Do you enjoy bad puns? Then you'll love this one (even I think this one was terrible.). Basically, I'm referring to 'It's the law.' I was considering 'Taking the Lawn Into My Own Hands,' but that was a bit long. I didn't really feel that I wanted it. Good pun, bad title. Anyway. Let's have a look at what happened in my day. Cue the non-existent theme music!
I woke up at around 8, and played some cards with EJ, as he really wanted to play (I didn't want to disappoint him that much. I mean, I didn't mind playing.). After doing a lot of chores, I then sat down to watch a little TV, and play some more cards. Around 10, though, we were sent out to do the lawns, after a misunderstanding that we had in the game (that always seems to happen. It's probably due to the rules; they do get a bit contentious. Or, more likely, EJ and I are both equally as stubborn and absolutely sure that we are right. You know, it's probably that last one.). So I went out, getting my iPod, of course (when you're doing repetitive work that doesn't involve that much higher thinking, it's really good, if only to keep you occupied on something. Hell, I've listened to my iPod when brushing my teeth on at least one occasion. Note: attempting to sing while brushing your teeth does not work.), and I went to whipper-snipper the front lawn. And then we got onto the back lawn, which we were supposed to do next weekend, but we did it anyway. It saves us doing it later. Halfway through, though, the whipper-snipper ran out of wire to cut with, so Dad just went up to the shops to get new ones, so I finished off the actual mowing. Then it started raining (it sorta seemed like that type of day).
At that point, though, I had finished the mowing, and when Dad got back, he pretty much said that because it was raining, we were done. And so, seeing that we were done, I figured I could finally get some study for the School Certificate in. Of course, you can't study too well for English (you have to be good at writing and comprehension and so on, not actually know stuff. It's even more skills-based than Maths.), so I did study for Science, going over all the Year 9 stuff. I think I am ready for the exam. So, when I was done, I watched a new series that Dad had just bought the first two seasons of, 'Two and a Half Men.' May I say that it is hilarious? I think I can. It is very funny. I then blogged, although I didn't catch up. Damn. Ah well. So, here I am.
Let us now reply to comments, with one by Mango, who has been commenting a bit recently. Thanks, Mango!
*Mango: Yeah, yeah, I know. I really gotta charge it more often. I tend to let it run out of battery first; I'm not entirely sure why.
That was my Sunday. Trying to catch up, and failing. Trust me here, I'm giving it a shot. It just doesn't seem to be working. Soon though, soon. Anyway. Tomorrow is the English and Science School Certificate tests, and whether or not they count for anything, I'm still gonna try to get good in them. Well, obviously.
Bring on the School Certificate,

Floriade, The Festival of Flowers
That's right, I refer to Floriade (doesn't that sound like a Pokemon? I choose you, Floriade! Anyway. Enough of my nerd-like ways.), which is, according to Wikipedia, is gigantic for tourism in the ACT (proof). I have actually never heard of it, but Mum and Nanny have. What it is, in essentials, is an annual festival where they plant flowers in patterns, as well as having other stalls. I know that sounds bad, but it wasn't a really good explanation. Anyway. Yes, it is also an alliterative title, and I'm not especially happy with it, as I was with the last two. Well, without further ado (and I am going on a tangent a bit here), to my Sunday.
I got up at around 7, and got ready for the day (by 7, I think I'm referring to the new time, what with daylight savings and all. But I can't really be certain.). We left at about 8, and when I got out of the car, I noticed something: it was freezing. In hindsight, yes, I should have expected this (it is Canberra, after all), but I kinda figured it was spring and the sun should be out. But I was wrong, and it was cold. We waited for about 30 minutes, and then we went in. We first had a look at some stalls, and then we went to see the flowers. I wasn't particularly impressed, as I just saw the different coloured flowers (at which point I was thinking: 'Oh. Flowers. When are we leaving?'). However, after staring at the flowers and their corresponding signs (they had signs next to the groups of flowers), it gradually dawned on me: they were planted to make things (TV Tropes might call it Fridge Brilliance). They had a chessboard; an eye; a yin-yang symbol... from then on, the visit to Floriade got a lot better.
However, it started to rain, of course. Not pelting down, but not sprinkling either. That rain that you can bear, but only just. We did find some other exhibits, as it transpired that it was not just a flower show. We saw some bonsais (as in, the plural of bonsai. It looks weird in plural.); and they were pretty damn good. Not like the one I got a few years ago, in Japanese, which was 5 cm tall and got eaten by the dog. We also made a detour, after getting something to drink, to a Nintendo stall, which turned out to be a tent full of Wiis (again, the plural of Wii). It turned out that they had Mario Kart on the Wii, and of course, EJ and I had to play. I am proud to say that out of the three games we played, I came first out of 15 players (one of them EJ, one of them me, the rest computer) three times. After that, we went to a sports thing, which turned out to be a Little Athletics thing. Or at least some sort of athletics-type obstacle course for little kids. EJ, being EJ, goes 'That's easy!' and tries it. With hilarious results. He was going well until he tried to jump over some bars. He jumped on the third-last one, fell over the next one, and with a thud, came to earth with the last bar over him. It was hilarious. What made it even funnier is that immediately after, a 2 or 3 year old kid did with apparent ease. It totally made the trip worth it. We then bought some stuff (EJ bought a skull stamp and 4 of these long lollies. I got one as well, because I figured while I was there I might as well.), and went home, but not after stopping by the local shops to pick some stuff up.
About an hour after we got home (which was mainly spent reading), Uncle Nudge and his daughter Darcie (I have been referring to her previously as 'Darcy,' as I've never seen it spelt. I shall attempt from now on to write it as 'Darcie,' but no promises.) got home. So we played with her as a while (you really can't help yourself sometimes), and then the NRL came on. Everybody else began to watch it (even EJ!), so I was able to go on my laptop and do stuff for a while. It was mostly Spore, but it was more fun than watching the rugby. And for the rest of the night, I mostly just watched TV and went on my laptop.
And that was my day. Sorry about the late post yet again, but, well, I'm sure I've explained this before already. Anyway. I am going to attempt to really get back on track, but nothing's certain. Anything can happen.

Storms and Seminars
As usual, back to alliterative titles. The alternate title was 'Pouring and Presentations,' which means essentially the same thing, but it was more like a seminar than a presentation (the one about the rain would have just gone to match with the last word). Six of one, half a dozen of the other, really. Anyway. Yes, it's a late post, but that's only because I had an assignment. Well, I suppose society had a hand in it as well...
Before school, EJ gave me a maths puzzle that he got in class, and was supposed to do in 5 minutes. It took me about 15 minutes, and I got fractional numbers (as in, 3/17). My guess is either he gave me the wrong question, or the teacher had no idea what was going on. Period 1 was Science, in which we did this experiment with a ticker-timer (Wikipedia doesn't seem to understand, but what it actually is is this little device with a hammer. You feed ticker tape through, and 50 times a second the hammer goes down, marking the tape.). I was with Courtney and Shirisha, as they offered and their group didn't have enough people in it. We were just trying to figure out how much things accelerate due to gravity (9.8 m/s², but we're attempting to get that result ourselves). Period 2 was Computer Maths, in which we went onto the computers to do some stuff for trigonometry. We used Geometer's Sketchpad, so I'm happy. Recess was cards.
