Another One In the Dust

OK, there was a dust storm in Sydney today; I'll get to that, most likely in the first real paragraph. But, you know, I had a most favourable opportunity to quote Queen (what other songs have 'dust' in them?), and I did. You know how I love Queen, and if you don't, you really should. Anyway. Let's have a look at my day, which was just downright bizarre in some cases.

I woke up at 6, as I do, and I looked out of the window, you know, just glancing. The whole of the outside was a dark orange colour, almost red. It seemed like the windows were tinted; it was freaky. It was as if the house had been teleported to Mars. Wikipedia already has an article on it (I mean, wow, that was quick), but it also has a picture. The outside of my house looked something like this (I didn't take this picture, mind you. But the whole of Sydney looked like this, so, yeah.). It started to clear after a while, after powerful winds swept the dust cloud away, gradually but surely.

When I got to school, most of the dust cloud had gone, but there was still dust on almost everything. Periods 1 and 2 were PE, in which Wilson said that, due to health problems caused by the dust, we couldn't go outside. So what we did for the two periods was go into the dance studio and look for magazine cutouts in Men's Health and those types of magazines for our PE scrapbook (which is due Friday week. Goddamn!). However, as I'm doing road safety, and that was in none of the magazines (I didn't really expect it to be), I just read the mags, read some of the book I brought, and worked out the plot for the book I'm trying to write. I haven't looked at it in a while, and I thought that I might as well get back to it.

Recess was 31, since John and Andy weren't here. Period 3 was Commerce, in which we went to the computer rooms to do some more of our assignment. I really hope I finish soon; what with the Geo assignment and the PE assignment. Oh, I can't wait for the holidays. But, yeah, pretty much the entire period was a bludge. Most computer periods are. Lunch was 13 with me, Kevin and Victor, since Ebony was with her friends.

Next was School Sport, or rather it would be if not for that dust storm this morning. Like in PE, it was still a health hazard (it apparently was to be for the whole day). So what we did was go to one of the Ag rooms and watch 'Groundhog Day.' So what we did was go to one of the Ag rooms and watch 'Groundhog Day.' (OK, that was intentional. If you have watched the movie, you will find that funny. If not, you will most likely be completely confused. Watch it.). While we watched the movie, we also played cards. After Sport (in name only), I got home, and did some assignment. At around 7, we left for hapkido.

Shirisha was there (she wasn't there on Monday, apparently), but Grandmaster Geoff wasn't. I'm not entirely sure why, but I suspect he'll tell us so next Monday, if he's there. Instead, we had this black belt (I'm not sure of his name, but he's there a bit), who worked us quite a bit. After my class off on Monday, I was still working into it. At the end of the class, while waiting around in meditation, I saw the receptionist bring out an orange belt. My heart rose in anticipation; and sank in disappointment, after it transpired that it belonged to somebody else. Soon, soon I will get it. When I got home, I blogged, but not enough. So here I am.

To comments now, one from Mango.
*Mango: Curse you and your radians! I've known about that calculator function for ages, man, and you take it off me. That just ain't fair! Lol.

And that was my day. Sorry for the later post, although it was a much longer one. I do like the long post, though you may have already known that. I just like to write a lot. Anyway. I'll attempt to get back on schedule soon, though we'll just have to see.

Don't I love to quote Queen,

Hapkido on Holidays

I really can't think of a title right about now. Because I didn't do too much gaming today, and, well, it wasn't a really eventful day. I also don't feel like a list, so expect a shorter post. But, as I said, I did do hapkido, so that's... something (actually, thank god it is something, otherwise this post would be very similar to Sunday's. That's the holidays for you.).

I woke up around 8, and then spent some time blogging. Around 10-ish, I went on BFH, as well as going on and off MSN and blogging for a while. I'm now Level 8, which at this rate is pretty good. Today was also all about missions, as I completed mission after mission. I also rented a new gun and jacket, because I had spare points and figured I might as well. It's fun. I played that for a few hours, but soon people started dropping off the server. In the end, I was playing with John against two Royals, and John was doing stunts in a plane. So when he left, I'd had enough. So I left as well. And at that point, I was just about to start blogging when it was dinner. And after dinner, I had to go to hapkido.

