Rest and Results

Could it be? Another alliterative post? I really had to, though, because I couldn't think of anything. Anyway. Rest means a break with no exams, and results means, well, I got some results. Pretty straight-forward, really. So, without further ado, to my day.

I got to school, of course, and before school, we talked about a whole range of stuff, mostly BFH related (isn't it always?). I also lent Shafi 'Five Greatest Warriors,' as I had finished it yesterday. It was epic, plain and simple. Anyway. First, it was Role Call, which was reading, of course. I was reading 'The Genius Wars,' by Catherine Jinks. I really don't like her 'Pagan' books, to be honest (having had to read them in English in Year 8 may or may not have had anything to do with it. Seriously, I don't know, but I don't think so. I can appreciate good novels. Anyway.), but her 'Genius' books are very good. Period 1 was Drama, in which we were making plays from prompts. Cam and I were in a pair, and we ended up doing this thing where Cam is selling stuff in a cosmetics store, and I am the guy buying it who is getting steadily ripped off. It's a bit like the scene with Rowan Atkinson in 'Love Actually,' if you've seen it, which is actually where Cam got the idea. Ours was apparently really funny (or so people told me; Cam did come up with some really good lines, such as the finder's fee in a shop: 'Well, I found this for you, sir.'), though I think Shane and Oscar were better. I mean, they're Shane and Oscar; they're hilarious (proof. Possibly conclusive.). Shane did the best American accent. He was a pretty good Basil Fawlty too. Period 2 was Maths, and as Rawson was late, we played hangman for a while (my skill in the game lies in three letter words, like 'dog.' But harder.). He did eventually get to class though, and we mostly talked about the format of the School Certificate, and to make sure that we avoid overthinking things, which I sometimes tend to do. Recess was talking.

Period 3 was PE, and in that, we got our assignment back (remember the one I handed in on the last day of term 3? That one.). I got 18/20, which I think is pretty good, considering how much time I spent on it (read: it was still getting finished after dinner on the day before it was due. What we were supposed to do in the period was work from the orange book, but instead, Wilson put on the computer, and (get this), went on Youtube. I had no idea the staff were able to go on Youtube, although I probably should have guessed. So the class pretty much just watched that. Lunch was talking, as usual.

It was then time for School Sport, and it seems we are getting lazier and lazier (I'm all for it, by the way.). We didn't even leave the main quad. No, really. What we did was cricket in the main quad, and I unfortunately got picked for the team of boarders. There were two teams: the Asians and Ebony, and the Boarders and AB, originally called Asians vs. Boarders before it was realised that Ebony and I counted for something. Our team won, and I had to bowl underarm, because it seemed nobody could actually play cricket, except for the occasional boarder who lost balls smashing them over the roof into the donut quad. Or maybe they just got stuck on the roof. Either way, they got lost. I think we lost 2 or 3. While playing, near the end, Kolodziej came by, and told me what I got for Drama. Which was 100%. No, really. I think that's the first time that has happened in an exam (not an assignment. That's been done before. But with exams.). Damn, that was good. After school, I talked to Ebony about string theory (I think it started with the Science exam from yesterday, and just kind of evolved from there. I'm just surprised that it happened.). After I got home, Dad did, and he had brought his friends from Canberra, Alan and Pixie, though I'm not entirely sure why. Around 7, we left for hapkido.

Shirisha wasn't here, but Grandmaster Geoff was. He tired us out a lot, and to top it off, Grandmaster Geoff doesn't give water breaks often. In an example of how he worked us, he gave us 20 of the 'Super Set of Six,' which involved tricep dips, wheelbarrow push-ups, and clap push-ups. No, really. It's a lot of work. I collapsed more than once. 20 just pushed me a lot. Anyway. I also got help with my reverse bear hugs, which I was sucking at. We ended up fixing it up, though, so that's out of the way (for now, anyway.). And when I got home, I tried to blog, but not enough. Ah well.

And that was my day. Sorry about the very late post, but, well, you knew that. I'll see if I can get back up on the weekend. There aren't any exams then, which is good. Tomorrow is Maths and HSIE, so be ready for a post similar to Tuesday. Except, maybe a bit longer. Who knows.

One more day of exams to go,

AFL Presentation Day '09

Yes, with this, the AFL season, from my point of view, can come to an official close, as the actual AFL season was really ended last month, and this presentation day is the last thing of my brother's season (as I was sorta affiliated with that, what with Dad being the President, Mum managing, EJ playing, me boundary running unofficially. So on and so forth.). It was also responsible for throwing off posting in a massive way, considering how long it ran. Also, yes it's a very late post. I really hope I can get back on track soon. And there is an arguable titling problem.

I woke up at 6:30, and once I'd got stuff done, I adjourned to my room, to play some Battlefield Heroes. I was doing pretty well, until about 8:15, when Mum and I had to leave to go set up for the presentation. I read in the car for a while, but soon we actually did have to go and actually do stuff. We started by unpacking seemingly endless supplies of bread rolls and seven boxes (seven!) of donuts (I could say 'doughnuts,' but I won't.), as well as much sausages, salad, cutlery, serviettes, and so on. Say what you like, but we were ready to feed an army. We then all went inside, to set up for the presentation itself. We moved tables, organised chairs, and did more unpacking, this time of trophies, as essentially everybody who plays gets a participation trophy, as well as Best & Fairests, Coach's Awards (possibly Coaches Award, I'm not too sure) and Most Improveds. Every single one of these was packed in cardboard and foam, so until about 11:15, I was a human conveyor belt, transferring packing materials to a large bin outside, coming back, and repeating. It was repetitive, tiring, boring work, as you can guess. Not particularly fun at all. Anyway. As I said before, at 11:15, we left, so that Mum and I could get lunch and be ready for the presentation.