Period 3 was a presentation in the library, by a guy from Sydney University, as well as another woman and a student. He had come to tell us all about the spaces available in such positions as veterinary scientists and agricultural economists. And, as you might think, it was boring as hell. The woman was alright (she was talking about horse nutrition, and made it more exciting than I would have guessed), but the guy talked in a monotone for the entire thing, and the student looked like he didn't want to be there. Period 4 was Ag again (it was a double), but this period we went out to do some more hoeing. I, however, used it as an excuse to listen to the Tom Lehrer album on my iPod that I had completed. And it therefore was not a bad period, although towards the end it did start to rain. Lunch was 31 with Kevin in the music rooms, then going down to the computer labs in the DT block to get my jokers from Mango, who had stolen them.
Period 5 was English, in which we got yet another assignment (Goddamn!). This one doesn't seem too hard, but it's still annoying. There was also a big thing going on with the guys next to me, with Hancock labelling them 'monkeys,' and accidental hilarity ensuing when Ben said that whoever bought Andrew's bag was gay, then later saying he had bought it for him. Yeah. Period 6 was History, in which we did another one of those pre-tests. I swear, these are getting way too boring. After school, after making my way through the pouring rain, I finished the assignment we were doing in class, thank god. However, unfortunately, I didn't get to blog, quite evidently. So this is why it is late.
Such was today. There may be some late posts still to come: that is because my schedule has been neatly and completely thrown out of whack. I'll see if I can get it back (hey, that rhymed!), but I'm not going to say when because even I don't know. We'll just have to see.

Running, Rain, and a Presentation
Yes, more titling difficulties, and a late post. A very late post. As usual, I blame society. Anyway. Today I ran around a lot, in the rain, and later there was a cricket presentation that ran until 6. It was that kind of day.
I woke up around 7:45, and I had to get ready for my brother's footy game. We got there around 8:30, and I promptly spent some time, for some reason, playing handball with a golf ball (hitting a golf ball with your hand hurts. Though it's better than my brother, who tried headbutting it and came off the worse for the deal, to say the least.). When he went to get photos done, I wandered around for a while, then went to see Shay, Heather and Jess in the canteen. We talked about nothing for a while. After that, I went to sit down and read for a bit, while listening to Queen on my iPod. Of course, that couldn't last long, as I have become the runner for EJ's team. So when the game started, so did I. Except, it was raining. And when I say it rained, I meant it poured. Positively bucketed down. So I ended up running along one side of the field, in the rain, and every so often, doing a throw-in. Around half-time, though, it started to slow up, so I was able to get at least partially dry. And to top it all off, the other team didn't even have a boundary umpire. It kept raining on and off for a while.
When his game finished (and he won), and after Mum had left for the shops, Dad, EJ and I dropped by KFC, on our way home. At home, Shay's family stopped by to give Dad and EJ their birthday presents. Then, around 1:45, we all left for our Cricket Presentation. I brought my iPod and my DS. For the first part, I just watched my brother play some DS, and then I started to watch some Abridged. I also then played some DS. Around 5, they started the actual presentations, and at 6-ish, they called our team up. In that, my Dad announced something that took everyone concerned by complete surprise, except my family: no more cricket. When the cricket season starts, I either have to hapkido or cricket. I cant do both; 4 days a week in Year 11 is just too much. So the choice was between hapkido and cricket. And I chose hapkido. In life we have choices, and this is mine. On a less philosophical note, my Dad messed up by saying I was doing the HSC next year. So for the rest of when I stayed there, I had to keep telling people that I am not actually doing the HSCs for a while. Then, at home, I blogged about Friday.
To comments now, 2 from the 2 commenters I had before The Strike. Yes, it's been capitalised.
*Ebony: Suckiness is the noun. Not suckage. I refuse to give up my beliefs on slang for no apparent reason! And there was more then one commenter today. And thanks for reminding me about the journal.
*Victor: Where?
Well, that was my day. More late posts, I know. I have to stop this weekend procrastination. I'll stop. Eventually.

Rain, Rain and More Rain
Yes, more titling difficulties, it was a fairly average day. Except for the fact that it just kept raining. When I woke up it was raining, and it didn't really stop until about 12 hours later. But anyway. To my Wednesday, which may be the last school day I have this week. I will get to that in the last paragraph.
I got to school, and I immediately noticed the absence of two people: Ian and Victor. Ian showed up when the bell went, but Victor wasn't here. Huh. Role Call was reading 'Animal Farm,' and also getting a sponsorship form for the Walk-a-thon. I'll probably get my Dad to take it to work; they're going to sell the Memorial Forest, and my Dad's in the Navy. Plus, the person who raises the most money gets a prize, and the highest class gets a free trip to Luna Park. Epic win. Best school prize ever. Period 1 was Science, which was doing a brief amount of work, and then marking a few things. Mostly just some sheets. Basic stuff. Next was Computer Maths, or it would have been if the computers had actually been used. The point of Computer Maths is to use computers. How does Rawson not understand this? What we actually did was get our Maths results back. I got 34/39, which I'm happy about. There were some questions that I just stuffed up, and one on a topic we haven't done for months. But, it's about 87%, and I'm good with that. We also did some work on compound interest. This topic just seems to be calculator work.
Recess was the usual. I had good hands today; it's a welcome change. Period 3 was Ag, which was just writing some stuff down from the board, and answering some questions. They were poorly written questions, so we couldn't do much without pointing out that there were was no way of showing this without completely lying about the figures. So I got bored, and started to draw one of the people from the school diary. End result: good for me, bad for everyone else. That's not to say it was good to me; I tried drawing a girl and ended up getting a thing with a turban. It was supposed to be hair. It wasn't great. But, I know I'm not the best drawer. Everybody knows this. Lunch was also the usual. Then, since it was raining, basically everyone from Year 7 to 11 went down to the hall to watch a movie. We played a hand of 13, then actually watched the movie. It was 'Night at the Museum,' which has got to be the first decent movie they've shown. We ended at the part where it looks like Adam Sandler is about to be defeated. I have to see that movie again. Then, after school, I got home, did some work on my English assessment, and went on MSN for a bit, before I played some DS. Then, around 6:45, it was time for hapkido.
In today's lesson, we had Grandmaster Geoff, and he worked us fairly hard. There were a few memorable events: the return of the 'ball of death' (his name), which is simply drop it while running around and everyone gets some sort of exercise. We also did some killer stretching, and later we did some work on back-rolls and self-defence. I am getting there with back-rolls. I can do some, but I still need some practice. We also did some self-defence, and towards the end we all tried some unorthodox ones, like belt grabs and other strange ones like that. In one belt grab, I tried to turn out of it and the belt just span around me. That was funny. We finished around 8:15, and I got home around 8:45, after we (Jo, Shay and I) passed McDonalds and got sundaes (mmm, strawberry sundaes...). Then, when I got home, I started to blog. Unfortunately, however, I did not get to post in time. So here I am, around 7:30, blogging.
