Multicultural Day '09

Wow, that's the first non-alliterative, non-reference title I've had in quite a while. Mainly because I haven't been able to think of anything else for those days, and this one really stuck out as a title (next year, though, it'll sound weird. For example: 'Multicultural Day Ten' rather than 'O-Nine.' Hmm.). So, let us have a look at my day, which was, quite obviously, the Multicultural Day for our school.

It was another mufti day over at Hurlstone, and you could either just come in any old mufti and pay, or come in your traditional garb, and not pay. Me, I don't have much of a choice, as most of the kids at my school have parents who were born in another country, and, me, well, I don't (in fact, as far as I know, the only blood relative of mine born in another country is my great great great grandmother, who was Scottish, or something like that. So I came in just regular mufti, as did most of my group (except the ones who forgot.). Period 1 was Maths, and it was pointed out before class that Eric was in multicultural stuff, as he was wearing yellow (he's Asian. I didn't point that out, though, other Asians did. I think some people can take it as an insult; not in our school.). There was then hilarity when I pointed out I was wearing white. In the actual class, we just talked about functions. Not nearly as exciting, but there you go. Period 2 was Drama, and as there was a total of about 3 people in the class, we just went to the neighbouring Graphics class, where Victor, John and Kevin reside, and played CounterStrike. I'm OK at it, but not great. Recess was the standard.

Period 3 was Commerce, and we pretty much just watched the rest of the Taser video. I didn't particularly notice, though, as I was caught up on my DS. The game is a little addictive, but I really don't mind. I enjoy it, and it's the last few days of the term. Why bother doing stuff? Period 4 was Science, and we had a really fun experiment with Pitt. We started off with Pitt showing us the Periodic Table on his iPhone (which is so nerdily awesome I can barely believe it. Yes, I converted nerd into an adverb. So?), and ended with him outside putting a few grams of zinc and a few grams of sulfur together, and then made some fire with glycerol and potassium permanganate (in itself, awesome). Altogether, there was about a tablespoon of material. The result, though, was a massive cloud, big and yellow, which quickly disappeared into the air. It was pretty cool. Later, we saw an experiment with alkali metals, which, if you are a science nerd like me, means a big reaction. The most reactive we saw was potassium, which caught on fire (obviously, we didn't get to see rubidium or caesium, as that would be a bit much for a Year 10 class. If you do want to see them, though, check out the first video here.). Lunch was talking.

Periods 5 and 6 were the actual Multicultural Day part of the day (if that makes sense), in which people of various cultural traditions displayed them to the rest of the people. There were fan and hat dances, which I think were Vietnamese (although I could be wrong), as well as Indian dances, and Cam had his ever popular Irish singing. There was also a dance between a Year 11 and a professional dancer, neither of whom I know the name, but it was pretty cool. It seemed Spanish, or something similar, so I think it was Brazilian (I may be very incorrect here.). It all finished up with a speech from somebody from World Vision (I think; it was certainly a charity organisation to do with poverty). After all that, I talked, and soon after, the bell rang. And then I went home, and blogged a little, although not enough. Hence why I am here.

Such was my day. Finally, I can say that I respect this title. I have had some other good ones, but, recently, this one isn't too bad. Wait, am I talking about my title in my closing paragraph? Yes; probably because I'm trying to draw attention away from the late post. Just blame society, folks. That oughta work.

I really should stop focusing on my titling so much,

Robbing and Relaxing

OK, I just want to stress this first part: I did not do the robbing, and the person who did do it (you'll see soon) didn't mean anything malicious from it. I just needed something to make a decent title (because, as bad as an alliterative title is, it's better than any old title.). So, without further ado, let us have a look at my day.

Period 1 was Geography, and we watched yet more Man vs Wild. It is getting slightly repetitive (here, I'll summarise pretty much every episode ever made: Bear Grylls is dropped off by helicopter at a hostile location. He eats anything available, including random plant parts and any insect he can find. Soon he attacks and consumes some dangerous animal, such as a python or a skunk. He occasionally drinks his own urine. Wait, what do I mean occasionally?). I still enjoy it, mainly because he always does at least one thing (like sleeping inside a dead sheep. No, really.). Period 2 was Science, and we were seeing how fast we ran and walked, as well as using LoggerPro (the graphing thing) to work out how fast we ran. At one point, we needed someone to hold a ruler to measure, to get some sort of scale, and Ebony was that someone. So according to Pitt, she was the 'scale model.' I was the only one who laughed, which was a little sad, although the joke was hysterical (so it seems both Robson and Pitt use puns. Could it be a Science thing? Hopefully; I enjoy them.). Recess was just talking.

Period 3 was Ag, and Lana was eating a sandwich (this may seem completely pointless and stupid to put in, but just trust me. I have a reason. You'll see.). This was not the focal point of the lesson, which instead was going out to drench cows. Which pretty much just means running some liquid across their backs. I also did some bad Bear Grylls impressions. Because, you know, I can't help it. He's just so funny to impersonate. Period 4 was PE, and we were in class doing pretty much nothing. That was when Lana turned around and asked why Andrew had given her the sandwich (Nutella, apparently. Wondering anything?), as it came out of the blue. Andrew said he had found it on the playground. At this point, I was thinking 'Some poor sucker's lost his sandwich. Wait...' So I checked my bag, and sure enough, my lunchbox was gone. I quickly established that it was, in fact, my sandwich, and many laughed (Ebony in particular thought it was great. I took it all in good humour, Lana apologised, and Andrew gave me money for the canteen. So it all worked out.). Then, we saw Tan playing 'Tekken 6' on PSP, which was awesome. Lunch was playing 'Mario Kart' over my DS against Eric and Shafi. Eric had an actual kart, so he was winning, but I was coming a close second (also, he drifts and I don't. So, yeah.).

Period 5 was Maths, in which we learnt all about parabolas, cubic curves and other such exponential curves. And by learnt, I mean we looked at the screen, and watched Rawson talk about it. Hey, we're not supposed to be doing work. And just because we are doesn't mean we actually take it into account. So, silent protest here. Period 6 was Drama, and we did more of the plays, and of course, I participated to some degree in every one of them. Probably because I love the comedic side of Drama; it's partially why I wanted to get into it. Eventually I got home and blogged, although not enough. So here I am.

Such was my day. I know this late posting has gotten out of control. There will come a day of relentless posting, and that will be soon. Trust me here. Later, titles will improve. Hopefully. You can never be too sure of that last one,

I liked that sandwich,

Hapkido and Humour

Do I honestly need to explain this one? There was humour, and I did hapkido. So, yeah. No further explanation needed. However, this also means the opening paragraph is a little shorter than I'd like. Although this little bit seems to be working. OK, I'll stick with that, but since I can't think of much else, I'll go into my day now.

Period 1 was Science, and we all went up to the computer rooms with Pitt, in order to graph the results of the height vs armspan measurements that we did a few days ago. And we found a correlation of about 1, which pretty much does mean that they were about the same, on average at least. In actuality, the points were scattered around the line of best fit, which means the measurements in approximate (by which I mean, your armspan will be approximately the same as your height, and vice versa.). We also went on something called WolframAlpha (link of website provided. If you want to know what it is, well, I'm about to tell you, and would have already done so if not for these brackets. So, yeah.), in which you input a question, and it gives you the answer. For example, you put in "Why is the sky blue?" and it tells you that it is Rayleigh scattering. Another example: put "pi to 15 decimal places" and it comes up with 3.141592653589793. That's pretty amazing (and it works to many decimal places of pi.). I recommend you try it. Period 2 was our year assembly, and it was rather funny, for two reasons. One was that Shane and Oscar did a performance that we originally saw in Drama. So while a few of us already knew what was coming, it was still funny. The second was that Mango did a brief stand-up routine, which wasn't entirely original (I'd heard at least one of the jokes before, and not from him.). Still, a lot of people enjoyed it, me included. Recess was talking.

Period 3 was English, and we had a lesson with Arnault for the first time replacing Hancock. We did the 'I Have A Dream' speech by Martin Luther King, which you may not have heard (I hadn't before today, which is slightly shameful), but you at least should have heard of. Having heard it now, I can say it was, and still is, a very good speech, and that you would have to be something other not to agree with him. Period 4 was Maths, and we were doing yet more work on parabolae from sheets. It is fetting rather boring, and Maths seems to be one of the only subjects in which we're doing work on the same level as before it all started to slow down. I'd say that's A1 for you, but other classes are doing it too. Ah well. Lunch was both playing DS and 13, which I somehow managed to juggle. I also got a massage from one of the random Year 7s that hang around with us. Why, I don't know, but it didn't feel too bad. Quite relaxing, actually.