When we did get home, I had a big lunch, and packed some stuff to go to the presentation. However, at about 1 when we had to leave, Mum put her foot down and said that I couldn't bring my laptop, which was a shame because I was told when we were going to get home, which was about 9. So instead, I grabbed my iPod and a book. We were the first people at the presentation (again), so for a while we just hung back and did whatever. When people started to arrive though, I went to my table, and read for a bit. Soon the actual presentation did start, but before that, I happened to see some old friends. Nicole, Darren's brother, and her Mum were there, and we talked for quite a bit. After that, Shaylee and Jess got me selling raffle tickets, as I took the box and thought we were all doing it together. I was wrong, but I didn't mind. They got me fair and square. I went around for a while, selling tickets, when I was called up to give out my own trophy (well, it's named after me, for no other reason than that I had been playing for a while when they thought up the idea for it. Still, it's pretty cool to have a trophy named after you.), which is the goalkicking medal for Under 12s. But after they handed that out, I went out to the canteen.

There, Shaylee and Jess were preparing for the feast that we were all to have after the presentation, which means that they were cutting open bread roll after bread roll. It didn't look particularly exciting, but they had music on and they didn't seem too bored. After I got there, I ended up showing them some hapkido stuff, because Shay left and she wanted to see some orange belt stuff. They laughed at my fall, which I do admit looks a bit strange, but it is pretty cool nevertheless. So I talked with them for a while, and soon people began to file out of the room and outside to near the canteen. The presentation had evidently ended, and people were ready for dinner, as was I. I had a sausage roll, a bread roll, and much potato salad (mmm, potato salad...).

After that, Shay, Jess and I wandered around, until we came across a game that most of the kids were playing. I can't say what it was called, because it seemed like they made it up. But, from what I can guess from playing, you get a goal by putting it in a goal, like in soccer. You can use any part of your body (not just feet or head, like in soccer), and if it goes out of bounds, then people just run after it, and bring it back into play. Tackling is grabbing someone until they let go. Basically, it's utter chaos contained in a theoretically limitless playing field. It was fun. I scored a great goal at one stage, pushing many people out of the way, then throwing it sideways with only a slight inclination as to where the goals were, while being tackled to the ground. Damn, it was good.

Soon after, they broke out the donuts, all seven boxes of them. A lot of people didn't notice. I, however, did. And as there were many more donuts than people (and even then, quite a few didn't take any), I decided to gradually take some. I then went to go and talk to people who were there, and even as people left, we talked to others. Soon, a game of cricket started, and I was called upon to be the umpire for some reason. And so I did, and we played until it was dark. Then, we went to sit down, and I talked and played Solitaire on my iPod (by this time, it was about 8:30). We also ate donuts, but soon nobody could eat anymore. So we went inside, where there was a group of retired (or, so I guess) people dancing. In there, we started handing out free donuts, and almost everyone took some. I thus learnt one important lesson: It doesn't matter your age, sex, race or religion, everybody likes a free donut. After more talking, and drinking (alcohol by some, Solo by me), we left at about 10 (not 9, as I expected). And when I got home, I blogged a bit, but only a bit, considering the time. Which should hopefully explain the very late post.

And that was my day. I can't complain about shortness of post, seeing as this one is over 1100 words (whoa), but that could have been a contributing factor as to why this one is so late. Others are shopping on Sunday, and study and hapkido on Monday. However, if you are still short of things to blame, well, you know who to blame (society. It's society.).

So long AFL season, see you next year,

A Big Barbecue Bash

Other rejected titles included 'BBBQ' (The extra B is for BYOBB. That's a typo.), and 'AB: A Barbecue' (which sucks, quite frankly). Anyway. Yes, today we had a barbecue, with Shay's family coming over, and, well, let's see how it all pans out when we get there.

I woke up at around 7:30, as I had decided to go watch the cricket game that I would be playing in if I had not given it up for hapkido. We left at around 9, and I brought my magazine and 'The Lost Symbol,' the new Dan Brown book that Oma got me yesterday afternoon (oh yeah). So when I got there, I talked to people, and I eventually found somewhere to sit, where I intermittently read my mag or book, and watched the cricket. However, at about 10-ish, Dad and I left the game (which was still going, by the way) to go see EJ bat. It lasted all of not very long, as we saw 2 overs, after which it was time to swap over. We would have spent more time at the ground waiting than watching him bat. Anyway. When we got back, our team was already kicking ass, and they ended up bowling them all out for 40 or so. That's a win of about 80 runs (in a Twenty20 match, so 120 odd is good), so it was a convincing win. We got home at about 11:30.

When I did get home, I had some lunch, and I promptly went to do a bit of my Geography assignment. Only a bit, though, because we also spent a lot of time rushing around preparing for the barbecue that came as a big surprise to me. Shay got to our place at around 6, I'd say (I know I skipped a bit. It wasn't that exciting, believe me.). So we talked for quite a while, and we (everybody except EJ and Lachlan) regaled everybody with anecdotes from our past. Dad tells the best stories, I think, though I don't want to sell a lot of people short (the tale of the broken whipper-snipper was also told, to much laughter.). Dinner was good, and after that and after cleaning up, we went into the loungeroom to watch the Cats-Magpies game. Oma is a Collingwood supporter, and pretty much everybody else in the room was not. So we watched the whole game, although Shay's family left just before the end, when Geelong were sure to win. And they did, with the final score reading 120-47. I went to bed at around 11, but sadly the night was only just beginning...

Sorry for leaving you at that cliffhanger, but the rest of the action in the night (pun not intended) happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, and this is Saturday's post. So in the next post, all shall be revealed. Also, an explanation for why this post is rather late will be given. And if you don't like it, well, neither do I. Ah well. It was also a fairly short post, mainly because it was a weekend. Sunday's post will probably be even shorter, though it's not a definite thing.