Shay didn't come tonight, as she's in Canberra. There was only something like 12 in class. Even Grandmaster Geoff wasn't doing the lesson tonight, so we had a black belt I'd only seen around; he hadn't taught before, as far as I know. The lesson itself was a good way to take my mind off BFH, and in the lesson, we did some rolls, but no signatures. Ah well. I learnt two things: I can do a left back-roll from a standing position; and I'm shocking at right back-rolls from a standing position. I actually learnt the first one trying to do a back-roll before class and forgetting to kneel down first. The second one, well, I tried doing what I did with the left back-roll and almost cracked my neck. So that might need some work. And when I got home, I blogged and talked on MSN.

Comments now, 2 from 2 people.
*Anon: Hello, Victor. It became increasingly obvious, as Ebony wouldn't say that, and you were on MSN at the time. So, yeah. You are Victor.
*Ebony: Yes, yes, you're an aeroplane. And the thing about your second paragraph about filling up space: sadly, completely and utterly true. I don't like posts under 500 words. Call me crazy, I just don't. I don't enjoy them. Not a bit. It might be weird, but who ever said I was normal?

And that was my day. Sorry for the late post, they're getting, if not on time, then less late. Holidays strike again. I just need to remember not to game so much and I'll be fine.

There we go, a post that isn't rushed the night of the next day,

Enjoyment and Interviews

It may have been Parent-Teacher Interviews today, but it was also a really fun day. We tricked teachers, watched videos, and basically did no real work all day. Hell yeah. It was an awesome Thursday.

Period 1 was Science, in which we did some work on DNA. That was a pretty good period, because it raised so many questions. From a science nerd point of view, an answer that raises questions is something worth getting into. And DNA did that. How does that determine this? What proteins do which, and how? So on and so forth. Point is, it's interesting. To me. Period 2 was Computer Maths, which was an awesome period. Rawson usually comes late to Computer Maths periods, and it just so happened that the room next door to the computer lab (we were in Room 10, the computer lab was Room 11) was open and unlocked. So we started to go into there, just for some warmth. Then someone hit on the idea of getting everybody into the room, and pretending to do work (believe me, I'm building to something here). So we did. Anyway. Everyone in the class eventually comes to class, and goes into the room. Our heads are down, and we are looking like an ordinary class. The door is closed, but the windows are open. (I'm trying to paint a mental picture here). And along comes Rawson. Who promptly stops. Just think, you've come to teach and your class is missing. He looks around, with his back to us. Meanwhile, we're all trying to suppress a laugh, lest he find us. Rawson eventually turns around; and sees people in the room next door. He puts 2 and 2 together (as, well, a Math teacher should), and finds us. Apparently, he was about to go to the Maths staffroom to try to figure out what was going on. Which would have been epic. But, he does find us, and he's not bitter or anything. It was a really awesome joke. The period itself was a bludge, as I just mucked around on Geometer's Sketchpad. Long story short: Kickass period.

Recess was 13. Periods 3 and 4 were double Ag, which was almost as awesome. We started off filling out a sheet, and if you finished it correctly in time, then you got a Mars Bar. I was one of those who did. Mmm, chocolate... We then, once that was done, drew pictures of potatoes and described them. Less awesome, but still good. Because it involved essentially no thought. Or artistic skill, because, well, you're drawing a potato. And then, once that was done, we watched a video on potato growing. No prizes for guessing what topic we're doing in Ag. Then it was Lunch, which was the usual.

Period 5 was English, in which we got our assessments back. I got 13/20, which was a mark higher than average. I'd just like to point out 3 things here: The average mark for the Year 10 English assessment was 59%; for the Year 10 English half-yearly: 65%; and for the Year 9 English half-yearly: 49%. Are we seeing a pattern here? Something to do with English assessments being marked way down? Anyway. Take from that what you want. The whole period was talking about the assessment, as well as Tiana having trouble differentiating between right and left. To the class. Then taking a few minutes as she works it out which way is right by waving her hands. Funny stuff. Last was History, in which we watched a video. And that was my school day. Though not the end of my day at school.

It was Parent-Teacher interviews today, and considering how the first one started around 3:45, there was no real point in me leaving. So I killed time by listening in to Ebony and Sandie doing an IPT assessment. The Library was closed. When the family arrived around 3:35, Ebony waved to EJ, and EJ tried to escape. The results of yesterday's events still linger. Since we get out early tomorrow, I'm hoping I can go back again. It's always funny. The interviews themselves went surprisingly smoothly, as the English one went better than I expected. I dodged a bullet there. And we managed to sneak a few subjects in while waiting and while the teachers had spare times, so we finished 20 minutes early. And when I got home, I went on MSN, and surfed the net. And here I am, blogging.