To comments now, 1 from 1 person.
*Shafi: I wasn't sure it was you, no. And in answer to your question, the belt above white (the one I am now) is orange. So I'll be trying to promote to orange.
Well, I'd best sum up. Things to do. I'm off Thursday; it's due to the orthodontist. All will be explained next post. Friday is a SDD, Monday is a public holiday, so that's a five-day weekend: awesome!

A Brief Respite
Meaning that I've had a short break, from exams specifically. Thursday is Maths exam, Friday I think is non-calculator (not that I get told anything), and then the only thing close is the English assessment, which is still 2 weeks away. So celebrations all soon. But not now.
Before school was talking to Victor, John and Ian, but then when Ebony came over, it was all-hands-to-stations, as I follow new procedure and walk away. Probably for the best, I think. Period 1 was English, which was listening to a tape and reading from the book. This part was the part around when Banquo gets killed, and the acting was actually OK. Not great, but not bad either. Next was Maths, which was watching some videos, as well as doing an extremely brief amount of work. It was much of a bludge, and when Faulds went to turn the computer off, he clicked 'Shut down and install updates.' So what happened was a small message appeared on the screen: 'Installing update 1 of 50. Please wait until the updates are installed before shutting down your computer.' The whole class cracked up laughing, and Faulds just turned off the projector; the computer was still installing. I expect it's still installing now.
Recess was 13, with John, Kevin, Victor and Eric, and the most amazing thing was that I won with my highest card being a King of Spades (though, in all fairness, I did have a quad Jack. But still.). There was also much annoyance with John playing his 4 to 10 before I played my 3 to 9, and also much hilarity as it turned out that in one round, I had a 3 to 5, John had a 3 to 5, and Victor had two of them. Which was funny. Period 3 was Drama, which was us acting out our Drama mini-play from yesterday. To put it concisely, we sucked, with much improvising and bad timing resulting in Amy having to ad-lib while Rutherford made his way out of a box. I ended up just falling to the ground after cracking Amy's neck (don't ask); I wasn't told what I was supposed to do. The next one was much better, with Jayson, Shane, Kale, Tri and Oscar all in one group. Shane does the best voices, in this one he was a Jamaican. Great accent. Jayson was also a Jamaican at one stage, before realising he wasn't supposed to be. Hilarity ensued (yes, that's hilarity twice in one paragraph. Now three times.).
Lunch was yet more 13, with me, John, Kevin, Andy, Eric and Victor, to memory. After John and Eric left for tennis and Victor left for Ebony, Kevin, Andy and I played 31. We also noticed that Hamish and Andy's Andy Lee matched up perfectly to Andy Pham and Kevin Lee. That was funny. Also, as it was raining, just like last Wednesday, we all went inside and watched a movie. This movie, someone strangely, ended up being Cars, and we finished about the part where there is no satisfying conclusion at all. Part of the plot had started and no real threads had ended. Before the movie, however, I had a brief amount of enjoyment pretending to be a Christian preacher for no particular reason, and trying to convert Kevin and Victor to Christianity. The joke being Kevin, Victor and I are all atheists. I considered that funny, I don't know if anyone else did. After the bell went (or so we can assume, nobody heard it), I went up to the library, and watched Mango and some Year 9 kid play chess, as Victor and Ebony were just being Victor and Ebony, if that makes sense. Mango kicked the guy's ass, with a really good knight-queen combo. I put it down to the fact that the Year 9 guy developed his queen too early, and spent most of his time protecting it. But I'm no expert (mostly I gleamed that from books I read). When I got home, I studied a bit, and about 6:45, it was time for hapkido.
Shaylee didn't come to this session, for reasons that I'm still not perfectly clear about. Whichever way you put it, she didn't come to hapkido, so I went alone. I was asked more than once where Shaylee was, and once where 'my sister' was. These things annoy me. But overall it was a really good session, as before class Dylan, Tara, Jackson and I played dodgeball against all the Falcons (not quite adults, but still doing hapkido. 10 to 13 by the looks of things. I'm not 100% though). In the class itself, I was taught how to backroll, which was important (but I still need to practice), as well as better work on my kicks and how to punch in training right (I was doing the actual punching OK, but I was getting into a rhythm which wouldn't happen on the street. That's the best way I can explain it). I got home around 8:45, and here I am, blogging as fast as I can.
To comments, 6-actually-5 from 5 people. I say 6-actually-5 because one was deleted. Still, really-5 from 5 is pretty good. And none of them are Victor or Ebony, though that doesn't mean I don't want you to comment.
*Rosa: Well, I missed out on that hydrocarbons thing. So that's one mark down, we'll see how many more to go.
*Anonymous: Probably Dad, my book is so far not coming along too well, because exams are getting in the way. It's always in the back of my mind, however, and I plan to get to it from Friday. I'll really get into it once the English assessment is done.
*Corinne: I lost a mark as well, don't worry. And that History DVD wasn't that exciting, you didn't really miss much.
*Kevin: Moving on...
*Kevin: I do say the Science exam was fairly easy, though there were some rough patches. And I want comments because I want to know what people think of my blog, what they think of my day, and I like to respond to them. I would still blog if not for comments; I blog for me; but I still like comments. And I did put the blog link in my pm, but now it's not in it any more. Though I'll probably put it in later.
*Karen: I'd agree on all of those counts: I also remembered alkane + alkene + alkyne for nothing, as well as the meth/eth/prop/but thing. I studied that; it was really annoying. And, though, yes, I am a nerd, you can never be too sure about exams. But you're in A1 as well, I wouldn't worry too much either.
Well that was my Wednesday. I'll enjoy tomorrow; as the real half-yearlies end (I'm not counting the non-calculator test). It was a good day, as there were no exams, and there wasn't much real work. I also did a lot of 13. I love Wednesdays.

Half Yearlies '09: English
All I can say is thank god it was Wednesday (well, not all I can say. Otherwise this post would end here. But you know what I mean.). I'll explain all, right now.
I slept in 15 minutes, waking up to the Kyle and Jackie O show. I then realised the show only comes on after I am supposed to wake up, and promptly got straight up. On the way to school, it poured with rain, which is pretty good for a Wednesday. I was dropped off, and spent the time talking and doing some verbal studying for the exam (read: talked about it.). Role Call was quick, and then we all went down to the hall. Periods 1 and 2 were the English exam, which was 80 minutes of work and 10 minutes of reading, not in that order. I finished the exam with about 2 minutes left, and my short story was 3 and a half pages long (I'm starting to write more, and I haven't even started my book yet. Good signs.). I think I did OK, as long as my explanation was good. Everyone either though the guy was reminiscing or daydreaming (except Eric, who though it was all real). We'll see once it's marked. This exam could go either way, so I hope it went good for me. Recess was 13, as it always is.