A barbecue amongst friends; summer in Australia has officially begun,

Post The Two Hundredth

It seems like only yesterday I was lighting myself on fire and thinking about blogging about it (no, really: that actually happened). That first post was only something like 300 words, and the average post has since ballooned into over 600 words. So, in accordance with this post's celebrations, I shall look back on the events that have happened since my blog began way, way back in early February. Ah, how times have changed.

Before school, I blogged, although not enough, quite evidently. Period 1 was Maths, in which we did some stuff on trigonometric ratios. It was just doing a bit of working out, and writing it down. Not too hard, but it was better than nothing, I suppose (well, nothing is boring!). Period 2 was Drama, in which we got a sheet on Greek Drama, which contained possibly the most pointless piece of work I have ever seen: It had a crossword on it, but (get this), the words had been given to you. It had the clue, and then the answer just sitting next to it. When I pointed this out (just to see what would happen), the class laughed, Kolodziej stuttered a bit, and then changed the subject. We also read from a book of plays from the time of the Ancient Greeks. I'm sure it's better in performance; just reading it was none too impressive. Recess was not actually 13, but rather handball, with John, Johnny (that's not a mistake), and someone else whose name I have forgotten.

Period 3 was Commerce, in which we studied for the Science skills comp, which was today (I forgot). So I went through the whole chapter of electricity and electromagnetic waves, then onto motion, then to genetics because I got bored, then back through the whole thing. We also talked about who was and who wasn't going to camp (I was one of the latter. I think I've already mentioned this.). Then, after the cramming, the Science skills comp came. We got into class late (but only by 2 minutes or so), and we got ready, getting out pens and what-not. And so we started. And I tell you what; it wasn't actually that hard. Some stuff you had to think about for a bit, I suppose, but when it comes to difficulty, it wasn't too hard. So I hope that, when I get my marks back, they'll be good. Lunch was a mixture of music and 31. We'll probably get back to 13 tomorrow.

Period 5 was English, in which we got two cartoons and were told to analyse them. One of them was fairly obvious, although you had to piece it all together to answer the half-page or so of questions. The other, however, made no sense whichever way you looked at it. And we had a sub, Contado, so she didn't know the answer either. I just got my book out when I was finished and read that. I love doing that. Period 6 was History, in which we did another pre-test, like yesterday's. This one was easier, and I finished in about 20 minutes (I improved on yesterday's result, too). Notable event: Johnson writing 'Fish' instead of 'Finish.' It said: "Fish: 2:50." I thought it was pretty funny. After school ended, while I was waiting at the station, I talked to Kale for a bit, on all manner of things from the upcoming Talent Quest to how I memorised the periodic table (if this is not a symbol of supreme nerdiness, I don't know what is).

When I got home, I blogged a bit, and around 4, Dad showed up, and offered to take me to cricket training to catch up with some of the guys who I won't get to see that often, now that hapkido has replaced cricket as my exercise of choice. So I trained with them for about 45 minutes, give or take. And I tell you, my fitness has definitely improved. It is coming along very well. So when I arrived back at home, I watched TV, the new Abridged episode (42 has finally come! Link!), and blogged. And here I am.

I will now go happily to the celebrations, where we shall see the many things that have happened since Day 1, featuring links to the respective posts that have documented them:
*Getting braces: Oh yeah. That's probably gotta be one of the biggest things that has occurred. A life-changing thing it is, braces, and I've learned to live with them. Though I will most likely be very happy once they are off.
*Hapkido begins: Another big one, that I almost forgot. I've given up my roots of cricket and AFL for hapkido, and I think it is a pretty good choice. I've never felt more fit, as I've said, and that's saying something.
*The concert: It's one of the bigger social events I've had so far, and it was so good, I'm going to another one: The Britney Spears one. I've liked her since I was 5, I think, and seeing her in Australia will be a big thing for me.
*The many other things I simply could not post all to, like trips to Canberra, half-yearlies, assignments, the beginning of 13... yeah. Heaps of stuff. And I'd like to say hey to everyone who was there, who are here, and who are reading.

And this was my day. Thanks again, everyone, for reading, and being a part of my blog. Now, let's see if I can get some people commenting. There haven't been many, lately, but I hope I'll get some for this post. Here's hoping, hey?

200 posts down, and many, many more to go,

Running, Rain, and a Presentation

Yes, more titling difficulties, and a late post. A very late post. As usual, I blame society. Anyway. Today I ran around a lot, in the rain, and later there was a cricket presentation that ran until 6. It was that kind of day.

I woke up around 7:45, and I had to get ready for my brother's footy game. We got there around 8:30, and I promptly spent some time, for some reason, playing handball with a golf ball (hitting a golf ball with your hand hurts. Though it's better than my brother, who tried headbutting it and came off the worse for the deal, to say the least.). When he went to get photos done, I wandered around for a while, then went to see Shay, Heather and Jess in the canteen. We talked about nothing for a while. After that, I went to sit down and read for a bit, while listening to Queen on my iPod. Of course, that couldn't last long, as I have become the runner for EJ's team. So when the game started, so did I. Except, it was raining. And when I say it rained, I meant it poured. Positively bucketed down. So I ended up running along one side of the field, in the rain, and every so often, doing a throw-in. Around half-time, though, it started to slow up, so I was able to get at least partially dry. And to top it all off, the other team didn't even have a boundary umpire. It kept raining on and off for a while.