Period 5 was Drama, and we were reading from plays from a play book. They were comedic plays, so we enjoyed it. I certainly did, as I took a role in almost every single play there. There was an absurd one, among others, which Tansy and I read from and a lot of other people didn't seem to get. It was very Monty Python (in that, it intentionally made little real sense), so of course I loved it. Period 6 was Commerce, and we had a substitute, Haracic (who I believe may or may not be a new permanent substitute. I don't think so, but I'm not sure what classes he teaches.), who got us to work from the textbook. Nobody actually did. It was mostly playing with some egg that may not have been an egg (hell, I was there and it didn't make much sense.). Eventually, I got home, and it was soon time for hapkido.

Grandmaster Geoff was here today, as was Shirisha. And I should know, as by a one of life's little coincidences, we were partnered together. I was slightly put to shame, as her kicks are better than mine (and I'm not sure whether that's taking into account belt colours. And no, that is not racism.). It wasn't a bad session; I enjoyed it, at least. And when I got home, I tried to blog, although evidently not quite enough. So here I am.

Thus was my day. It stands now in my blog, a testament to some random day (OK, I'm trying to think of new ways to start this closing paragraph. I actually don't think that that's too bad.). What isn't clear is the late post, of which is this is one. Annoying, I know. I'm trying.

Alliterative titling may be getting a little old,

Boats and Goats

OK, this title is what you get when you do very little exceptional things in the day, and so you pretty much just pick some random stuff from periods that rhyme (as opposed to being alliterative. I think 'alliterate' is the verb, although I just made that up. I am apparently right, which is cool.). You'll see what I mean by my title when I get to their respective periods. Now, let us get to my day.

Period 1 was Science, and we were doing something quite strange. Basically, we were given a piece of paper, and we could fold it or cut it however way we liked, as long as it remained in one piece (sounds simple so far). Then, we had to make it float in water (paper boats? They work. Although I wouldn't want to be out at sea in one.). Weights were then put on it, and the person who could find a way to put the most mass on the paper boat wins. There were several designs, but the winner was eventually Oishi, whose design supported 24 25 gram masses, in a total of 600 grams. It was pretty much a plain sheet of paper whose sides had been folded slightly up to stop water from getting in. It was a fun period (I got 14, by the way. My design was a regular sheet of paper, but with the sides curved up. It worked a lot better than I had thought.). Period 2 was Computer Maths, and we were doing something to do with distance-time graphs. Yes, they're back for more, after we were sick of them in Science (that sorta sounds like a Hollywood movie trailer. If you'll indulge me here... 'You witnessed the sheer horror in Science, and now they have returned: in your Maths period. Coming this summer... an Alan Smithee production... Distance Versus Time II: Deathematics.' I'm sorry, I just felt like doing that.). Recess was talking.

Periods 3 and 4 were Agriculture, and we went down to the goat sheds to do some foot paring (like cutting nails, but with goat feet. The hooves basically. Or is it hoofs? Apparently, both. How crazy the English language is.). Now, I've said before how goats hate me, and this was not disproven, as the group I got in (consisting of me, Ebony, Alan, Lana and Shirisha) found the only goat whose hooves were so misshapen that none of us could work out exactly what to cut. Even Schippers was a little confused. But we got through it, by which time it was about halfway through Period 4. So I spent the rest of the time not doing much at all. Standard double Ag stuff, really. Lunch was the same as Recess.

Period 5 was English, and we all got our exam results back (I got mine back yesterday, but still. The rest of the class got theirs today.). It seems the average mark was something like 31 or 32, so I am quite happy with my mark (although just because you get above average doesn't guarantee a good report. Last year, for example, I got slightly above average in the exam for English and got a C, but got slightly below average in History and got an A. Does this make sense? Of course not.). Period 6 was History, in which I read the book that I had started this morning, 'A Prisoner of Birth,' which is a really good book. I recommend it (although, I recommend the majority of Jeffrey Archer books, especially 'As The Crow Flies,' as well as 'Kane & Abel.' I was going to put more here, but I would be going on for a bit.). It was sort of a bludge. And after school, I went home, and I watched Hamish & Andy's yearly Christmas show, which we had taped. Damn, but it's funny.

Comments away, with one from the one person.
*Mango: I would like to remind you that females outnumbered males at the concert in a six-to-one ratio. I rest my case here.

This was my day. As you just saw, I got a comment, for the first time in a while. I do enjoy comments, although I don't require them (there is a difference between want and need. Comments are an example of the former rather than the latter.). Also, it's a little late, but I am trying to deal with that.

I sorta like that title, although I don't really know why,

Just Take It Off

I am fully aware of the double entendre there. In fact, I took the quote from 'I Gotta Feeling,' and I figured I might as well use it. What do I actually mean? I mean I stayed home, I took the day off (see?). And there you go. So, let's have a look at my day.

I woke up at 6 this morning, and in case you're wondering why I said that (I mean, I only say that when I'm not going to school. I'm assuming, of course, you didn't read the opening paragraph, though, as that would sorta spoil it.), it's because I did not go to school today. I did have a reason though, in that it was a closed weekend and everybody got back from camp last night, so not that many people would be going (it turns out only about 15 Year 10s actually went. So, wow, I guessed that one pretty well.). So I stayed home, where I tried to catch up on blogging (I know.). However, Dad bought a movie over Foxtel, which was something called 'Fired Up.' I hadn't seen it before (I hadn't even really heard that much about it, to be honest), but we watched it, and it was pretty good. Sure, it had a lot of cliche stuff in it, but it actually wasn't too bad. After we'd watched the movie, Dad and I then decided to go to Westfields.

While there, we had lunch (Red Rooster), and then we went out to look at books and games. I was trying to find 'Sims 3,' to see if it was any cheaper outside of 'Toys R Us' (result: it doesn't seem to exist outside of 'Toys R Us.' So, going great here.). I then found a game that I could buy EJ for Christmas, which I did, and will not say it yet as a result of it being a surprise. We then left Westfields, and retired to home, escaping to the air conditioned sanctuary (it was over 40 degrees outside, and it was goddamn hot outside.). Now, when there is a clear sky and it's 40 degrees, you would think it would stay that way for some time. Not so. Clouds began to gather, and it thus began to rain. Within the space of about 2 minutes, there was no rain, then some sprinkling, then it started bucketing down. Absolutely pouring. There were ferns down out the back, and all was drenched. Remember, this came out of a relatively clear sky. And of course, it just so happened that while it was pouring, Dad had to go and get EJ, while I stayed inside. By the time they were back, the rain had cleared up and the sun was out. I don't know what that means (I'm no meteorologist), but it at least means you gotta prepare for everything weather-related. I always bring my umbrella to school.

When EJ got home, he went out to the kitchen; and found what I had got him, as I had forgotten to put it in my room (in other words; crap.). It was 'Medieval II: Total War,' which I figured was something EJ would definitely love (he's gonna pay me back.). Only problem was that it wasn't installing on EJ's computer, and, at the time of posting, still isn't. So, sorta dodged a bullet that it didn't happen on Christmas Day. Anyway. Later, we sat down to watch comedy routines of both Eddie Murphy and Robin Williams. They are both hilarious, and I urge you all to see them (as well as 'Monty Python.' Not that Murphy or Williams are in that, but I just like to put that in there from time to time.).

This was my Friday. I should probably intensely apologise (intensely is not the right word here, but, who cares. Substitute a word of your choice here.) about late posting, but it's been done. Ditto for short posting, and even complaining about not being able to say those things. What has my closing paragraph become?

Self-reference, apparently,

The Asking

This is neither a play on words, nor a reference to anything, nor even an alliterative title. Something big just happened today; but it's something I did myself. It'll make much more sense when I explain what happens. Which is early on in the day, so it's the next paragraph. Anyway. Without further ado (and I'm trying to go quickly, as late posting is getting worse), let's have a look at my day, which I can say was probably a big step in my life.

Before school, I drew up my confidence to do something I've never done, nor ever really considered doing before I decided to do it yesterday: I asked a girl to the formal. I'm not going to say who it is on a public blog until it's all resolved (though I will say it when she answers, which I know due to the post being late to be tomorrow. Ooh, time travel powers!), but she said she'd get back to me. Period 1 was Geography, and we did some study for the School Certificate next week (damn, it's next week. It's closer than I thought.). We also got some marks back, for the multiple choice for Geo. Period 2 was Science, in which we looked at more depth into evolution, and we looked at different examples (you see, we can see evolution in some cases. Just not that many. One example is the peppered moth; Wikipedia article included for people who don't know what I'm talking about.) and how Darwin saw evolution, by which I mean natural selection (he didn't know about genes, of course). Recess was talking.