Period 3 (paragraphs OK?) was Science, which was doing work on electromagnetism. I've already read ahead in my textbook/read about this type of science, so I knew what the deal was. But it was a nice period off. Not exactly a bludge, but close enough. When the bell went, I went to Lunch (duh), and then I had more 13, with such people as John, Kevin, Andy, Eric, Ian, Victor, and some Year 9 guy called Calvin who follows us around on Wednesdays. Why is a good question. And because of all the rain, School Sport was cancelled, so we went into the hall and watched a movie; sort of. I say sort of because the movie was some crap thing called 'Footy Legends,' which was something on rugby with bad acting, so we talked, played with chairs somehow, and played 13 in the dark. I also listened to music on my iPod. I don't recommend it (I may be a bit biased here). At 2:30, we finally left, after the movie ended early with some girl putting her hands over an old man's eyes (I'd say you'd have to watch it to understand it, but I watched it and I don't really.). On the bus ride home, I watched Abridged on my iPod, and when I got home I played DS for a while, as well as looking on yesterday's post. Too many comments; I'll get to that. Then, around 6:50, we left for hapkido.
Today's session was a really tiring one, and involved several instances of running, sprinting, push-ups, you get the picture. We had Sir Jimmy, so it was a good kind of strenuous exercise (if that were possible. Which, it apparently is.) In this lesson, I learnt three things: One, I need to learn back rolls, if I ever want to grade. Two, where some pressure points are on the body, and how to or not to do them. Three, how to do signatures. We didn't get to do signatures, so Shay and I will be doing them possibly next lesson. We'll have to see. When I got home, I had an ice-cream, then posted as fast as I could, which is what I'm doing.
Comments now, 16 from 4 people. I'm not kidding. I'm going to have to lump a lot together.
*Victor (x9): You don't get more lines of replies unless you actually say something, not just random and pointless crap (goodness me, it's RPC.). Just for that, only a few lines of reply for you. Ha.
*Ebony: Skills or lack thereof, I believe the latter. And if you don't like those paragraphs, then you are way too uptight. Stop bagging the paragraphs. And damn you and your easy Drama exam! And: caterpillar (though I should not lecture on spelling.). Redskins FTW, Pope comment getting old quickly. These we can agree on. And longer reply than Victor, because you said something.
*Dad: Your cool parenting beats my uncool me-ness any day, hands down.
*Shafi: Thanks for reading my posts, I like to think my blog is entertaining. A new chapter every day! Hmm, that sounds pretty good...
*Victor: Hi Victor!
*Shafi (x3): Thank you, and Victor spams more. It's true.
I now must finish up, for blogging today has gone overtime. Thanks for the comments, no thanks for the spamming. Ah well, take some, leave some. Reminds me of that 22 comment post. Interesting thing was, that post was short. The comments just fed off each other. Hmm. Like today. That's how my comment section works. Oh, and tomorrow I have an orthodontist's appointment. I might be getting braces, I might be getting an expander. I do have a day off though. Awesome!

The Storm
I was tossing up a few titles, but I ended up thinking that the simplest title is the best. I disregarded the rest of the day (though I will talk about that), and just wrote 'The Storm.' Because of the massive storm that just hit us. I'll definitely get to that. Oh, and as I've done once before, I'm writing this (or part of it) in a notepad, again, because of the storm. OK, enough of the opening paragraph. To my day. And I know I should be doing this earlier, but this bloody storm.
I woke up at 7:30 (don't blame me. I was woken up.). Then after chores and so on (I couldn't even go on my laptop), we headed straight to Westfields, with me bringing my wallet and my iPod (speaking of which, the song stuck in my head is 'U' by Super Junior. It was one of my dance songs, that's how I know it.) My Mum's car was due for a service, so we dropped the car off around 9 and walked to the shops. Once we arrived, we bought tickets for a movie, 'Race to Witch Mountain.' My Mum and my brother wanted to see it, and I didn't have any particular movie I wanted to see, so that's what we saw. It was better than I expected, and it had really good effects. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, and I definitely don't want to be a film critic. So I won't. But it was good. After the movie ended, we went down to Dymocks, so I could pick up the book I ordered, 'The Three Musketeers' by Alexandre Dumas. (I have a funny story about him, or rather, one of his books. I was reading 'The Count of Monte Cristo,' by the same guy, last year in Maths. Arriola came up and said 'Good book! I remember when it first came out.' Now, this book first came out in '44. 1844. I never get tired of that story.). Then we went to Angus and Robertson, where we used vouchers we got. I bought a Bill Bryson book, because he is the funniest writer I have ever read. Read as many of his books as you can. Then we had Red Rooster, where I spent too long trying to explain to the person who was waiting on us what we wanted. 'I'll have a regular chicken strip meal.' I do this every time, and it's never a problem. But I didn't count on this girl. 'A chicken sub?' 'Chicken strips. A chicken strip meal.' 'We don't have meals, we have combos.' (At this point it gets annoying. This is not difficult.) 'A combo then. Regular.' 'Regular or large?' (Haven't I already said this.) 'Regular. No sauce.' Then my brother ordered. 'I'll have the same as him.' Her face was classic. I thought we might be here for a while. 'Sauce?' (Exact same. No sauce.) 'No.' Bloody hell. Then after we ate, we walked back to the car, passing a fruit shop. This may seem pointless to mention, but I have to mention two signs advertising prices: 'Apples, 49c a bucbet' and 'Weter, $2.99 a bay.' What? I'm not going to try to understand these. When we got home, we watched the rest of Avatar, book 3, including the movie. That is some good stuff.
Now to the storm. It started quietly, when it started raining. Then I heard some banging sounds; hail hitting the windows. Then the lightning started. At this point, it is pouring, and we look out the window, I hear my Mum say, 'The shelter is gone.' We have a shelter in our backyard, or, more accurately, had. We went outside, after the rain had slowed, and found the whole metal frame bent and cracked. The top was at a 45 degree angle, one leg over the neighbour's fence and one leg parallel to the ground. The whole thing is essentially destroyed. To top it all off, the lights went out, and we had to turn off the power because of the lightning. It was, no exaggeration, the worst storm I have ever witnessed. The dog was forcing his way into the house; the side doors were leaking, making us gather towels and buckets like crazy to stop the flow, and the backyard was underwater. I put my foot down and sank in ankle-deep.
I was supposed to go a bit philosophical here, but with all the things that have happened, I'll postpone it until tomorrow. And it was really good too. I was going to get all John-like and all. Well, not as good as him, but still. Philosophical. Instead here I'll mention one of my goals for the holidays: I'm going to write (or at least start to write) a book. We've been doing writing in English, character development in Drama, I've been blogging (a form of writing), and I've always wanted to write a book. So tomorrow, or the day after, I'm going to start. I might even post a bit now and then.
Comments, now, starting with more late ones (which I shall now call retro comments, because that's what I call them in my head and it's just easier to call them that.), both of them on Sunday.