When his game finished (and he won), and after Mum had left for the shops, Dad, EJ and I dropped by KFC, on our way home. At home, Shay's family stopped by to give Dad and EJ their birthday presents. Then, around 1:45, we all left for our Cricket Presentation. I brought my iPod and my DS. For the first part, I just watched my brother play some DS, and then I started to watch some Abridged. I also then played some DS. Around 5, they started the actual presentations, and at 6-ish, they called our team up. In that, my Dad announced something that took everyone concerned by complete surprise, except my family: no more cricket. When the cricket season starts, I either have to hapkido or cricket. I cant do both; 4 days a week in Year 11 is just too much. So the choice was between hapkido and cricket. And I chose hapkido. In life we have choices, and this is mine. On a less philosophical note, my Dad messed up by saying I was doing the HSC next year. So for the rest of when I stayed there, I had to keep telling people that I am not actually doing the HSCs for a while. Then, at home, I blogged about Friday.

To comments now, 2 from the 2 commenters I had before The Strike. Yes, it's been capitalised.
*Ebony: Suckiness is the noun. Not suckage. I refuse to give up my beliefs on slang for no apparent reason! And there was more then one commenter today. And thanks for reminding me about the journal.
*Victor: Where?

Well, that was my day. More late posts, I know. I have to stop this weekend procrastination. I'll stop. Eventually.

Bloody post-procrastination,

Say Cheese!

Yes, it was school photos today. I also felt like titling it that. Why not? (If you're wondering why, the answer is because it's my blog, dammit! I can blog on what or when I feel. Anyway. Moving on from my frustration at a hypothetical situation. Wait, what?) And I'm sorry it's a late post, things just seemed to keep getting in the way. I hate it when that happens, because you keep trying to get to something but... you get what I mean. I just have no idea how to finish that sentence.

Before school, I finished Monday's post, and before school at school, I'd like to think I entertained people with my new, lispy voice. I'd like to think that. My voice now sounds relatively normal. On another minus side, Victor can do a way better Acolyte voice than I can. So, crap. Period 1 was English, and we had Contado. We got 'Animal Farm' for a book, which is one of those freaky-coincidental things, because I finally read it after borrowing it from the library only a week ago. I told her I'd already read it not long ago, so I got to read my Bill Bryson book. Isn't it nice when things just work? (See this Honda ad for explanation. I love this ad.) When the bell went, I went to Maths, and there it was just some calculator work, as well as learning some stuff about logs, and being a smartass in class (because Faulds taught us new maths stuff specifically because I was away. Or so he says.). Recess was 13, as it usually is, though John seemed to be completely out of it. '13?' 'Yeah, what about it?' '13!' 'So?' 'Cards!' 'Oh...' The long weekend takes it out of everybody.

Period 3 was School Photos, and there were many memorable moments. When we started to line up, it became obvious that Eric had had a massive growth spurt. More than one person told him he was 'supposed to be' at the end of the line, including myself. I also grew, and when we filed up for a grade photo, I was in the top row. How awesome is that? However, this sense of almost-pride (because it's only really actual pride if you do something, rather than letting your body do something, if you know what I'm trying to get across here) was short-lived, as being in the top row sparked a slight unease (not exactly a fear of heights, but reminiscent of it), which would have been better if I were not at the edge. That in itself would have been better if there were a rail. Luckily, I didn't fall down. The group photos themselves passed without much incident, except for a word to say, the guy said to say 'communism.' Don't know why, don't want to know. The individual photos passed without much incident. Period 4 was Commerce, which was just a bit of bludging in the Computer Room. Ah, the joys of doing nothing.

Lunch was the usual. Period 5 and 6 were PE, and this session was a sport that I actually know how to play: cricket. I did pretty well for a while (and it was sorta fun watching Ebony's uncoordination. No offence.), and near the end we played a mixture of Diamond and Continuous Cricket (Ciamond? Dinuous?). When I got into bat, I just kept running, and it was tiring the hell out of me. When I finally got out, I realised I was having a panic attack throughout the whole thing. I swear, my body hates me. Anyway. At home, I did some of my assignment, talked on MSN; and realised my Pokemon Emerald game is gone. Seriously, I can't find it. Bugger. I'll keep looking though. And when I went to blog, things just kept getting in the way. So here I am on Wednesday morning, blogging.

To comments, one from one person. And Ebony actually commented. Hooray!
*Ebony: First four points in the first paragraph, I: partially agree, disagree, disagree, agree. And, yes, comment more. And I am only good at the first two, I suck at Singstar. Paragraph complaints? Really?

Well, that was my Tuesday. Ebony has begun to comment again, I'm back to 13, but I'm back to school and I've lost a game. Well, you win some, you lose some.

Back to school, again,

Thank God It's Finished

Yes! Commerce is completed! That was torture. I'll get to my actual day now. You may be surprised I'm blogging this late; I will get to that.

I got to the station, and started talking to Nibraas and Sakib about this cricket tribunal. Long story short, in our final (blog link here), the umpire thought someone swore at him. I didn't blog about it, for two reasons: it didn't seem that important, and I barely knew about it. But he reported the supposed incident, and Nibraas and my Dad were cited for 'failing to control the team.' (My Dad wanted blog credit for some reason. Here you go.) Nibraas got let off because he proved it didn't happen, but my Dad was found guilty. So wait, if it didn't happen, how can he be guilty? Problem 2: Nibraas was on the field and my Dad was off the field when it supposedly happened. But Nibraas was let off and my Dad... whatever. It's confusing me. My Dad's appealing. Anyway. Period 1 and 2 were the Anzac ceremony. That was pretty good, and funny. It wasn't supposed to be funny, but the guest speaker went on for 15 minutes about the dictionary definitions of 'myth' and 'legend,' and specifically, the difference between them. In the end, he gave us basically no answer besides there could be a difference. The point? Good question. I mean no disrespect. But that's exactly what happened. Recess was 13, as usual. I seem to have two hands today (left and right! Lol, but seriously. Card hands.): Good, but I come second; and bad, but I come third. Annoys me. Period 3 was Maths, which was basically nothing except my usual 'come up with equations with trigonometry explaining something for no apparent reason.' Next was Lunch, which was 13 again. Funniest hand. I squandered an awesome hand by mistake, and was left with a 5. John, Victor, me and Kevin. I had a 5, Kevin had 5 cards, none lower than a 7. Victor was to my right, and went out, but in a way that Kevin couldn't play. I played and came 3rd. Kevin's reaction: face in hands and 'NOOOOO!' No kidding. Sport, as is Wednesday, was handball for some reason. Up until 1:45. I alternated between good and bad. As sport is for me. After 1:45, we went off for a drink break and nobody went back on. So I spent the time on my iPod, playing Solitaire and listening to Queen and Tom Lehrer. After school, I finally finished my Commerce assessment. Thank god. When I finished it, it was a big load off my chest, I'll say that. It was then, after a time doing a lot of work (chores and what-not), and dinner, it was time for hapkido.