Period 3 was Agriculture, and we went out to the farm to have a look at the potatoes that we planted. And there were weeds everywhere. They were growing in between the beds, in the beds between the plants, in between the plots; it can certainly be said that the weeds thrived. Our soil was fairly bad, so it supported less weeds. Paradoxically, our potato plants were (arguably) a little better off for being in worse soil. But there were weeds, so we all spent the period trying to pull them out. It's a lot of work. Not hard, but a lot of it. I also talked to Ebony in the midst of all of it, about what I did in the morning (you know, about asking someone to the formal), as I trust her and it's good to hear it from a different perspective (as opposed to, say, Cam's. It's not that he's got bad advice, but there are a lot of different perspectives.). Period 4 was PE, and we watched Youtube again. This one was looking at Aboriginal health care, and so on. We also looked through those booklets. PE has become a bit of a bludge. Lunch was talking.

Period 5 was Maths, and we did stuff about probability trees. It's like the pulling out weeds that we did in Period 3: It wasn't hard. It was just repetitive work. The same basic thing over and over. It wasn't too interesting. I also had Justin and Karen guessing who I asked, and I barely said a thing (next post, next post...). Period 6 was Drama, and we had a hilarious improv bit, where a lot of people were called out to do some spontaneous comedy. A lot of people did a lot of funny things (I was going pun after pun in some cases), but at one point, Ebony walked out after refusing to do something and arguing with Kolodziej. It was fairly unexpected. We also did a 'Jerry Springer' bit, with Rutherford as Jerry and Tansy and Lucy going at it as the people on the bit. It was really good. To say they make a great comedic duo on the stage would be an understatement; they do in real life too. Constantly. I love doing Drama. And when the bell went, I went home, and I did some blogging. But obviously not enough by a wide margin, so here I am.

And that was my day. Tomorrow, a lot of the questions that have been left unanswered will go answered (who did I ask? What did she say? How will I react either way?), so stay tuned (I can't really say that for an internet site, but whatever. Keep reading, then.). I'll also see how posting goes for lateness. No promises though.

I still can't believe I asked somebody,

Melbourne Cup '09

It's been a while since I've done an event with '09' on the end of it (exams don't count.), but that's because nothing's been on. But there was something on, so, I title after the Melbourne Cup. Mainly because I can't think of much else. Anyway. ...Let's skip to my day, because I'm drawing a blank for this opener.

Period 1 was Agriculture, which, like prac PE yesterday, was the first one of the term, which is much more unlikely seeing as we have 4 periods of Ag in every cycle. Exams got in the way, mostly (at one point, the Ag exam got in the way). And we got out exams back. Ag exams and I have never got along, with the only consistently worse one being Japanese (for obvious reasons). Even Art and Music I did better (I was actually good at Music and Art theory, though I wasn't too good at prac. I could visualise it, but I couldn't actually do it. Ah well.). However, this exam I did well at, getting something like 86.5%, which is a good sign for things to come (I mean, if I can do well in Ag...). We then went down to the shearing sheds, to watch people shear sheep. And then we looked at some of the wool. That's Ag for you. Period 2 was Geography, which ended up being just talking with Hewie and Alan about stuff like Subway and Red Rooster. How we got onto that subject is a very good question. But we did, and we talked about that for a while. We also did some studying for the HSIE School Certificate. Recess was talking.

Period 3 was Mathematics, and we learnt about probability. Or, rather, we got taught basically the only two equations for probability that there are (there could be others, but I really can't think of them.). All the rest, apparently, is working out what the variables in the equation are. There was also a set of extremely funny jokes when Tri called out that Karen wet him. The class cracked up. Justin and Chris then, being smartasses, called out simultaneously that 'She was just watering the Tri.' The whole class laughed even more, with Rawson even laughing (you, see that's just the sort of pun that I wish I would have made. Ah well.). Period 4 was Science, and we started a new topic: evolution. It's a bit of a controversial topic, of course, but we didn't have any objections; is anyone else getting extreme déjà vu here? I really am (looking back on previous posts, I found that we started the same topic again when we had Bruce instead of Robson. I thought I remembered doing something similar.). Anyway. He explains it pretty well, and he made sure to put in that evolution doesn't necessarily clash with religion (which it doesn't, depending on how you look at it. If you take the Bible literally, then it sorta does clash a bit, but if you don't, evolution works. That's not to say I'm not atheist, but I accept that science and religion can coexist.). Lunch was cards, for the first time of the term. Don't know why we waited, other than that I kept forgetting the deck and we had exams on (actually, that works pretty well as an explanation).

Period 5 was Commerce, and we all went up to the library for some reason or other. It was never fully explained, and we didn't use the computers. So whether a class wanted our room, I don't know (I wouldn't think so), but we went up to the library nonetheless. I sat on a table with Jenny Tran, Oishi and Nancy, and we talked a lot about the formal and siblings and stuff like that, considering the work was relatively easy and completed quickly (it was that type of work where you just look through the textbook and write stuff down). Period 6 was English, wherein we looked at a poet called Keats, which you have probably at least heard of (he was the guy who wrote "Beauty is truth, truth beauty," which you really ought to have heard of.). I also found out that he wrote 'La Belle Dame Sans Merci,' which isn't French and I've always remembered from primary school for some reason. And when we got home, we watched the Melbourne Cup.

Dad had bought tickets for us all, as he does that. We all had $10 on different horses: Dad had 'Roman Emperor,' Mum had 'Newport,' EJ had 'Viewed' and I had 'Alcopop.' Before the race, though, we were looking at the horses, and I saw one called 'Shocking.' I thought that had a good name, so I went for that. And surprise, surprise, guess who won? 'Shocking.' That is the third time I've picked the Cup. Anyway. I then played some Battlefield Heroes, and ended up blogging for a while.

And that was my day. My posts have finally begun to get longer, which is good because I don't enjoy 500 word posts. Still, there's a major problem with lateness, and I'm trying to get out of it. Anyway. I'll try to get back up to date, but no promises on when.

Go 'Shocking,'

Hardcore Heroes

OK, I sorta like this title, if only because I didn't have a 'Thing and Other Thing' going on. A better alliterative title, as it were. Anyway. This'll be a bit of a shorter post, as it is on weekends. You just can't help it sometimes, even if you do like posting long.

I woke up at about 7:30, and I soon, after all my chores were done, went to finish the post about Thursday, before I did anything else. I have had enough of being two days behind in my posting; even one is too much, although, that sorta can't be helped in some cases. I want to get back so I actually post on the night (or, at the very least, the morning after), but that may take a while. Hell, I've been struggling with late posts since almost Day 1. Anyway. After I'd done that, I decided to play a little Battlefield Heroes. I played for a while, and I eventually got to Level 16. I put it into Explosive Keg, although at Level 18 I'll probably take it out and max out Leg-It. I didn't use Keg that much; I might switch it for I Eats Grenades. Of course, if you don't play BFH, you most likely have no idea what I'm talking about. I do, though, and that makes a difference. Dad then called me in, around lunch time, and invited me to watch a DVD, which was an Eddie Murphy one, called 'Delirious.' (Wikipedia knows what it is, and now so do you.)

In short, it was hilarious. I would not recommend it if you are adverse to people swearing. Also, a lot of sex jokes. Apparently, the f-word (I do not swear) is said over 200 times. It is really funny, and I bloody loved it. Usually, I'd recommend stuff like that, but I know it's not for everybody. Watch it though, just to have a look at it. It went for about 90 minutes, and I laughed for most of the way through. It was very good. After that, I decided to play some more Battlefield Heroes. For more than two hours. I ended up getting on Skype with John, and we two played on a team with Eric. We did pretty well, though we did lose one game because of snipers. On the most part though, we kicked ass. In one game, John and I got 14 kills each (I beat him in that round. Even though I got one extra death.). That was epic. I played until about 5:45, when it was time for dinner. I then spent the rest of the night, or something like that, blogging. And here I am.

Retro comments now, one for Friday's:
*Ebony: I can complain about titles if I want. And I didn't know the scientific definition of weight. I don't know everything in science. Just more than your average person, mostly because of my nerdiness.

And that was my day. Sorry about the very late post, and it will be explained soon. And now, for scheduling being off. That out of the way? OK. Tuesday's may be a bit longer than usual, because it's Melbourne Cup day. It's not usually my thing, but everyone watches it regardless.