*Ebony: I would say I use Bebo, but that would be an overstatement. I have a Bebo account. I never go on it. My blog is my page on the net. And I don't think I've ever seen :L, though that could just be me. And it's true, he was my first commenter. I almost forgot that. And I post everyday, it's what I do. This way I know what I'm doing everyday. I like to keep a record.
*Shafi: ...OK...
Now to yesterday's comments: 8 from 5 people. Now the only missing person is AC. They're probably just on holidays though.
*Victor: Long posts? Here's one for you. And shut up about my labels, they're awesome. OK, maybe not, but still.
*Karen: Hopefully you'll beat him next time. Someone has to beat Victor. And, yes, I get up at 6. This way, I can go on my laptop in the morning.
*Ebony: I put my blog in my pm right away as well, but it didn't make a difference. Ah well. Gave me a chance to get in the swing of things. Blogging earlier, I will do, if I can help it, but blogging shorter is not my thing. Just me though. And I have no idea how lol is a label either, I don't know why I put that their either. More strange labels I have used are 'bus' and 'w00t.'
*Ebony: Relax, long comments are good. And I read your comments. At least twice: Once to read, and once to reply too.
*Victor: Help out with what? It was kind of vague. Though if you're talking to Ebony, use MSN.
*Victor: It's not that bad. In fact, it's not bad at all.
*Kevin: I think you misspelled 'carp' there. Just saying. And I've finished it all. It is good.
*Shafi: I really can't explain it all here. Wikipedia is your friend. Here's the article. Avatar and Dragonball Z. What?
Oy vey, that was a long post. Hopefully tomorrow I'll start a bit of my book, as well as do that philosophical thing. It won't be your classic relaxation, but I'll take that any day.
I'll try to post earlier,

Too Much Too Quickly
What that title means is that everything just seems to be piling on. Before my comment replies, I'll talk about that. And before my day, I'll talk about hapkido. So I expect this post to be a very long one. Good that I'm posting this one early (-ish) then.
I got to hapkido, and I ran inside to get my watch. It had run out of power, but it's all better now. Before the actual session started, I talked to some of the kids who do hapkido with me. Specifically, Tara, who is a yellow belt and is in Shaylee's grade in her school (and who though we were brother and sister. That was awkward.); Nick, who is a white belt, my age and shorter than my brother (seriously. And my brother is 10.); and Amadeus (that is actually his name. Rock me Amadeus!), who seemed a bit standoffish. Though that could just be me. We did a lot of fighting, and I got hit a few times. I can also do a forward roll. It's not brilliant, but I can do it. The first time I did it, I was exhilarated. I still am! We ran a bit overtime, but it was all worth it. I learnt some new rules (some of them the hard way), and I did what was possibly the best exercise session I've had in years. And I enjoyed it too! I love hapkido.
I got driven to school, in the rain of course (hopefully it'll clear up tomorrow). Period 1 was Geography, which was doing 2 questions, which took longer than expected. I got a chance to read though. Next was Science, in which Robson wasn't there, so we had this new teacher who I've never seen before (I think he's replacing Robson. I hope he hasn't left yet.). We didn't get told his name. I finished 'Eclipse' in class, and went on to 'Breaking Dawn,' which at this rate should be finished by Saturday. Recess was playing 13, as usual. I had the worst luck today. Anyway. Period 3 was Ag, which like all Ag theory lessons was writing in our book, and enjoying the many English slip-ups, including 'How do you spell dying?' by Schippers, and Rhys mangling some of the longer words (but in all fairness, they were pretty difficult. I got what I thought was an easy one wrong.) My favourite: oestrous being pronounced 'oh-steer-ee-ous.' Next was PE, which was watching a documentary on party drugs. That was really spooky. Lunch was more 13. Cameron also claimed that me playing 13 stemmed from me being depressed that he kicked me out of the band. That was retarded. Talking with Victor, Eric plays 13 because he's depressed that he kicked me out of the band, Kevin plays 13 because he's depressed that Eric's depressed that he kicked me out of the band, and Andy plays 13 because he's depressed that Kevin's depressed that Eric's depressed that... oh, you get the picture.
Period 5 was Maths, which was doing a lot of algebra involving quadratic simultaneous equations, and hence way too much work. But, it actually wasn't bad, since I haven't had much of a brain workout in a while (did I just type that?). Last was Drama, in which we were supposed to get our marks, but Kolodziej said 'legal paperwork' got in the way. Seemed a bit fishy to me. Anyway. Another day of stress. In the actual lesson we re-enacted Shakespeare dramatically. His poems I mean. On the train home, someone took my seat, so I had to sit a few seats up (that has nothing to do with anything. I just wanted to mention that.). On Holsworthy station, I talked to Ashna, and I got home, where I went on MSN, listened to music, surfed the net, commented on blogs, etc. Speaking of blogs, Victor got a blog; and proceeded to get something like 27 comments from 4 people in 1 day. I am officially upstaged. And such was my day.
Now to everything that seems to be happening at once or should be:
* I have a Commerce assessment due in a week, which I only started today. Thankfully it's not much work, but it's still annoying.
* My laptop has to be on charge at all times since the battery is on life support (ie the charger), which sorta rules out the point of a laptop. Ah well.
* My glasses aren't sitting on my face properly ever since Shay hit me in the side of my head in hapkido (my fault, I didn't duck in time), as well as the fact that I'm squinting a bit more. Which means I have to get new ones soon.
* My bad nail is playing up on me (ie it's getting caught on stuff and causing pain), so I will probably have to ask my parents to go to a dermatologist.
* I'm writing a heap more than I used to, with commenting and longer posts. Much longer. But that's a good thing, so I'm not complaining about that.
Now to my comment replies. I got 7 yesterday, which is not as good as the 12 on Tuesday, but still pretty good.
* Victor: Yes, you are good at this. If only I was as good as commenting first on your blog. Curse you, Ebony for being first the other times, and being +6 while I am only +1! (LOL.)
* Victor: Point made, and I'm not going to go there (to /b/), which from your comments seems to be the smart thing.
* Shafi: Not everything was by AC. I think it was actually by Mango, in hindsight. And yes, hapkido is a martial art, South Korean if I'm not mistaken. My uncle is a black belt in it, I think (which I just found out about today). And 13 is an awesome game. There is no argument.
* ?: I assume that's an April Fools' joke. I don't know who it is, and quite frankly I don't want to know.
* Ebony: I don't know what it is with rain, I don't like it. Water is bad for books. And I'm not too keen on getting my marks back (though seeing yours, I know why you are.).
* Presumably Mango: Yes. Yes it was.
* AC: My teachers are actually pretty awesome, all of them (with the exception of Kearney). And with me blogging earlier, I just can't seem to do it. I have time later so dammit, I'll post later (that and since I'm always on MSN or having dinner, it takes me over an hour to write this, on and off.). And you're welcome about me not guessing, I figure that there are some things I am not meant to know, like the workings of a girl's head and anything Art-related.
And with that, I'll end. A long post, but a pretty good one in my opinion. Tomorrow's Friday, so chances are I'll be posting later. Maybe. I'll end with a quote by Douglas Adams, since I realised I haven't mentioned him in ages. I think it really suits my blogging timing, though I'm trying to stop.