Master Geoff wasn't there, so we had some other black belts, who worked us all session long. One and a half hours instead if 1. But it was good, since I got a heap of a workout. I also learned some more defensive moves, as well as evasion. Which is really good, because I suppose it's better not to be hit then to defend being hit.

I'll type quickly, it's almost time to go. Comments now:
*Mango (x2): Please comment with more than 3 words each, not just to be first (but thanks for looking up round robin).
*Karen: Cute thing: making me blush. Stop it (lol). Everybody's silly anyway.
*Corinne: O_O. You don't watch TV. Seriously. Holy crap. That's insane. But it doesn't read like it's your fault. That's fair enough.
*Ebony: I suppose The Simpsons isn't everybody's cup of tea, but not even one episode? And you call me socially unaware (which is less true than most people think. But notice I didn't say it was out-and-out wrong.).
*Kevin: Thanks for the braces 'compliments' (*sarcasm*). And that flowing text took me a while, thanks for noticing!
*AC: 'Lobachevsky'; don't knock it 'til you try it. Me with braces would be weird(-er). Ben; enough. I am not Ben. Your comments are cool because I don't know who they're from, so it's a mystery, which makes it awesome.
*Shafi: ALEX!! Short story, thank god it's due next term. I hope. And that song may be strange, but it is awesome. And I'd want to read your blog, I think it would be cool. And I may not even be getting braces. But I probably will be.
Where is Victor's comment?

I'll quickly sum up here, because it's almost time for me to go. Comment as usual, everybody, you are all awesome!

I can't wait for tomorrow afternoon (holidays!),

Cricket and the Case of the Curious Commenter

Apart from the alliteration in the title (of which I seem to do a lot now), today was, in fact, all about a cricket match and a quest for the identity of AC.

I woke up at 5:30 today, a bit like yesterday, and when I realised it was 5:30, I promptly went straight back to sleep. I was woken up at 7:30, as my Dad had to go off to cricket, for his final, and we were scheduled to be there. I first went on my laptop and talked to Victor on trying to work out who AC is. We're still pretty much stumped. But we trawled through comments (a bit like yesterday, but more in detail), to see if we can find anything. We have a few ideas, but not many. Anyway. At around 10:30, we went down to my Dad's cricket game, with me bringing my iPod, 'Twilight,' and 'City of Glass.' Once I finished Twilight, I put my iPod in, and I put on my favourite songs and bands: Queen, 'White Noise,' 'Electric Feel,' the usual. I also played Solitaire on my iPod for a while, and I was on a really good winning streak. Still am, come to think of it. I also got through about halfway of 'City of Glass,' and I can't wait to finish it. That went until around 3, when my Dad got out and it was time to go. He was in for several hours, and that means he's a much better batsman than me. Of course, that's not saying much. Anyway. As I was leaving, I did that peace sign (where I tapped my chest twice with my fist, and do the peace sign.). That is becoming almost habit now. It's still awesome though. When I got home, I did the usual, went on MSN, surfed the net, and now I'm on Skype with John and Victor. We're also discussing who AC is. I have one or two hunches, but again, nothing nearing 100%. However, I really like how I'm finally getting comments, and the fact it's anonymous really is awesome. I sort of want to know, but, as I've said, I sort of don't.

Well, that was short. How about more random lists? Things I like, but shouldn't:
* Funny insults about me. For example, a few days back, Michael (Shay's dad) was talking about how much I listen to Queen, and he said 'Too much Mercury will kill you.' As in Freddie Mercury. That was funny. I probably shouldn't laugh, because it's a joke at my expense, but as I've said before, if you can't laugh at yourself, you can't laugh at anyone.
* Singing to myself. I love it, because I love music, but I shouldn't, because my singing isn't that great (read: horrifyingly bad). But, still, I do it, simply because I can't help myself.

Things I love doing, but people look at me weird about:
* Philosophising. Sometimes I get really deep unintentionally, and at that point I find it best to put on some music and stop thinking, because when I hate overthinking. Luckily, there are some other people who think like I do, like Victor, and John, whose blog is all about that type of thing. Which I think is awesome.
* Writing down the Periodic Table from memory. Which I love doing, but people just look at like I'm some sort of robot. Which sucks, because then people ask me about everything in Science.

Well, I'm going to end today's blog, because my brain is beginning to stop working. After 9:00, thinking is barely allowed. As usual, I welcome any comments, particularly those of AC, because I wouldn't want to lose my only regular commenter. Tomorrow's my 50th post (I know I said Tuesday. Mental malfunction. Hmm... nice ring to it.), and it is going to be great.

Can't wait for Monday (wow, that sounded odd),

We Are (Not) The Champions

Yes, I know, another Queen song. That's because they're awesome. Yes, as you can guess, we lost. Just how badly, I shall now tell you.