To comments, 2 from 2 people. Ebony seems to be getting back to the very long comments, and the anonymous commenter strikes again.
*Ebony: The Kolodziej thing was indeed fun. Stop bagging the PE sub, he was a good teacher. He raised many good points. The whole 'kissing... lucky' thing was funny; I wish I got lucky! (That's only half a joke.) Anyway. Aunty Pat was stupid. We already know Wednesdays are epic (although last time, you called them OK. Hmm.).
*Anon: For some reason, you seem to be saying you are an aeroplane. Perhaps you could be a sheep. (There is a long story behind those 2 incredibly random sentences. Suffice to say there is an in-joke: I am a sheep, Ebony is an aeroplane. Why either of those things are is beyond me. And I came up with one part. Yes, I know I'm weird. It's fun!)

And that was my day. One more day of term left, and then it's 2 weeks of relaxation! Well, not really, I've got assignments to do. But for many intents and purposes, relaxation. Everyone needs a break, and this is ours. And I think we're welcome to it.

This was a bloody awesome day,

A Really Good Tuesday

Mainly because less than half the class was here, through a combination of practice for the musical, excursions, and just plain sickness. So we had to do less than half the work. I love bludging.

Period 1 was Geography, which was doing more work from the textbook. But, as I said, not many people were in class (about 13), so we didn't do much. Period 2 was Science, and as it was Period 2 on Tuesday, people were at Glenwood Reading. I remember when I was. Those poor souls. Anyway. So there were about 10 people. We did this test about reproduction. But as 10 people were there, Robson ended up giving us half of the answers. I absolutely suck on anatomy. Genetics I get. Anatomy I don't. Particularly plant anatomy. Anyway. Recess was the usual.

Period 3 was Ag, which was just me finishing off some work I hadn't done yet. When that was done, I read. Well, obviously. After that was PE, and Wilson didn't come. So, after about 15 minutes, Faulds came along. The work was NTR (copy stuff from the overhead), but the period was a good one. As everyone of Ebony's 'people' were away, she sat next to me, and we promptly got into an argument about how weird she is, that continues still. She insists that she is not that weird; I think that she is very weird. One example is the voices in her head. No, seriously. All 22 + 2 of them. The reasons behind it are very complex. Anyway. Lunch was a game of 13, that involved into throwing cards and shouting 'shuriken!' Why is a very good question.

Period 5 was Maths, and as 10 people were here (including Ihsas), we did some Year 11 Maths. Which turned out to be more complicated than it seemed. Last was Drama. I talked to Ebony on the way to the Art room, where we had Drama today (we had a sub). At one point, she stretched out her arms, and ran ahead, saying 'I'm an aeroplane!' And no, I'm not kidding. I claimed this as substantial, and possibly conclusive, evidence of her weirdness. At the Art room, there were 4 people: Ebony, Allie, me and the teacher. Later on, 3 others came, who I think were Shane, Kale and Tri (but don't quote me), for a total of 6 students and a sub. So for the class, we looked at all the art projects. I also did the Maths question from the last period.

When I got home, I blogged, but as usual I kept procrastinating and procrastinating. Things such as MSN and Monty Python got in the way. Both awesome things we're talking about here. If you don't have MSN, there's something wrong with you. If you don't like Monty Python, there's something really wrong with you. Just saying.

And that was Tuesday. A pretty good day overall, I'd say. I love when no work is done.

Less than half the people, less than half the work: I like the sound of that,

Half-Yearlies '09: Agriculture

Well, this is it. The big one. Ag exams and I don't get along well. This is the way it's always been. In other news, Victor and Ebony begin their comment strike for reasons unknown. All this and more, in today's edition of AB: A Blog (cue the theme music. Wait, I don't have theme music. I need theme music. I am weird.).

Period 1 was Science, which was trying to get an electric motor, much like this post here, back in March. That met with limited success, going through 4 paperclips, about 3 coils of wire, and other assorted materials. The best we got was the coil spinning for about 10 seconds at voltage setting 4, which involved several sparks. We also ran into other, more retarded problems, such as touching the wire while it was on (Alan), and attempting to make the motor go when the wire wasn't even attached (all of us). We tried fixing up the motor, moving the magnet, turning up the voltage, when I looked to the left and realised the wire was unattached. It was a period of unsuccessfulness, which surprisingly is actually a word. Proof. Next was Computer Maths, which would have been fun, except Rawson wasn't here, so we were stuck with some substitute teacher. It was brilliant planning, with about 6 people bringing Maths textbooks, to share with 30 people. So that was a complete and utter bludge. I spent some of the time cramming for Ag, and more time working out the formula for Pac-man (I got as far as his mouth is between 70 and 80 degrees before it set in that what I was doing was completely pointless). It was a long Maths lesson.