A weekend of gaming is behind me,

Rest and Results

Could it be? Another alliterative post? I really had to, though, because I couldn't think of anything. Anyway. Rest means a break with no exams, and results means, well, I got some results. Pretty straight-forward, really. So, without further ado, to my day.

I got to school, of course, and before school, we talked about a whole range of stuff, mostly BFH related (isn't it always?). I also lent Shafi 'Five Greatest Warriors,' as I had finished it yesterday. It was epic, plain and simple. Anyway. First, it was Role Call, which was reading, of course. I was reading 'The Genius Wars,' by Catherine Jinks. I really don't like her 'Pagan' books, to be honest (having had to read them in English in Year 8 may or may not have had anything to do with it. Seriously, I don't know, but I don't think so. I can appreciate good novels. Anyway.), but her 'Genius' books are very good. Period 1 was Drama, in which we were making plays from prompts. Cam and I were in a pair, and we ended up doing this thing where Cam is selling stuff in a cosmetics store, and I am the guy buying it who is getting steadily ripped off. It's a bit like the scene with Rowan Atkinson in 'Love Actually,' if you've seen it, which is actually where Cam got the idea. Ours was apparently really funny (or so people told me; Cam did come up with some really good lines, such as the finder's fee in a shop: 'Well, I found this for you, sir.'), though I think Shane and Oscar were better. I mean, they're Shane and Oscar; they're hilarious (proof. Possibly conclusive.). Shane did the best American accent. He was a pretty good Basil Fawlty too. Period 2 was Maths, and as Rawson was late, we played hangman for a while (my skill in the game lies in three letter words, like 'dog.' But harder.). He did eventually get to class though, and we mostly talked about the format of the School Certificate, and to make sure that we avoid overthinking things, which I sometimes tend to do. Recess was talking.

Period 3 was PE, and in that, we got our assignment back (remember the one I handed in on the last day of term 3? That one.). I got 18/20, which I think is pretty good, considering how much time I spent on it (read: it was still getting finished after dinner on the day before it was due. What we were supposed to do in the period was work from the orange book, but instead, Wilson put on the computer, and (get this), went on Youtube. I had no idea the staff were able to go on Youtube, although I probably should have guessed. So the class pretty much just watched that. Lunch was talking, as usual.

It was then time for School Sport, and it seems we are getting lazier and lazier (I'm all for it, by the way.). We didn't even leave the main quad. No, really. What we did was cricket in the main quad, and I unfortunately got picked for the team of boarders. There were two teams: the Asians and Ebony, and the Boarders and AB, originally called Asians vs. Boarders before it was realised that Ebony and I counted for something. Our team won, and I had to bowl underarm, because it seemed nobody could actually play cricket, except for the occasional boarder who lost balls smashing them over the roof into the donut quad. Or maybe they just got stuck on the roof. Either way, they got lost. I think we lost 2 or 3. While playing, near the end, Kolodziej came by, and told me what I got for Drama. Which was 100%. No, really. I think that's the first time that has happened in an exam (not an assignment. That's been done before. But with exams.). Damn, that was good. After school, I talked to Ebony about string theory (I think it started with the Science exam from yesterday, and just kind of evolved from there. I'm just surprised that it happened.). After I got home, Dad did, and he had brought his friends from Canberra, Alan and Pixie, though I'm not entirely sure why. Around 7, we left for hapkido.

Shirisha wasn't here, but Grandmaster Geoff was. He tired us out a lot, and to top it off, Grandmaster Geoff doesn't give water breaks often. In an example of how he worked us, he gave us 20 of the 'Super Set of Six,' which involved tricep dips, wheelbarrow push-ups, and clap push-ups. No, really. It's a lot of work. I collapsed more than once. 20 just pushed me a lot. Anyway. I also got help with my reverse bear hugs, which I was sucking at. We ended up fixing it up, though, so that's out of the way (for now, anyway.). And when I got home, I tried to blog, but not enough. Ah well.

And that was my day. Sorry about the very late post, but, well, you knew that. I'll see if I can get back up on the weekend. There aren't any exams then, which is good. Tomorrow is Maths and HSIE, so be ready for a post similar to Tuesday. Except, maybe a bit longer. Who knows.

One more day of exams to go,

Floriade, The Festival of Flowers

That's right, I refer to Floriade (doesn't that sound like a Pokemon? I choose you, Floriade! Anyway. Enough of my nerd-like ways.), which is, according to Wikipedia, is gigantic for tourism in the ACT (proof). I have actually never heard of it, but Mum and Nanny have. What it is, in essentials, is an annual festival where they plant flowers in patterns, as well as having other stalls. I know that sounds bad, but it wasn't a really good explanation. Anyway. Yes, it is also an alliterative title, and I'm not especially happy with it, as I was with the last two. Well, without further ado (and I am going on a tangent a bit here), to my Sunday.

I got up at around 7, and got ready for the day (by 7, I think I'm referring to the new time, what with daylight savings and all. But I can't really be certain.). We left at about 8, and when I got out of the car, I noticed something: it was freezing. In hindsight, yes, I should have expected this (it is Canberra, after all), but I kinda figured it was spring and the sun should be out. But I was wrong, and it was cold. We waited for about 30 minutes, and then we went in. We first had a look at some stalls, and then we went to see the flowers. I wasn't particularly impressed, as I just saw the different coloured flowers (at which point I was thinking: 'Oh. Flowers. When are we leaving?'). However, after staring at the flowers and their corresponding signs (they had signs next to the groups of flowers), it gradually dawned on me: they were planted to make things (TV Tropes might call it Fridge Brilliance). They had a chessboard; an eye; a yin-yang symbol... from then on, the visit to Floriade got a lot better.

However, it started to rain, of course. Not pelting down, but not sprinkling either. That rain that you can bear, but only just. We did find some other exhibits, as it transpired that it was not just a flower show. We saw some bonsais (as in, the plural of bonsai. It looks weird in plural.); and they were pretty damn good. Not like the one I got a few years ago, in Japanese, which was 5 cm tall and got eaten by the dog. We also made a detour, after getting something to drink, to a Nintendo stall, which turned out to be a tent full of Wiis (again, the plural of Wii). It turned out that they had Mario Kart on the Wii, and of course, EJ and I had to play. I am proud to say that out of the three games we played, I came first out of 15 players (one of them EJ, one of them me, the rest computer) three times. After that, we went to a sports thing, which turned out to be a Little Athletics thing. Or at least some sort of athletics-type obstacle course for little kids. EJ, being EJ, goes 'That's easy!' and tries it. With hilarious results. He was going well until he tried to jump over some bars. He jumped on the third-last one, fell over the next one, and with a thud, came to earth with the last bar over him. It was hilarious. What made it even funnier is that immediately after, a 2 or 3 year old kid did with apparent ease. It totally made the trip worth it. We then bought some stuff (EJ bought a skull stamp and 4 of these long lollies. I got one as well, because I figured while I was there I might as well.), and went home, but not after stopping by the local shops to pick some stuff up.

About an hour after we got home (which was mainly spent reading), Uncle Nudge and his daughter Darcie (I have been referring to her previously as 'Darcy,' as I've never seen it spelt. I shall attempt from now on to write it as 'Darcie,' but no promises.) got home. So we played with her as a while (you really can't help yourself sometimes), and then the NRL came on. Everybody else began to watch it (even EJ!), so I was able to go on my laptop and do stuff for a while. It was mostly Spore, but it was more fun than watching the rugby. And for the rest of the night, I mostly just watched TV and went on my laptop.

And that was my day. Sorry about the late post yet again, but, well, I'm sure I've explained this before already. Anyway. I am going to attempt to really get back on track, but nothing's certain. Anything can happen.

Oy vey, restoring the schedule is hard,

Grins and Gridiron

Yes, it ain't the greatest title. However, this day was not one for a good title, so I had to turn to an online thesaurus (oh, how that thesaurus has saved my ass so many times), and look up comedy, because there was some funny stuff in my day. And grins worked. Yeah. Anyway. To my day, which has a late post, naturally. Blame assignments and society.

Period 1 was English, in which we finished the movie 'Shine' that we'd been watching for the past few periods. We're gonna be talking about it for the next few periods, which I think will be pretty good, surprisingly. Of course, I'd rather be talking about the assignment (it's due on Friday, dammit!), but this is good too, I suppose. Period 2 was Maths, in which we did some of the chapter review. It's fairly simple, and it was just pretty much working. You know, no bludging, no stressful work, just doing work. Recess was cards.