I actually slept in today, believe it or not. That's because we had to leave by 9:15 to get there by 9:30 to play by 10 (or something like that), so, really, it hardly mattered. So, we get to the ground, everyone starts showing up. My Dad, the coach, makes a quick speech, and we begin the match. We start off pretty good: 1 for 1, 2 for 7, 3 for 22. Drinks break. Right about here, it starts to fall to pieces. A quick 6 off a no ball in the second over after drinks break, and the runs start to pile on. 70, 80, the total started to shoot up. Justin (their best batsman) got out after one of the greatest plays I've ever seen. Speedy's at mid-on, and Justin hits it towards him, and goes for a 1. Speedy leaps to the side, gets the ball, and throws it at the wicket. A moment of silence. Then an explosion of cheering. At this point, it's something like 120 runs, and we feel like anything's possible. But the game isn't over. They're not through. The overs run out at 2, and they're at 169. We're still hopeful, if they can do it, we can. It's lunch. We go back on, and Ryan M gets out for 1. That's OK, Nibraas gets in. Everything's still running smoothly. Rizzul gets out for 2. Ben gets in. Two of our best batsmen. Let's get some runs. Except, we don't seem to want to do that. Nifty, out for 10. Payny (in my opinion, our other best batsman) gets in. Ben out for 1, Payny for a duck. We're in trouble. Big trouble. Teagan gets in, and stays in. Good, if anyone else could stay in. A lot of sundries, but not enough. Jacob goes for 1. Aaron sticks in for a bit, falls for 1. Rhys stays in for 20 minutes. A duck. At this point, we're doomed. Only Callum and me left, in that order. Callum stays in for a while, but it's hopeless. He goes for 2. I'm left. I face 2 balls, then it's over (as in, the over is out, not the game is over). Teagan goes for the ball, but it bounces off her bat and hits the stumps. All out, for 62. 34 sundries. It was, quite frankly, one of the worst games we've played. Bowling-wise, OK, but batting-wise: disappointing. Ah well.

The rest of the day ran pretty well. We get home, and decide to trick EJ. We tried to tell him I got 70 not out. My Dad also pretended to give me $200 (he gave me one bill twice. I had to give it back to him both times. Bugger.). My brother caught on about the score basically instantly, but then he started crying: 'You gave him $200! Look who your favourite son is!' Then we attempt to explain to him that there is no way in the world that my Dad would ever give me $200. Now that was funny. The rest of my day was basically spent watching TV, reading, and going on my computer.

Such ends my day, and ends the weekend. Bugger. Ah well, it was a good few days. And now there's school tomorrow. I don't want to go to school. Well, I shall finish today's blog.

May next year's final be a lot better than this year's,

Don't Stop Me Now

In that, I wanted to quote a song, preferably a Queen one, and this one seemed to fit today. It's been a long day, and it's still going. So let's get into what has been a hell of a Saturday (in a good way).

I woke up at 7:20 (which, really, is sleeping in for me), and I'm still half-waking up when the parents bustle me off to Rebel Sports about 20 minutes away for my brother's footy boots (AFL. I'm sure I've already said this.), as well as to get me some new sneakers (this pair's falling apart. Almost literally.). So we get to the shops, and there's this guy on one of the up escalators walking down. About 50 years old, so not a kid or anything. Just picture it: a 50 year old guy just staying in one spot, walking down the up escalator as if that's perfectly normal. And we have to go up that escalator, so he just stops, turns around, and goes up the escalator. And, he was looking at us strange. He was looking at us strange. Anyway, we get to Rebel, I get my shoes, taking around 10 minutes, while EJ (my brother) is getting his boots. I wander over, he's still getting his boots. Wait around 15 minutes, come back, still getting them. It's a miracle we ever got out of there. We get out, grab a doughnut and a strawberry milkshake, and end up going to Borders. Sweet. I got another Brian Greene book called 'Fabric of the Cosmos.' I can't wait to read it. We got home, and I ended up having to clean my room and do homework. Joy. I can't do it tomorrow, because I have cricket. (Oh, that reminds me: I was thinking of titling today's post 'The Final Countdown' because of the cricket final, but it didn't really sum up today. Bugger. After I got that out of the way, I went on my laptop for a while, going on Scratch, MSN, net-surfing, you know, the usual.

We left our house at around 5, to go to Shay's house. I went on the Wii, playing Wii Tennis against Lachlan and EJ (losing both times), and playing baseball with EJ (drawing.) Next, we had dinner, and then we got into handball. Shay and Lachlan play a bit differently, but then, so does everyone. We played for a while, and at the end, the game just started to fall apart. But, really, we were having more fun, 'cause we didn't care what we doing. It was great. I gave Shay my glasses, thus disabling both of our visions, and attempted to play handball. Which, as you can imagine, was both mindbendingly difficult, but really fun and carefree. It was like being drunk, sorta. When we went inside after about 1 and a half hours outside, Shay and I got on our computers (I brought my laptop), and EJ and Lachlan got on the Wii. So here I am, at 9:30, just sitting with my laptop, music blaring in my ears (the song stuck in my head today is 'Everything I'm Not' by the Veronicas. Yesterday, I forgot to mention, was 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen.), and blogging.

My day isn't finished, but this post is. Because chances are not much is going to happen from now and when I go to sleep. Of course, I could be wrong, but in that case I'll just resort to the tried-and-true method of putting off today what I can do tomorrow, and put it in the next post. (Oh, I won't be on MSN from 10 am to 6:30 pm tomorrow most likely, because of the final.) One thing's for sure: I definitely won't be sleeping in tomorrow. Unfortunately.

Tomorrow will be a busy, busy day,

The Weekend Calls

What a day today has been. Oh, I'm typing on Shay's computer, and it seems fine, except for the lack of MSN. Well, let's get into my day before I forget what actually happened.

