intended); that's good.

And that was my day. Sorry about the late post, though I've already explained this and shouldn't have to explain it again. Probably. Anyway. I'll try to get back on schedule, but assignments come first, I'm afraid.

Hooray for comments,
AB

Rough Wednesday Work

Try saying that 5 times fast! (Answer: I get to 'Rough Renswenswen...' at about the fourth try.) This title started off as something bad, but it got better when I realised it worked very well as a tongue twister. So I'll use this one. Anyway. Let's see my day, which, as you can guess, involved some rough work (...on a Wednesday).

Period 1 was more computer work on the Geography assignment, which is finally starting to take form. It's not finished; I'm gonna have to do some at home (it's only roughly a page, so it isn't that much). But for an assignment, I'd say that I'm doing this pretty well. I will hopefully not leave it to the last minute, although, you know, that just might end up happening. Ah well. That type of thing is to be expected, I suppose. Period 2 was Science, in which we analysed the result of the experiment yesterday with falling balls and acceleration and all that. And we came across an odd result: the acceleration due to gravity was about 15 m/s² (that little squared symbol there involved more work than it probably should have). Which, if you're a science nerd like I am, is odd, to say the least. It should be around 10 m/s² (well, 9.8. But you get what I mean.). So, either something somewhere has gone terribly wrong, or we have revolutionised the field of science with one experiment. Recess was the usual.

Period 3 was Ag, in which, like last period, we went out, got the hoes, and went to dig some more for our potato planting. And when we got there, well, let's say that we weren't too pleased. Sheep had been let out in that area, and they went all over our land, destroying our hills and giving us some smelly souvenirs in our trenches. So we had to fix our land up, while avoiding anything that came from the wrong end of a sheep. We did a fair bit of work, actually. Lunch was 13 and 31.

It was then Sport time, and unlike the last few times, we did rugby. Oh, joy. And I wasn't too good, to say the least. They got me to kick for some reason, and then they said I kicked too far. I didn't know there was a 'too far.' I was also doing really good, in my opinion: the ball was near the boundary line, so I ran towards the ball, going over the line while keeping the ball in (like in AFL), and I was dashing towards our forward
line (I insist on saying that instead of try line); when they said that that wasn't allowed. At that point, I just gave up, and Kevin and I became 'emergency defenses,' which sounds good but involves hanging around back waiting for people to come our way. Soon, we were substituted in, so we went to play cards for the rest of the day. Good times. After school, I talked to Ebony, and around 6:55, we left for hapkido.

Shay's diabetes was playing up on her, so I had to go alone. Class itself was pretty good, as one important thing happened: I could do my other back roll. Repeatedly. As in, I don't just do it, then fail the next few times. Every time, it works. It's not particularly glamorous, or refined, but it works. So I'll be going for my signature on either Monday or Wednesday (of next week). Something else also happened. I had a panic attack, for the first time since April (link to relevant post). Which may seem bad, but it had a silver lining. I had an onset of heart palpitations, and as soon as I sat down (as in, within a second), they stopped. That's a good sign for times to come. So when I got home, I blogged, although not enough, unfortunately.

This was my Wednesday. Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair! ...I felt like starting the last paragraph differently, and I like that quote (allow Wikipedia to fill you in). Anyway. Hopefully, tomorrow's post won't be late, but we'll have to see. Things may come up.

I actually like this title,