Period 3 was Drama, in which we went to the music rooms (since the Drama room was closed for the HSC music courses; go figure), and went to modernise 'Oedipus Rex.' I was with Cameron, and we twisted it up like crazy. The ancient Greek classic tragedy with King Oedipus in it turned into, after some brainstorming, into a comedy (or at least black humour. It's comedic, anyway.) set in the deep south of America (which is really funny considering what happens in the play) with the owner of a farm, Cletus (Cam's idea. I thought it was too 'Simpsony,' but I got shot down.). Period 4 was Commerce, in which we went to the computer rooms to start (get this) another assignment. I actually should be pretty thankful: all the other classes handed theirs in today, and we have 5 periods of class time to work on it. So I suppose it would save time clashing with all the other assignments (which are Science, English, Geography, Commerce and PE, in order of when they should be handed in). Lunch was the standard, although it did result in a pretty, shall we say, dramatic exit from me as I realised that I did not have my PE stuff with me. I said 'Excuse me' in a calm voice, then shot off like a rocket to the computer labs, with a loud 'Crap!' to sound my exit.

Periods 5 and 6 were double PE, in which we did Gridiron. I learnt from my mistakes of Monday, and decided that stopping people with my hands was perhaps not the best idea. However, I did take up the position of, when defending, stopping people with my shoulders and my body weight; and when attacking, either running around people or barreling straight through them. That was pretty fun, actually, and I don't think I really hurt people that much, which is lucky for me (except Corinne, though, when our arms smashed into each other. Sorry, Corinne!). And when I got home, I did some of my assignment, and attempted to print something. However, it turns out that there was no ink in the printer (and on the week when two assignments are due. Spectacular.), and I had wasted precious time. Oy vey. But I did get some done, though I didn't get to blog. So here I am.

And that was my day. This post was too late, but mainly because of hapkido, assignments, and a backed up post schedule. Everything's just happening at once, I suppose. Ah well. That's the way the world turns, hey?

Assignmenting will soon have to go into overdrive,

Damn These Assignments

I could come up with a title that is catchy, though it would probably become an exercise in futility as I will most likely end with an alliterative title and call it a day. Or, I could just say that I've had enough of these bloody assignments. 3 periods today were to do with assignments. 3! Anyway. Enough of my ranting and let's see my day, shall we? (Please note: most of that first paragraph was put there because I couldn't think of much. Although, you can't blame me on this one. Blame society!)

Period 1 was Geography was doing the Geo assignment, and it's coming along nicely, if a bit slowly. When some of the other, more urgent projects are completed, I can focus on that. And then I can begin to really focus on the PE project. It's just one of those terms where assignments never seem to cease; there's always another one ready to strike. Period 2 was Science, in which we had Bruce for the first 'official' time, by which I mean Robson left this morning, so Bruce has our class for the next few weeks, so this is his first day actually really teaching. And he started off spectacularly, giving us an assignment due Thursday week. A substitute gave us an assignment. It just doesn't seem to add up. The assignment was that he gives us a disease, and we then make a presentation on it. I did have rickets, but I was able to change it to juvenile diabetes, only really because I can ask Shay all about it. And a good thing too, Wikipedia has maybe two or three times as much on juvenile diabetes than of rickets. Recess was 13, of course.

Period 3 was Ag, in which we went down to the farm to finish up our hoeing. And about time too, although I have enjoyed listening to Tom Lehrer on my iPod. We got into groups, and drew straws to see what row we would fix up. I drew for my group, and got the best row, so for most of the period, we just added a bit of dirt here and there. All of the other groups, though, threw rocks at our row, presumably because we had the best one. Period 4 was PE theory, in which we got into groups, and tried to work out how it would stop us finding out health information, which was a much better period than it sounded. I made many a joke, such as what a doctor would tell you if they didn't speak very good English ('Go find better doctor!'), and a major problem with parents who didn't speak English. In parent/teacher interviews, Wilson gets the kids to translate. Do you see the problem with this? What happens if Wilson tells the kid to tell the parent that they are doing bad at school. Aha!

Lunch was cards, and in which yet another funny thing happened. Andy said 'Get a life!' for some reason. One kid, who was passing by (perfectly ordinary; he was just some kid who happened to be walking near us at the time), just said, out of the blue, 'You get a life, Andy!' And just kept walking. Like nobody had said anything. He hadn't even stopped to say it. He was just walking. It was hilarious; Kevin and I just cracked up. Period 5 was the Year Assembly, in which the school song was slow and the national anthem was fast, and in which Norris talked on and on in a monotone for about half an hour. Period 6 was Drama, and our group was celebrating the finish of our assignment. While going through all of the parts, Shane then asked, 'Who did the justification?' We all looked at each other. Somebody (I think it was Cam) asked 'What justification...' I then asked Shane if he had the notification, and he got it out. There it was: 400-500 words. We all scrambled, and it was up to me to do it, as I wrote the quickest. I wrote and wrote, pretty much continuously, for 45 minutes. I got one and a half pages done, trying to remember the ad, then making up elements such as music and fitting it to the ad. It was tough work. When I got home, I blogged a bit, and I was also able to play Battlefield Heroes for a bit. But I didn't really get to post, so here I am.

And that was my day. Sorry for my late post, with assignments and all that, I wasn't really able to post. And if you don't like it, then I simply say it's my blog. So, yeah. I can't think of any ideas for the closing paragraph (yeah, I know), so I'll just finish up here.

I have had enough of late posts,

Quests and Comedy

By which I mean there was a Talent Quest, and a lot of funny things happened. Well, some funny things happened. OK, my title is slightly faulty. Anyway. Let's get to my day, although I do want to point out that I now have over 150,000 words. I mean, I got it a few days back, and I only just really noticed, and put it in my post. So, yeah. Hooray for 150,000 words!

Period 1 was Ag, in which we did some work on the potato moth. It wasn't too hard; I'd done most of the sheet in the last Ag lesson in which we had theory (which was quite a while ago), so all I really did was copy some stuff from the board and finished my book, 'The Three Musketeers.' I ordered it in March, bought it in April, then left it on my shelf for a few months (I love how I can just check my blog for that, which I obviously did). And I now regret it, for it is a good book. It's not as good as 'The Count of Monte Cristo,' but it is still very good. Period 2 was Geography, in which we went down to the computer rooms to do our assignment. It just never ends. Although something really funny did happen: Tan was being sent out of the room for something (it was never really made clear and Johnson didn't say why), and after he went out, Johnson just sighed and said 'Epic fail.' It was just funny because Johnson seems like the exact wrong person who would ever say 'Epic fail.' It was completely unexpected and out of place and therefore hilarious. She also quizzed Hewie about why his assignment wasn't handed in, and he replied, 'I'm with AB.' Johnson scratched her head and said, 'What's an AB?' (if you're confused, and you really, really shouldn't be, look at the top of this page.) Oy vey. Recess was 13, as usual.

Period 3, which was supposed to be Maths, was instead going down to the hall to see the Talent Quest for Year 10. I had been tossing up doing it, but under consideration I realised that my talents would not be suited to the Talent Quest. I can memorise songs, but I can't sing; and I can recite the Periodic Table, but whether it would be a good idea for the Quest would be another story. There were many performances, with the three that stand out in my mind being Pradeepti singing 'That's What You Do When You Love Someone' (I don't actually know the song, but that's how the chorus went), Cameron singing 'Mary Ellen Carter' (Pretty sure that's it), and Project Wonderful (I think; it was a dance group) dancing to something. I reckon first would be a toss-up between those guys. Period 4 was Science, in which we had Bruce instead of Robson. Yeah. We mainly did questions, but another funny thing happened. Somebody saw a spider on the roof (it wasn't small-fry either, maybe 3 or 4 cm in diameter) of the science block, and Andrew flinched about a metre back. Then Tan, being a smartass, flicked it off the roof in Andrew's general direction. He absolutely bolted, all the way from the science room to past the donut. The poor spider got trampled by somebody else in the process. Lunch was 13, of course, with a few games of 13, and Speed between me and John.

Period 5 was Commerce, in which we talked about trade unions, what professions are in which unions, and the history of trade unions. Which was actually more exciting than it sounds, which, I suppose, would be impossible otherwise. Kearney was also talking about Year Assembly, and how they needed somebody to do something for it. So I said, not really loudly, that I would recite the Periodic Table. However, he heard me, so I may end up doing that. So I'll have to keep an eye out for that. Period 6 was English, which was talking about how yet another character in the book is an Odd One Out. Oy vey, just let it rest already. Although, the character we were discussing was a gangster (and I'm talking about organised crime here), so it was fairly easy. Tan also said something epic (yet another comedy instance): We were talking about domestic violence for some reason (a case of going off on a tangent), and Hancock said something about fists being the main weapon used. Tan, who misheard, looked up and simply said 'Fish?!' After which the whole class cracked up, of course. I mean, it was just hilarious (although fish have appeared in other accidental humour as well. Proof.). When I got home, I blogged a fair bit, trying to catch up. And I did, finishing Monday's post and getting halfway through Tuesday's. But halfway isn't all the way, so this is why the post is late.