Jo dropped me off again, and I got to school and find three people not there: Ian and Shafi, who were at the excursion, and Matt. Don't know why he's away, but who cares? Period 1 was Science, and doing some work on complete and incomplete combustion. Riveting, I know. Next came Geography, which was doing essentially nothing. All Johnson talked about was yesterday's trip to Windang. Hooray for doing nothing! Assembly was auctioning off the teachers' hair. Hmm. Perhaps I should explain. Each year for Shave for a Cure, teachers offer to shave or colour their hair, and the kids bid for the rights to do basically whatever they want to their hair. The highest bid this year was Milner, who ended up being bought by Years 9, 10, and 12. Altogether. That ended up being $1000 to colour (and hopefully shave) her hair. I'm chipping in $5 or $10. Assembly ran massively overtime, and Recess ended up beiong something like 10 minutes. And Periods 3 and 4 were 35 minutes each. That should give you a general picture of what happened. Recess was spent chatting, the usual.

Period 3 was English, which was reading from the workbook, as well as Sandy deciding to attack a fly. There was a fly buzzing around, and Sandy being Sandy decides to get rid of it. So he starts smashing this workbook against the wall again and again. (He got it, by the way.) Next was Maths, which was also doing squat. Really, I love these days where nothing happens. Lunch was talking to mainly Cam and John, about a lot of things really. Everything and nothing. Period 5 was Drama, in Vercoe's old room. Which was, again, a bludge fest, as Sandy was moved after a space of 5 minutes. He has to take this pill (I think he's got ADHD), and I figure he either needs to get more or less of it. I don't know which. Last came Commerce, which due to the lack of people (relatively speaking) due to the excursion, involved packing 45 people into one room to watch a video. Genius, really. And when I say video, I mean video: Lucky if you can find a DVD within this school.

I got home, blah blah blah, and go to cricket training at 4:45. We did some work on preparing for the semi-final on Sunday, which goes from 10 to 6:30 (and, no, I'm not kidding). I'll keep you posted. After training, my Dad and I went to get dinner from the local shops, and then proceeded to go straight to Shay's house. I thought we were going to my house first, but, eh, what are you gonna do. We played handball, then I went on their Wii and did WiiFit. I checked my BMI, and I'm something like 21. Which apparently is normal. Sweet. We went on like that for a while, in the process showing that I will never be good at yoga, until I decided to get on the computer and blog finally. So here I am!

This, I suppose, wraps up my day. Hopefully I'll get to sleep in tomorrow, making it the first Saturday in a while that I've slept in on. Awesome. I end with something I just feel like saying. Because I can. That and I can't be bothered to think on a Friday night.

Peace Out,
AB

The REAL List

After yesterday's post, you'll probably want to know the outcome of the big argument. I'll get to that, and everything up until right now, and the list, for real this time. So let's go straight into it.

Basically, the argument was resolved that night, just before bed. And in the morning, nothing was said of it. It's like it never happened. And it's probably best if it stays that way, with everything just the way it was and no tension. (Or so it seems. I think that it was good that everything got into the open.) So, on to this morning.

I got up at 6:30 to go to cricket. Rush around, rush around. We got to cricket, did a warm-up. Luckily I brought my iPod, and I listened to it. We were batting, and I... was towards the lower end (second-last, specifically), so I spent the time on my iPod and reading. I also got this brilliant photo (or, rather, it was my idea, and Callum took the picture. Basically, Jacob and Teagan were sitting together, listening to my iPod, and so I took the opportunity to make a heart with my fingers, and put it in between them, so we get a 'Jacob, *heart* Teagan' situation. When I get the photo off Speedy (if I ever get it off Speedy) I'll put it up. Anyway, I didn't get to bat until 8 people were out and we were pretty much doomed. So you can imagine what happened. (I got a duck. I thought I got a one, but it was a bye. Damn.) We lost, by the way, by about 40 or so runs, but luckily Fairfield RSL won (they were first, so they should've), so we made the finals. And we're playing the same team we just played. It looks to be exciting. Anyway, skip to after cricket, and I'm bundled off to my grandparents' place, where I'm currently typing this. My brother also has to use my laptop, unfortunately, so we go in shifts (I know. I hate it too. *sigh*). Oh, and Episode 33 of Abridged is finally working on iTunes. W00t! Now, to the list. However, before I get into 'Things You Probably Don't Know About Me,' I'd like to finish with my granddad's favourite 2 quotes: 'Old age and treachery will always beat youth and skill,' and my favourite: 'What's mine is mine, and what's yours is negotiable.' Lol! So, to the list, of which all 5 of you reading this have probably not been waiting for since Thursday! (But, really, I don't care. I don't blog so that people can read it, I blog and so people read it. I hope that makes sense. But I doubt it):

* I have a love/hate relationship with my internet. It's quick, but it's always cutting out in the middle of anything I'm doing, seemingly every day. But without it, I probably couldn't function (and that's probably only a half-exaggeration. I remember this holidays, I went without the net. *shivers*).

* I tend not to tell people my age. If I do, people generally start to freak out. Luckily my height works out nicely in my favour.

* My New Year's Resolution is to be more social. It's actually really working; I've gone to a concert, I've stopped reading that much in Recess and Lunch, I'm on MSN, Skype, I'm talking to more people: things are looking up.

* I love to blog. It's become really great, just to type, and to say what I feel. I love it.

* I like to write. Not just blogs, but songs, the occasional poem. But not singing the songs. God no. I don't want to deafen anyone (lol).

* I usually have a song stuck in my head. A few days ago, it was 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen. Before that it was 'Never Gonna Give You Up' by Rick Astley. Now I don't really have one. Hmm.

* I'm always on my laptop. By that, I mean I'm on it in the mornings and the afternoons. And that's on a weekday.