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by,

Wet and Witty
Today was all about water and fun, because we had bugger all work, and it poured. Just like yesterday, but it just kept raining. And raining. With that out of the way (and back to my old habit of sucking at opening paragraphs), we'll get to my day. I'm blogging early because I am doing hapkido again today, and with any luck I'll put a photo of me up tomorrow.
I got to school, where I was surprised by Cameron, Eric and Victor chanting something. I had my iPod in, so I didn't really hear. Later they told me it was April Fools' Day, so that's why they did it (I had forgotten). Didn't seem that much of a joke, as I wasn't tricked. Anyway. When the bell went, I proceeded to forget about Role Call. Of course. Luckily I remembered when I saw that nobody in my class was going the same way. Period 1 was Commerce, which was talking about work from yesterday and reading part of a sheet. So a complete bludge, but fun. Next was Drama, which was in the Music room for some bizarre reason. There we did work on some poem about underwater pigs that eat people and live in a lake. And, no, I'm not joking here, that is exactly what it was about. We were supposed to get our marks back, but we didn't. We're getting them back tomorrow. Presumably. Another day for panic and stress. Next was Recess, which was 13 (as usual). We also (to my lasting regret) said goodbye to a treasured part of our game: the flip rule, when a vote was cast. I voted to keep it, but I was shot down. Rest In Peace, flip rule.
Period 3 was Maths, which was spent doing some work (which seemed hard but was actually fairly easy), and also bludging around on my calculator. Which passes the time pretty effectively. Lunch was, again, playing 13. It got a little confusing though, when some Year 9s who did School Sport wanted to play, which over-crowded things a bit. But, when a few people left, it was clearer. When the bell went, Victor started talking about a really bad movie (one of those so-bad-it's-good movies) called 'D-War,' and he ranted for about 10 minutes about it. I was splitting my sides laughing. I swear, he ought to go into stand-up comedy. Since everything was drenched, we went in the hall and watched a movie, which ended up being 'Drillbit Taylor' by near-unanimous vote. At around 2:15, we packed up the hall, and waited for the bell. I caught the bus home, and I went on MSN, watched some TV, and surfed the net. And here I am, in my hapkido uniform, blogging.
Now to the comment section. Yesterday I got 12 comments (3 in the first 6 minutes). So that's 21 in 2 days. And as I said, though some of them are a bit out there (read: extremely bizarre), I will reply to them all:
* Victor: Indeed, that amazed me; you commented within 8 minutes. That's also scary.
* Mango: Yes, I know it's you. Lol.
* Victor: My sentiments exactly.
* Shafi: Good that you've heard of Queen songs. They are pretty fantastic. Thanks for the compliment with the marquee at the bottom and the tip on reading.
* Victor: ROFLMAO. 'The grammar (or lack thereof) makes my eyes bleed.' Possibly the funniest thing I've heard in weeks; you are classic.
* Mango: Yes, you are. But everyone is, so it doesn't matter.
* Victor: Another Lol.
* Victor: I don't even know what you're talking about. (5 comments: you have way too much time on your hands.)
* Presumably Shafi: Yes, I do have some interesting friends. But awesome.
* Ebony: Made me laugh too! Thanks for following; that's 4.
* John: You can say that last bit again.
* AC: LOL to first mini-paragraph. And I'm not really sure who you are; best not to guess.
And that was my Wednesday, or it will be once it's finished. I'll start tomorrow with hapkido. Keep those comments coming, these are fun!

A Cheerful Tuesday
Yes, today was a fun, optimistic, cheerful day. And today I'll be unveiling a new segment to my blog, which shall now be the second-last paragraph. I shall get to that when I get to it.
First, last night. I did hapkido, and it was fun as! I've never sweated so much and enjoyed it. I got my uniform, and since I had one on and Shay didn't, I had superiority. Lol! We did some basic kicks, punches, defenses, basic stuff. We were also supposed to be doing forward rolls, but I admittedly sucked at that. But soon I hope to be able to do it. Which will be awesome. I finished around 8:15, and when I got home: horror. Where is my watch? A check around the house, Jo's car and a phone call to the hapkido centre determined that it was at reception at hapkido. So I'll have to get it on Wednesday. Since then my wrist has seemed naked. But that's me; common sense of a garden snail. (But, as Einstein said: "Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen." I don't know what I meant by that, I just wanted to use that quote. I know I'm weird. Not like it's something I don't know.)
I caught the bus to school, and it was raining on and off. No, literally: One minute it was pouring, and then the next there wasn't a speck of rain. It seemed like somebody was turning off a tap. Anyway. Period 1 was Ag, which was just writing some stuff out from the board. Same old, same old. Next was History, which was answering more questions. Luckily there weren't that many, so I got a chance to read. As usual. Recess was talking to Victor and Shafi, while Kevin, Eric, John and Andy played 13 (I didn't know.). Apparently Shafi had never heard of Queen (speaking of Queen, 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' is stuck in my head today.). I stared at him. Unfortunately, not many people I know have heard of Queen. A shame. Period 3 was Maths, which was not actually doing much, for once. I treasure those bludgy moments in Maths: there isn't many of them. Next was Science, which was a really fun experiment. We heated a piece of metal under a blue Bunsen flame, and watched what it did. What ended up happening was that the metal curved almost 90 degrees, and the edge of the metal turned red-hot; it was glowing. That was awesome. When we put it under a tap, the water just boiled instantaneously, with a hissing sound and a cloud of steam. I love doing that. Lunch was 13 again, with me only winning one game (and that was with a few straights thrown in. I had 6 doubles and I didn't even win, and one of them was a double 2!).
Period 5 was Commerce, in which we went to a computer lab. We also met who I think our new teacher is for when Kearney leaves, though her name escapes me. We were just researching about members of parliament. I ended up having to go on the same computer as Hewie since mine didn't work. I also gave Karen my blog link, which she asked about in Maths (I will get to that.) I forgot her name, which is a big problem for me, since I suck at names. I will learn people's names, I swear. Period 6 was English, which was the best period of the day. We were talking about short stories, and we started talking about anachronisms. And Tiana started talking about how we shouldn't watch DVDs of movies set in the time before DVDs, since that's an anachronism. The same goes for cameras. I swear, Tiana thinks too much or not enough, I don't know which. We're also supposed to do a 5 page short story. I did a double-take. I was (partially) relieved when he said it wasn't an A4 page. So that was a load off (although knowing me, I'll either do too much or not enough.). When I got home, I went on my laptop, watched TV, and, surprisingly, read, since I don't read that much at home, since I can go on my laptop at home (I've already finished 'New Moon.' I think I started it this morning or last night. I have way too much time on my hands.).
Now for the segment I was talking about in my first paragraph. Here I am going to respond to everybody's comments from the previous day. I figure if you have taken the time to comment, I should take the time to reply. And I'm hoping to make this a permanent thing. Now in order:
* Ebony: I laughed at that 'Live long and prosper' thing, because I always used to say that, and, it's true, no matter how hard you try, you can't out-nerd me (but, that's a compliment to me. Lol.) I'm following your blog as well, since I suppose you read mine, I'll read yours.