And that was my day. Sorry for the lateness and everything, but things just seemed to keep getting in the way. I will attempt to get back on schedule and... you know what, I'm getting tired of talking about my schedule. When I start posting right, then you'll know. Until then, just bear with me.

I have also attempted to stop talking about how good titles are,

Another Bloody Friday

Usually Fridays are great for me. But my Friday today, well, was not as good. Mainly because I got my report. Which sucked. As well as a few other things that just didn't seem to go the right way. Ah well. Just one of those days, I suppose. Though we have to blame someone: I say society. Also a late post, because that happens.

Mum drove me to school today, as it was Dad's day off and my brother's back is playing up. The silver lining to his medical condition: he gets to stay home from school. Whereas the silver lining to my braces is probably an actual silver lining (they're shiny. Why aren't you laughing?). Anyway. Period 1 was English, in which I confused Hancock by going on about Ebony's aeroplane infatuation. I also confirmed he had seen 'Holy Grail.' In the period itself, we all talked about Animal Farm and its relation to the Russian Revolution. About halfway through, however, this Senior came in to do a speech. I ended up being the timekeeper and bellringer. She was really good, and she gave me a bit of unintentional hope about my English speech: People can, in fact, talk about something for 5 minutes. Why can't I do 4? (That was a rhetorical question. Please don't answer it.) Next was Maths, which was doing something with converse results (i.e.: a is b, but does the opposite, b is a, true?). I didn't see much of a point, though. Next it was Assembly, in which some NSW government member from the Greens came along to talk about the selling of the school. And he was a really good speaker, although being a politician I probably shouldn't be surprised.

Recess was cards, but instead of 13, we played Bull (it actually has a longer name, but I don't swear). It's a good game, but I suck at it. I'm not just bad, I'm terrible. But it's fun. So I don't really care. In this game, it's actually fun losing. Period 3 was Drama, in which we made an ad to sell something. Anything. First was Jayson's group, who were funny. They were selling Lana, or 'Anal Backwards!' Numerous, hilarious jokes were made, and even Kolodziej didn't tell them off. He was too busy struggling not to laugh. We all were. Then it was Allie's group, who tried to sell a heater. And then us. Though we couldn't go after Jayson's group. It was just too much. Next it was Commerce, in which we started a new topic, which is Employment. We didn't do it for long though, because we got our reports back. Oh, crap. I got 5 A's, 3 B's and a C. yes, the C was English. At this point I could go on a long rant about the English exam, but I won't. Even I'm getting tired of it.

Lunch was more Bull, and when the bell went, I noticed I hadn't touched my mandarin. Or my drink. Or my bloody Recess drink. Cards distracted me. Note to self: don't do that. Periods 5 and 6 were prac PE, in which we played some sport called Tchoukball (Wilson said Czechoslovakian, Wikipedia says Swiss. Now I don't know what to believe.), pronounced 'Chook-ball'. In essentials, you throw a ball at a trampoline, and if someone else on your team catches it, it's a point. It's somewhat confusing, but once you get the hang of it it's really good. When we started to play, we ended up getting, on my team, me (of course), Tan, Estelle, Shirisha and Uyen. We lost both games we played. I say it's because Uyen actually did not do anything (she stood to one side and moved out of the way if we threw it to her). That's my opinion, anyway. After school, Dad took us to Westfields to see if we could find a present for our reports (my Dad's awesome like that). But I couldn't find anything, so I'm saving it for later. At home, I went on my laptop. I meant to blog about Friday on Saturday, but, well, see next post for an explanation.

To comments, 3 from arguably-2-but-really-3 people:
*Ebony: Stop comparing the days on order of how good they are. You are not an aeroplane.
*Kevin: I have little idea about what you just said. But it sounds bad. So, that sucks.
*Ebony: No. No you're not.

And that was my Friday. Sorry for the incredibly late post, things kept getting in the way. It happens. I've already caught up with my schedule, I'm not letting it fall back again.

Damn my procrastination,

No Work But Wit

Yes, I couldn't think of a title that summed up today as not doing any work as well as a funny kind of day. I mean, really couldn't think of a title. That's the best I could come up with. These things happen. Hmm, who to blame, who to blame...

First was Role Call, in which I read, as usual. I also noticed how everyone came back. I mean, there were 13 people here yesterday, and now everyone is here. It was weird. Anyway. Period 1 was Science, which was starting the topic on genetics. We just basically watched a video about genetics and Gregor Mendel. It was a fun, bludgy period. Next was Computer Maths, which was some messing around on Geometer's Sketchpad with circles. I love Geometer's Sketchpad. I didn't get to do my spare Sketchpad project (make a person on it for some reason), Recess was the usual.

Period 3 was Ag, in which we all went out to see the goats. In I think Michelle's words, there was an 'estrogen sigh,' as all the girls simultaneously saw the baby goats. I also copied down the Ag assignment due next term (dun dun dah!), as I couldn't find the sheet. But don't tell Schippers. Anyway. The whole period was fun, if for the fact that we did no real work. I also possibly conclusively proved that goats don't like me. I couldn't even get them to eat hay. And they were eating it like no tomorrow. But not when I tried to give it to them. Bloody goats. I may like them; the feeling is not mutual.

Lunch was the usual, as well as trying to salvage my cards after a session of throwing them around again. Cards are for playing, not for throwing. Then, it was School Sport, which was soccer. And, I sucked. More than usual. The first time I went to get the ball, as it was coming toward me, I went to kick it. Instead of forward, it went behind me to the right. And it all went downhill from there. So for the rest of sport, I tried to come up with jokes. I got one. I've just created a new political system: it's gonna be in schools everywhere. Basically, it's a combination of Capitalism and Marxism. The main point behind it is that if you know your Capitals, you get good Marx. I love puns. Nobody else does. Shame.

When the bell went, we went up to outside the Donut Quad, and after Victor left (because we know Ebony doesn't like to talk to anyone else while Victor is present), we all told each other jokes. I started with my favourite: 'I'd tell you the joke about the blunt pencil, but there's no point.' (Why does nobody like that? That's hilarious!) Then a Year 11 who was there told a similar joke: 'I'd tell you the joke about the butter, but I don't want you to spread it.' These are brilliant. But here's the thing: the internet doesn't know about them. Well, thanks to my blog, it does now! You're welcome, internet! After school, Ebony's 'people' weren't there, so we talked on the bus. At one point, she said something that was pretty good (I forget exactly what it was), so I tried to come up with a joke. It eventually went something like 'I like the way you think. And you, and you...' (in reference to her voices. Why aren't you laughing?) Then at home, I blogged a bit, and then it was time for hapkido.

Today marks 3 months since I officially started hapkido, which means that all that stands between me and the orange belt are signatures. Hooray! Shay didn't come again today, so I went alone. There weren't too many people in class today. Not even Grandmaster Geoff. Anyway. I decided not to get signatures today, if only for the fact that I want an extra lesson just to straighten things up. My right back rolls are also now fine. I have no idea what happened on Monday. And when I got home, I blogged. As usual.

To comments, and surprisingly I actually have one. Here we go:
*Ebony: Tuesdays are indeed good. I also have no idea how to respond to that second sentence. ...What, that's it? Only 7 words, 8 pushing it. This is sad. Really.

And that was my Wednesday. And guess what? I've caught up! Thank god! This is good news. And it only took me a week. But the point is, with a few hours of non-major procrastinating (i.e., not just doing something else), I could have caught up whenever. Meh.

Thank god these long blog breaks are finished,

Thank God For Fridays

Not Thank God It's Friday, but Thank God For Fridays. Also I couldn't think of a better title. And I better post quickly, it's almost time for my next post. Weekend procrastination, people. That and projects. That and AFL. That and Conway's Game of Life. And so on and so forth.