* I love to make jokes. They might not be great. But it keeps people laughing. I hate to see people down. It really gets me. Speaking of which...

* I am really empathetic. That's not me bragging or anything. When people are being hurt, physically or emotionally, it always gets to me. Like I have to stop it. And when people don't let me, that really hurts.

* I hate my magnet. I've already explained what that is here. Really, it's very annoying and it makes me really depressive. Luckily it seems to be weakening.

That's all I can think of. (Oh, and if you're wondering why I didn't use actual bullet points, it's because for some reason they're flowers. Yeah.) Anyway, my brother wants the computer, so I'm gonna have to sign out. I'll talk to you all on MSN tomorrow (hopefully) when I get my computer to myself again.

Can't wait for tomorrow (when I get my laptop to myself again),

The World is Crazy

That's my quote. Right there. The world is insane, crazy, mental, twisted, and everyone is caught in some 3-D Escher painting. And sometimes you're caught by its mangled web, and sometimes you spin it. This may seem a bit cynical, but, really, you have to acknowledge that fact. So in view of what I just said, let's see my day.

I got up at 6 to go to cricket, and played until about 10 or 11. In that 4 hours, I didn't really do much. I didn't bowl, and our team didn't really bat (read: only for about 2 overs). So we can basically skip that part. I get home, mow some of the lawns, and at about 3 or 4, everything just collapsed. I can take a look at these in order; first my Dad, who makes a fair point, from his point of view, and second Cam, who went, in my opinion went a bit, let's say, odd. If you're wondering why I made that bold, I'll get to that.

First, my Dad. I think it started when he was mucking around with my brother (who is about 10 and a half) and he ended up squashing him, inadvertently of course. Long story short, my bro tried to stop him crushing him, and my Dad thought he was just kidding. I hate misunderstandings. Anyway, my Dad, who works in Canberra, started feeling underappreciated, and called us in for a talk. It made fair sense, and he seemed very distressed. It would have been nice should he have let my brother make his side, but that's what you get for being 10. I didn't get to say much anyway.

Second, and this is the bloody annoying one. Cam sends me an email, apparently finding something wrong with this and this post. And then he starts onto me about how he 'didn't give him forms to fill out about using his name.' WT7? So he says he'll start informing people (read: Head of Student Welfare, or something) within 24 hours. As you'll see, there is nothing changed. That's because there is such a thing as freedom of speech. Cam used these expressions: defamation, slander, and cyber-bullying. As you can see, those last three things link to Wikipedia articles (all hail thine information god. I'm being sarcastic here, I'm a bloody atheist.) To defend my freedom of speech (that phrase is used twice now.), defamation is supposed to be false being passed off as true. As the article says, opinion is not counted, and is 'inherently not falsifiable' . Cam, my opinion of you has, in all honesty and bluntness, dropped several notches. I hope you're happy; I'm not.

That ends my rant. This is making me pissed off, so I'll stop. This post was supposed to be about Episode 33 of Abridged coming out and the podcast of it not working as well as misquoted expressions (to quote Ep 33: 'The enemy of my friend is also my enemy,' as well as 'I'm not British, I'm just gay.' See the series to know what I'm talking about.), but more important things came out. Ah, how crazy is the world.

May your day have not been as insane as mine,

Friday, w00t!

Thank God it's Friday! But work isn't over for the week, I have cricket in the morning. It's a two-dayer, but it might rain tomorrow, and if so, it'll just be a one-dayer. Anyway, my day (and I'm writing this on my friend Mick's computer, and I've seen faster snails. So bear with me.)

Today was mufti, and I wore my 'A salt with a deadly weapon' shirt. I think it's funny. Anyway, Period 1, I think, was Maths, with Faulds, which was just basically doing an introduction to a topic we did last year. W00t. Next was Drama, which was some impromptu work, my first prac in ages. We (ie me and my partner) did pretty well, I think. After that, since it's Friday, was Assembly, in which the hall was very cramped, and there were some guest speakers; firemen. The assembly went massively over time, so Recess was kept the same length, and Period 3 and 4 each shortened to about 25 minutes. Recess was talking about everything and nothing, so naturally I was all for it. After that was Commerce, in which Kearney was just... dictator-like. Kearney was talking to Kimberly, and the conversation went something like this (Kearney speaks first): 'Listen!' 'I am listening, Sir!' 'Shut up and listen!' 'But I am listening, Sir!' Etcetera until Kearney tells Kim to get out of the class. WT7? (I say that. To quote Abridged: 'Hey, shut up, it's what I do!' It's an actual quote by the Nameless Henchmen who is always talking about his hair. Yeah.) So in the end it was great that the period was shortened and we got into Science. That was just doing some work. Lunch was also chatting, and with the thankful absence of Matt, everything flowed pretty good. More chatting and joking. I also sat on a chair, that turned out to have a leg missing and I almost fell off. Sometimes I feel like a retard, seriously.

Period 5 was English (we didn't do that much work), and the oddest thing happened. Besides me getting Oishi's MSN (a new girl, very friendly), which I'll have to put on my account when I get home, at one point, Corinne just started staring at me. For a while actually. It was really unnerving. I put it down to just getting lost in thought; I do it all the time. Anyway, next was History, which was basically doing nothing again. Hooray for bludging! I took the bus home, and ended up having to mow some of the lawn (*sigh*), and then it was cricket training, which was fairly average. Jacob started to hassle me about going to the Veronicas' concert (light-heartedly, of course), which I responded to him with 'I went with 2 14 year-old girls.' Problem solved. Remind me to thank Shay later.

Anyway, that was my day. When I get home I'll have to get on MSN. (Yes, I have no better ending than that. Sue me.)

Make sure the computer you're on actually bloody works,