* Victor: LOL. That's all that needs to be said.
* AC: I am still speculating your identity, but I figure I'd best just see you as AC and not some kid from school trying to hide their identity (and yes, I am going to keep calling you AC. Just because it's a lot easier.)
* Shafi (twice): Man, just say who you are. It's fun. And you gotta type better. But, thanks for commenting. Really. Twice is awesome!
* Karen: Thanks for laughing, I like my blog. I will remember your name now (sorry), and I think you're the first person to remark on the Element thing. Sweet! I'm also following your blog, for the same reason as I said for Ebony.
* John: Glad you didn't hear me singing, and that you love music. And you're welcome for your blog, it is really awesome. And thanks for commenting more, I love comments.
* Dad: Didn't expect this one, but, you're right, I don't mind. I love it! That 'uncooler' thing made me laugh, because I've said it before, if you can't laugh at yourself, you can't laugh at anyone. See you on Friday!
* Shafi: This wasn't actually there when I started this, and it's OK if you don't put your name in the title, I'm not really sure how to either. See you at school!
That sums up today. I hope you all like my new segment, because I sure do. Speaking of comments, I'll probably be commenting more on other people's blogs, if that's OK. My New Year's Resolution was to be more social, and I figure I'd better start living up to that (although I am doing that more already.).
See you all in my comments (hopefully),

Saturday at Star City
Specifically, the Star City hotel in Sydney. If you're wondering why, it's my friend Shay's mum Jo's birthday, and we're celebrating by having a stay in the Star City hotel. With that in mind, let's see about my day.
I woke up at 7:45, and had breakfast. Unfortunately, after my Dad left for AFL with my brother, I had to mow the lawn. In the rain. However, after 15 minutes of attempting to start the mower, it eventually failed, so I didn't have to do it. All's well that ends well, I suppose. However, I had to pack the dishwasher and do homework. But, it's better than mowing the lawn, I suppose. I also finished a Scratch project I’ve been working on that generates coastlines. I know, I get bored. But it took a while and I’m really pleased with the end result. I’ll upload it once I’ve fine-tuned it. After a while, my Dad and my brother got home, and it was time to go to Star City.
First we drove to the hotel, and we got valet parking. My Mum started drooling over a Ferrari, so my Dad got a picture taken. We got a lift up to our apartment, and so we had a look around. Ours are on the 9th floor, and Shay's family is on the 10th floor. They look exactly the same, except for the pictures on the wall. On ours, they're Picasso-y, abstract paintings (I hate those), and theirs are good paintings that actually look like something. We went down to Darling Harbour and got an ice-cream (I got a strawberry one in a waffle and Belgian chocolate cone. *drools*), and checked out the restaurant where we ate tonight (the obviously named Meat and Wine Cafe.). After that, we went back to the hotel, and went to swim in the pool. We (me, EJ, Shay and Lachlan) played Marco Polo and played double-decker fighting (where someone gets on someone else's shoulders). Then we got changed, and went up to Shay's apartment. I went on my laptop (we have internet access), and I read. Then after a while it was time for dinner. We went down to the Meat and Wine Cafe, and I had this delicious Hawaiian Burger. Pineapple, cheese, bacon, beef, lettuce, all on one bun with chips and onion rings on the side, with a big glass of Lift thrown in as well. It was delicious. Sadly, I could not eat it all. If only. Once that was finished, we got bored for a bit, then discovered there was paper on the table. I got a pencil out of my pocket (why I had one in there is a very good question), and so we started drawing on the table. That was more fun than it actually seems. We drew sketches, wrote stuff, etc. We also had fun with electric candles. They actually didn’t have candles, just electric lights. That was cool, because we spent ages playing with them without getting burnt. That was also really fun. Then we walked back to the hotel, with the parents singing Elton John and Michael Jackson all the way. Yes, they had had a few drinks. We got back to the apartment, changed into our pyjamas (that is a weird word. Seriously, it starts with p-y-j. OK, that was random.), and settled down while the parents went to the casino. We put on a movie, which was ‘Don’t Mess With The Zohan’ (I love that movie), and I went on my computer. And here I am. I’m actually blogging this on a Word document, because Blogger is messing up on me. No other websites though. Hmm.
OK, if I may be permitted a quick side note: No longer am I going to be blogging this late again, with any luck. Twice in a short period I’ve had to blog the following morning because I’ve been interrupted or I’ve left it until late. So now I’m going to try to do what I used to: Blog about the previous night the following morning. Moving on…
And that was today. A long day, but a very good one. Tomorrow look like it's gonna be a good day, before the big week and That Dreaded Day (it strikes again).

Dancing, Scratch and Megatokyo
You may have read that title and thought WT7? How are any of those things related? And the answer is that they all played a fairly large part on Friday the 13th (which went pretty smoothly).
My Dad drove me to school, etc, etc, you know the drill. Period 1 was Agriculture, which was writing stuff down in our books, NTR (No Thought Required). Next came Geography, in which we went up to the library for the second or third period running, but we didn't take any notes. Just watching, talking. A nice little break from work at school. Next came Assembly, in which I got very cramped up (too many people, not enough space), and worked out exactly what I have on Tuesday the 24th:
Period 2: Geography Assessment and Glenfield School Reading
Period 5: Drama Assessment and PE Assessment
As you can see, that is a big problem. To say the least. Will they change it around, who knows? Great work, Hurlstone. Genius. And, to top it all off, for PE, there's not enough time to do it in class, so we have to give up lunch times, after-school times, I'm even doing some stuff tomorrow. On Saturday. Oy. Anyway, Recess was an hour, in which it rained, and we talked about everything from how other people looked in my glasses to how far back I can put my eyes (answer to both: very weird and almost all the way). Maths was Period 3, which was about 10 minutes for some reason, and involved little work. Science followed, and was doing an experiment with hydrogen peroxide and fire. No theory, just experiment. Lunch was doing some dancing (part 1 of title) in Room 6, with Oishi and Nancy, for just over an hour. Then I went to the music room with everyone, and we did some music (of course). Period 5 was Commerce, which involved more theory, *sigh*. The only good thing about Commerce in Period 5 is that I don't finish the day with it. English was a bludge, doing 10 minutes of work and subsequently reading a Bill Bryson book and attempting not to burst out laughing, with limited success (I was reading Bill Bryson: I probably should have seen that coming.). Thus ends school, but not Friday. I got home, and after a while I went on the Scratch website (part 2 of title), and I realise I've been featured on the Scratch site. That means that my project (specifically this one) has been considered one of the best on the Scratch site. That was exhilarating. But, the day still wasn't finished. Through thine computerised information god Wikipedia, I got onto a comic called Megatokyo, which is really good. Would I be so forward to say it is better than xkcd and Dinosaur Comics? Which is really saying something. Oh, and today, I don't really have a song stuck in my head. Ah well.