Period 1 (yeah, I'm getting there quickly) was Geography, which was, come to think of, doing bugger all. A complete and utter bludge. I love the periods of complete and utter bludginess. And no doubt spellcheck is going to 'BLUDGINESS ISN'T A WORD! NEITHER IS BLUDGE!' To which I say: shut up spell check. I feel like randomness today. Next was Science, which was just writing some stuff on waves. It ended on awesomeness though, with Robson showing how electricity creates radio waves; using an actual radio. We also had to stand back because it was producing X-rays as well. My nerdy sense is tingling! It's this type of thing that makes me want to be a physicist; the fact that this can do that or produce that or imply that, and showing exactly how it happens and how we can harness it... That is why I like Science. But, I'm way off topic.

Assembly was mostly talking about the Hurlstone farm (save it by doing the walkathon... even if it's in Lunch time) and the social (which I'm going to). That last one had the best promo video ever, and to top it off I found it on Youtube. Enjoy. Recess was the usual. Period 3 was Ag, which for some reason involved me thinking of rapper names for myself. The best I came up with were MC Squared and Cold Fusion. But on further investigation, MC Squared had been taken (goddamn it). So I am now Cold Fusion (yo, this is Cold Fusion, kickin' it old school), and not MC AB as John would like people to think. In short, I want to be this guy. Anyway. Next was PE, which was writing all about stress. What stresses me out most: lack of time. Damn that! I also almost fell out of my chair trying to see something on the board while Wilson was in the way. Rest assured everyone who saw it (Courtney, Ebony, the whole row behind me) laughed, and many (Corinne I know for sure) wished they'd seen it. Funny for others... and I suppose for me. I enjoy a good laugh.

Lunch was the usual, again. Period 5 was Maths, which started off doing no work and quickly degenerated into showing Mango Conway's Game of Life, which surprisingly he enjoyed. I actually did all the steps by hand, which is much, much slower than the computerised version. Still nerdy fun, mind you, but slower. Last was Drama, in which we got stuff done for our assignment. It involved a lot of arguments, but we actually got somewhere. I also turned out to be the robber, so my guess is that I'll have something like 4 lines. So I can't really stuff it up. Hopefully. My Drama journal still needs to get done though. I hate this journal. 4-5 pages is horrifying for 4 periods of work. Note to Kolodziej: Stop. This. Journal. NOW. When I got home, I did a bit of my assessment, played some DS, and ended up watching the Blues-Saints game. We almost won. Almost. But considering Fevola only got two goals, Judd went off with a broken nose in the fourth quarter, Thornton was out, and the Saints are on top of the ladder, I think we did really well to only lose by 9 points. Hell, we almost won. That's great in my book, considering the teams involved. But I didn't get to post, so here I am, posting very, very late.

Comments: one from one person. And I was lucky to get that. But it's better than none.
*Anon: Yes, surprisingly, I have finished. I finished around 4 on Saturday. So Sunday will be spent enjoying the free time. Then it's back to work with the Drama project. *sigh*

Well, that was my Friday. Sorry for the late post, things like footy and school got in the way. Explanations to come next post. Which may be another procrastinated post. I blame society.

Damn Drama!,

That's Monday For You

It was a crazy, crazy day. Bloody Mondays. All this shall be explained.

I was dropped off at school by my Dad around 8:20, and for the before school random conversation, we talked about 'Scissors-Paper-Rock-Lizard-Spock,' as well as who Spock is (Eric didn't know), and other such random topics. More people need to see Monty Python. This I know. Period 1 was English, in which we got a sub, and was pretty much a bludge (we didn't even get in the classroom until 15 minutes in.). Next was Maths, which was doing some revision work on factorisation and such (and actually involved work. It was just the right kind: some thinking, but not much.). Recess was 13, with Eric's cards. This was slightly annoying (well, more than slightly), because they just excluded me (it wasn't malicious, let me get that clear. It was all in good fun.). I also kept mispronouncing words ('Sut up' springs to mind), which was also very annoying. But fun.

Period 3 was Drama, which was doing more of our characters. If I remember correctly, Rutherford (or Pickle, if you like) was an old man who fought in a war ('I fought and died for you!'), and disliked all technology and young people. Very funny. Emma did a rehash of the Bondi bimbo (also funny), and then I decided I would do my 'Viktor Ivanovich Stanislav' impersonation. Rest assured several jokes were made about me being apparently Communist. In fact, most questions were about that. But, apparently, my accent was pretty good (I didn't think it was that good, but there you go.). Next was Commerce, which was doing some work on capital punishment up at the computer labs. That was another bludgy period. Lunch was playing 13, again (and I'm surprised I played as much as I did).

The last two periods were PE (how do you like these paragraphs, Ebony?), which was another session of AFL. First we did some drills, and for one of them, you had 2 goes to try to get into one of the squares set out on the field through kicking or handballing, and if you got it in one, you got a number of Redskins depending on which square it got in. I was the only one in the class who got it in (pure luck, I aimed for one square and got the one next to it), and now Wilson owes me 3 Redskins. I collect them on Wednesday. Sweet. Then we played some actual games. I was in a team with Courtney, Andrew and Corinne, so we won both our games. Michelle was also in, and she did OK (better than me in any sport besides AFL). Ebony was also in our team, and I don't really want to get in to how well she did. If you want to fill people in in the comments, then go for it. For the last 10 minutes or so, we played a big game, with the whole class involved. I think that ended up in a draw. Then, when I got home, I got into my Geo assessment (I'm still to do half a page more on Q1 and 2, and a page on Q3). Then around quarter to 7, it was time to go to hapkido.

Today's hapkido class was a stand-out one, in that my uniform actually stayed fairly done up (and if you do hapkido, you know that's hard.). I mean, towards the end it was pretty loose, but all in all... Anyway. I found out the woman black belt's name (Tina, I think), and I've also taken a liking to multiple grabs. They're fun to do (the only downside was that the teacher we had didn't allow locks on white belts. Damn, they're fun, even if they hurt.). I also learnt that my kicks need a lot of work. So I'll have to do some practice on them. Near the end of hapkido, Shay told me that I'm apparently going to the disco with a friend of hers, Kyona, on a date. Now, she told me that tonight, and hasn't told Kyona yet. I'm not sure if she's taking the piss out of me. But, I can't wait for the disco.

Comments: 2 from 2 people. Let's get to it.
*Mango: Why bother? Because it's awesome. And I have seen some episodes of 'Some Mothers,' and it seems pretty good. Hmm.
*Ebony: Yes, you are awesome. There. I said it. And I love the idea as well, it is now my deciding game of choice (I hope people get that.). I love the song as well, it shall soon be on my iPod. And we did not name our fish, and can't distinguish between them anyway. Weekends do not suck. Maybe I should make a list of things I disagree with you about. It would include weekends, 42 and Stephenie Meyer. To name a few. Anyway.

I'll have to finish now; I'm posting as fast as I can. Tomorrow I'll probably do a lot of work on that Geo thing, and I'll hopefully get around to some of my book. Hopefully.

Tuesdays are greater than Mondays (but, what isn't),

Another One of Those Days

Yep, it was just another one of those days. 'Just My Luck' was already taken. Damn me! But, I'll get to how it was another one of those days.

I caught the bus to the station, and on the way to school the train stopped (in its tracks!). I also left my phone on overnight (absentmindedness strikes again). Period 1 was Science, which was doing more circuit work, and me proving that bulbs left on the highest voltage get very hot very quickly. With my hand. Next was Geography, which was starting a new topic on 'Urban Growth and Decline' (reading from the textbook), and getting our assessments back. I got 11/15, which is OK (speaking of which, my Dance got 26/30. W00t!). Recess was, as usual, cards, but Eric came along to play some 13 as well. So we had 5. Victor, come back and play 13. We barely have enough people to play. You could bring Ebony; she likes 13, I think (actually that's not a bad idea...). Period 3 was English, which was listening to a CD of 'Macbeth', which could have been a lot better. Witch 3 sounded like she was in a casual conversation, rather than as an evil witch. 'Oh, yeah, that will be the ere the set of sun. Yeah.' Anyway. Maths was me (and prepare for nerdiness on a grand scale) using Newton's Method of Approximation for finding square roots (I won't get into it) on negative 1: and coming up with a set of chaotic numbers. One small change in the beginning number and down the track there's a whole different number. But, I digress.

Lunch was 13 and 31, of course. They're fun (though I maintain that 13 is better and, contrary to Shafi, that 13 is awesome. Or, mawesome.). Period 5 was Drama, which was getting into the minds of the characters we created, and some people went up front and got asked questions. I'm going next period. Tansy was brutal to Lucy; she was describing people (I was 'glasses kid.'), and she got both 'tall girl who looks like she gets around' and 'legs and little else.' Epic Win. That was one of the funniest things I have ever heard in Drama (though Professor Blueberry and the Crocodile is still up there.). Next was Commerce, which was little work. Then, skip all the way to home, and around 5-ish, I had to go to the orthodontist.

This is why it was one of those days. Long story short: Guess who needs braces (and the answer isn't Victor. Lol, Victor with braces... where was I?). Yeah. Me. 21 months. But, it's good for my health, I suppose. And, I'll get nerdier (which will be funnier.)

Comments; 2 from 1 person? Really? Ah well. Better than none, I suppose.
*Victor: No. No I don't get that. It might be a Shakespeare reference, but I don't see how it makes much sense. How did your backpack get set alight? And better ways to spend your time? Bring her along. Everybody's happy!
*Victor: Wow, that comment was completely and utterly pointless. You said your first comment was first, then pointed out that this comment was second. Maybe you should have just said 'This comment is second' and be done with it. (Oh lord, what have I started.)

Finishing up my Tuesday. Usually I like Tuesdays. Wednesdays are good too, because there isn't as much work. Tomorrow I'll probably do a lot of work on my book; I'm ploughing ahead in the plot, and I have an idea to get rid of a problem in the plot (I need something to work off which seems natural in the course of things and still serves the plot idea), which if there's a trilogy will make for a kick-ass idea in the third book. If you want to ask me about my book, come ask, I've talked to a few people already. Anyway.

I am soon to be A Bracewearer,

The First Bludge of the Term

The title says it all. Today was a big bludge. And, I got 2 comments today. Come on! I thought times were looking up. But anyway. To blogging.

Period 1 was Maths, which was the first of the bludges. Faulds didn't show up for the first 15 minutes or so (so I played iPod Solitaire), and the last half of the lesson was spent playing Calculator Cricket with Mango. I'm not sure if that's actually what it's called. Anyway. It's that game where we both use the random number generator on the calculator, and we see who wins. I lost 24-20. The worst play was when he got 21. And I got 1. That was ridiculous. Anyway. Next was Drama, which was in Room 38 instead of our regular room. It was all about the meaning behind every TV show. They claimed that the meaning behind the 'The Simpsons' was to use humour to highlight the 'foibles of modern life.' I say they're overthinking it. They highlight the foibles to create humour. The point of 'The Simpsons' is to make people laugh. There is not hidden meaning in everything. That's one of the things I don't like about abstract art. It's a bunch of splotches that are supposed to mean something. This is good, it looks like something. This is retarded. Anyway. Moving on. Recess was 13, with John, Kevin and Andy. Next was Commerce, which was doing more work on Law. We also found out the name of the new teacher who was sitting in for all those classes last term. It's Miss Fox-Coleman.

Period 4 was Science, which was doing some prac work on electrical circuits. NTR work: No thought required. Then Lunch, which was 13, then 31, then the ESP game, with Kevin, John and Andy. The ESP game was a game I came up with one day when I got bored, but it's actually really fun. Everyone guesses a card (say, the four of hearts), and then you reveal one after everyone's guessed. If you get the suit, it's one point; if you get the number, it's two, and if you get both; it's three. It's a game involving basically all luck, but it is really fun. I love it. In the end, Andy won by one point. Period 5 was English, which was full of Tiana-isms, like 'Did Shakespeare really write 'Romeo and Juliet?'' and my favourite, all about the Queen of England. 'How does the Queen make money?' she asked, which was a fair point. Hancock started talking about how if she comes here, we (Australia) pays for everything. Then Tiana said 'But why?' So Hancock, being funny, said 'She's on all the coins.' But Tiana took it seriously, so she said, 'Well, so are kangaroos, and we don't do it to them!' Oy vey. She is funny. Last was History, which was doing a bit more work. Then at home, I went on MSN, and listened to Billy Joel (I have 'The Entertainer' in my head today.). And here I am, blogging.

To comments: 2, from 2 people, which is probably to be expected after the late post. Hmm.
*Ebony: I love school sport, it's fun, and you can get away with not doing much. But for some reason, when I play Sport (with the exception of rugby, for the sheer reason that I completely suck at it), I actually put in. I mean, I don't seem like the type of person that'd do that. Hmm. And 31 is not really like 21, except that you have to make up a number. It's much easier to explain it by playing it.
*Anon: What's 13? What's 13. I'm not even going to dignify that with an answer.

Well, I'm gonna wind up now. Tomorrow I have PE, and I may be doing AFL. Which will be awesome. It could be the only sport I'm better at than the average person. Maybe.

It's the end of April already (how time flies),

A Long Day of Doing Nothing

That's basically been my day. A long day of doing nothing. A good kind of nothing, though (I love stealing from myself.). So I'm going to do another list (incredibly random). But anyway. To my day.

I woke up around 8:15 (thank god), and watched TV for a while. Then after breakfast, we had to clean the house. Then, once that was finished, I got onto my computer, for a while. Then we had to go up the shops, to pick up some stuff, and for my brother to get a haircut. I will get to that. We went to Casula Shops, and specifically to K-Mart. I was looking in the books section (of course), and I came across 2 editions of 'Angels and Demons': One normal, and one of those 'movie edition' books, as the movie of 'Angels and Demons' is coming out (which I will be going to.). The normal one was $19.99, and the other was $21.99. Which makes you wonder why they'd stock both editions, next to each other, no less. It just seemed really stupid. Anyway. Then I got dropped off at home, while my Mum and my brother went out so he could get a haircut. After about an hour of MSN, surfing the net and listening to the song stuck in my head repeatedly ('The Final Countdown' by Europe. There was a band called 'Europe.' I've never understood why. It's just asking for misunderstanding. But, I'm off topic.). When they got back, I looked at my brother, and flinched. Seriously, flinched. He had hair down to his neck; now it's like mine. It's freaky. I'm still not used to it. Then for basically the rest of the day, I went on my laptop. Surfing the net, for want of something else to do. Not many people are on MSN. I talked to Ebony, Leeza and Victor. I'm still talking to Leeza and Victor. And I'm blogging of course. But that's it.

Now the random list. This is a bit of a specific one, so I'll explain. I was Googling "AB: A Blog", for some reason, and near the bottom was a title that read: 'blogging >> Blog Archive >> AB: A Blog: Too Much Too Quickly.' I clicked on the link, but the blog had apparently been deleted. But Google had cached it, so here it is. It looked like one of my posts had been translated in and out of English, then put onto some random person's blog. I don't why or how they got it, but they did. And now, without further ado: The strangest phrases from the strange post of my post.
*Another epoch of ictus: That sounds randomly awesome. It's one of those things that are so bad it's good. I feel like just renaming my blog that. Cross-checking with the actual post (which i did with the other phrases) and I got 'Another day of stress.' It was funny.
*Which means I own to fill old-fashioned both ends convene modish ones in a minute: Now what the hell was that? I can't even begin to understand that. It's like something from a really bad dub. I think it came from 'Which means I have to get new ones soon,' which sort of makes sense, but it's still way off.
*My uncle is a grievous perforate in it, I over (which I due coordinate old-fashioned apropos today): I give up. I think they just picked random words out of the dictionary. Although, it would be awesome in a ridiculous-and-faintly-disturbing sort of way if my whole blog was done like that. But, I digress. It seems to have come from 'My uncle is a black belt in it, I think (which I just found out about today).' They seem to love the word 'old-fashioned,' as it's scattered all throughout the 'translation.' I think it comes from the word 'out,' although how is beyond me.

OK. Moving on from that strange thing, comments. 8, from 5 people. Which is pretty good.
*Victor: I don't know why you'd be afraid to be first. I'm fine with comments that actually mean something, and are first. First for the sake of first is too much.
*Karen: That's fine, my blog is not the be-all and end-all. And yes, 6:45 is ridiculous. But 1:10 pm is just as out there. And don't remind me about the rapidly disappearing holidays. Please.
*Victor: He's right.
*Mango: Okay...
*Mango: Now we have another paragraphing stickler. And 'Disagree with AB' Day would surely be a a failure. As soon as I recognise that that is the day, everybody would say it isn't.
*Mango: I am.
*Ebony: Every new idea. That is what I'm doing. But the ideas go on forever. And stop complaining about Stephenie Meyer. She is awesome. Yes, there is a lot of hype. But for a good reason. Again: I'll shut up about paragraphs if you stop bagging Meyer.
*Rosa: I love NSW too, but if I had to move, it'd be to Canberra. And maybe she's overrated, but I think she's good. (See Ebony? We have a reasonable person here.)

Going to finish up now. Tomorrow I think I'm going out for dinner, so the blog will either be really early or really late. So a heads up there.

There's that day of relaxation (finally),