Now, that ends Friday, or the better part of it. I shall blog, as always, tomorrow. I might say comment again, but yesterday's were pretty random. But, fun. Somebody is reading. Comment!

It's A Small World After All
Yes, it's another song as a post title. If you count yesterday as a song title, then the last non-song title (or variation of) was Friday, March the 6th. Anyway, today's title was about something very coincidental (the spooky type) that happened after school. And as my predictions stand: bludgy, yes; European handball, no. Now that's out of the way, we'll see what happened today.
Get to school, and go to Roll Call. On the way, this Year 9 passes us by acting like a gangster. So I decide to freak him out just a bit. So I go: 'Sup, my homedog?' (I have no idea what that means.) And he just pauses. Looks at me like I'm an idiot for trying to act gangster. And keeps on acting like it. Ah, the insanity of the world. History was 1st Period, but it was in the library, so we didn't actually go anywhere. We watched this video (VIDEO) about the Vietnam War and took notes. Such a riveting period. But, it was truly a bludgy one. Next was English. Hancock was back (back again), and we talked about short story structure, and read one. Courtney also made a comment in class: 'Boys don't like reading.' I call out: 'Ahem!' (or something like that), and I have a book in my hand. And we just did work on stereotypes. The first half of Recess was spent talking to John and Victor, and the second half was more dancing practice with Oishi and Nancy. Next was Science, and Robson is still not teaching, so we got Watson. We did more work from the textbook (I hate that), but luckily it was simple and I got to spend the last 15 minutes reading.
Lunch was spent talking about stuff and playing 5-Card Draw Poker with Kevin and Victor. Then it was sport. For sport, we did soccer, and I ended up being goalkeeper, reasoning that it involved little running, and I wasn't in the mood to run. I let 2 goals through, and the rest came at me. Then we swapped sides, and we played more cards, this time Texas Hold'em with Kevin, Victor, Hewie and Peter, using imaginary chips (it was kind of confusing). Then, it started to pour. It was already sprinkling, but it really started coming down. At this point, the games were stopped and self-preservation set in, with everybody running to the hall for shelter. This was at about 2, and I spent the rest of the time on my iPod listening to Abridged (speaking of music and Abridged, the song stuck in my head is the same one from yesterday and Episode 35 is out on the official website). I then spent some time at the library, and went to the station at around 3, when who should be there but Sarah! It is a small world. She was apparently coming back from UWS, and we happened to run into each other. It was nice catching up. On the train ride, we talked about life at respective education centres, for want of a better phrase, and when we got to the station, who else should show up but Aashna! Everybody was there. It was spooky, but it was really good to catch up. I hope it happens again. The rest of the day was spent watching TV, and going on MSN.
That was Wednesday. It's been a pretty good day, with the meetings of friends and so forth. I end with a quote by a guy called Rick Astley about my attitude towards running.
Never gonna run around (unless I want to),

Swimming Carnival
To describe today in one word: water. Yes, today revolved around water in two ways: one, it was the swimming carnival. Two, it poured. Now, let us have a look at the swimming carnival. It started off before school, where everyone came in their house colours: Farrer, red; Wentworth, blue; Macarthur, yellow; and Lachlan Macquarie, green, which I am in. If I may be permitted to make a side note: why Lachlan Macquarie? Why two names? When we get themes (I'll come back to this), it's Macquarie, but we are normally called Lachlan. I say, pick a name and commit. But, really, it doesn't matter. Anyway, back to... houses. OK. our themes were: Farrer Festive, where people came dressed as holiday characters. You know, Santa Claus, Halloween characters, basically just everything holiday-ish. Wentworth was Wonderland, which took the title of 'Weirdest Theme for 2009.' W00t. So, people came dressed up as Alice (even the boys, again, which I'll come back to after this.), the Mad Hatter, and more than 1 person had jokes about 'Wonderland' (eg, a few girls had signs pointing to their chests, which said 'Your Wonderland.' Lol!). Macarthur was Magic, and had by far the best costumes. There were fairies, wizards (mostly Harry Potter), and the best costume came from here. One person had a Gandalf (the White) costume, which was perfect. The hat, the white robes, the staff, even the beard. It could have been Dumbledore, but I doubt it. And last (always), is Macquarie, which was Musicians. We had guitars, drums, many musical instruments. I couldn't find anything green, so I came in a black top with a DJ on it. Of course, like in every school, there is a time-honoured tradition, which came out with flying colours today. In Hurlstone, for some bizarre reason, that tradition is cross-dressing. Swimming carnivals, camps, Year 12 farewells, rest-assured there will be guys in dresses attempting to show... something.
In the morning, I spent the time with Cam, Eric, Vitale, Victor, basically the whole group, just basically doing nothing. Cards, sessions, walking, talking, etc, etc. The cheering contest was first, though, and I'd like to say that I think Macquarie was the morning's winner. Of course, that could have been because I was standing in that particular crowd.
If I may be permitted to make a short side note: Is it just me, or does everybody at the swimming carnival seem drunk? Well, not everybody of course, but there's always those special few. I mean, we have shouting (cheering contests), strange behaviour (dancing in the rain), very little inhibitions (girls going around taking pictures of themselves with completely random people), I could go on. But I won't.
Continuing. Today, I lent Shafi my iPod, so that he could have a look at Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series. (If you don't know what that is, I strongly recommend you have a look at it at the link I just gave you, as it is brilliant. Or, so I think. I do have a very strange sense of humour.) I gave it to him at lunch, and didn't get it back until about 2 pm. Yeah. It's that good. Anyway, in the afternoon, I spent most of the time hiding from the rain, having a 'joke-off' with Vitale, in which we each tell the other a joke, and if they had heard of it, they get a point, and if not, you get a point. It ended with the score being tied at 8 a piece, when we decided to stop. Partway through the day, we got told the score: as usual, Farrer was first and leading easily, Wentworth coming second, about 50 or 60 points ahead of 3rd, who was, SHOCK, HORROR, Macquarie. We are always last. Always. Rest assured, we rubbed it in Mango and Vitale's faces, who are both in Macarthur. At this point, it stops sprinkling, and starts raining. Hard. It starts pelting down. Then, a teacher (I think it was actually an office lady) told us to go cheer. I promptly went into the pool area: and talked to Cam. Why? ...The stand was full. Then, I got sent to go get the score for Mr. Wilson (senior. Or, B. Wilson. I remember the B standing for bald, and that's how I tell the Wilsons, A. or B. apart.) Farrer, 1st, what a surprise. Wentworth, 2nd, of course. And... Macarthur third. Macarthur. Third. Macquarie had fallen to fourth. Again. They do say L for Lachlan, l for last. However, Mr. Wilson (snr) did say something interesting before being corrected: 'Farrer, fourth...' A misread of 1st for 4th due to wet paper. How funny would that have been, if Farrer really did come fourth. *sigh* Ah, well.
And that was my day. Really. Maybe there's more, but it probably wouldn't have been very interesting. (Oh, I lost my umbrella case. So that's... something...)
Proud to be in Lachlan (and also last),