Recess was more 13, with John, Andy and Kevin. Period 3 and 4 were double Ag. The first part of the lesson was spent talking to Ebony, as Corinne wasn't here (and neither was Victor). She somehow made me taste a leaf (long story short, I have no idea), and the 'secret/question' game came to real life, with significant problems on my part on trying to think of a question. I spent 10 minutes trying to think of one, and in that I was yelled at by Ebony (scaring the hell out of me, and presumably Schippers behind us), and annoyed by cows. The question wasn't even good. If you are reading this Ebony, I can't think of questions, and for the love of god comment. The second part of the period was spent cramming, which was fairly successful. It was pretty repetitive, and I zoned out more than once. I need to stop doing that.

Lunch was more 13, with me winning only once, I think, through a sheer fluke. I had pretty average luck. Period 5 was English, which was spending the first 20 minutes trying to study (though it degenerated quickly). We then spent 10 minutes reading through a bit of 'Macbeth,' and then it was time to go to the hall for our exam. I spent essentially the whole thing in 'go,' as I realised that 'ready' could really hurt my chances. Although, it was a fairly short test, so I didn't get up to 'zoom.' I finished with something like 15 minutes to go, and spent that time checking my answers, writing my name, and signing things in pencil. I got bored. It was easier than I thought it would be, but it wasn't easy, if that makes sense. All I can say is I hope I pass, because I don't like Ag exams (though this one could be an exception). At home, I studied a bit for Science, as well as talking on MSN with Victor, Ebony and Amy, though not all at once. Around 6:45, we all left for hapkido.

Grandmaster Geoff got back today, who has become a Grandmaster over the 6 weeks he has been away. And he has learnt things from his trip, with no slacking at all allowed. There was little respite. But, it was a great session, as I went through a lot of drills, and Grandmaster Geoff is funny. I learnt that: I really need work on my kicks; I really need to learn how to backroll; and it is not fun forward rolling on an injured elbow (maybe injured is over-doing it. But it is not in perfect condition.). We finished around 8:30, and when I got home, I virtually went straight on my laptop, so that I could blog about my day before bed.

To comments, or rather, comment. Victor and Ebony insist on not commenting, for some bizarre reason, and I thought I wouldn't get any. But, I'd like to thank Amy for her support. Hooray for you! (Boo to you two. Comment, people!)
*Amy: Thank you, it would look sad if my comment section went by without a comment. And take that indeed, Ebony and Victor! My comment section remains unempty!

Well, that was my Monday. The only exams left are Science and Maths, and I'm fairly confident about both (well, more so than Ag). Again, I'd like to thank Amy, boo Ebony and Victor for not commenting, and I remain semi-hopeful about the Ag exam. I will be looking forward to Thursday afternoon. Much celebrations will be had.

6 down, 2 to go,

Friday Weirdness

Because today was weird. Also, I couldn't think of any better title. My brain switches off at 3 on Friday. Anyway. To my day, which surprisingly involved no pain from the braces. And I know it's a late post; it's only partially my fault. OK, almost all my fault. Shut up.

I got to school around 8:30, and showed everybody my braces (calling Ian, Kevin, Andy and Mango my 'shiny metal brothers.'). Then, when the bell went, I went to my first Period, which was Geo. That was basically doing some work on basic Geo stuff, like aspect and topographic maps. Just some basic stuff. Then, it was Science, which was really bludgy. We just talked about an experiment that the class did yesterday, when I wasn't here. So I just sat and listened. Then, it was double Recess, because Assembly was cancelled, due to rain. So Andy, Kevin, John, Eric and I played 13 for over an hour. It was awesome. I love 13.

Period 3 was Ag, and because about half the class was at cross-country finals or donating blood (one I'm not allowed to do as I'm too young, the other I wouldn't possibly be able to do), we just talked about electives in Years 11 and 12. According to Schippers, Ag is a good way of improving our UAI. We'll have to see. I also did some work on my book, and I'm fleshing out the plot a bit. It's coming along well. Next was PE theory, but since Wilson was at cross-country, we just sat undercover, and I played 13 with Tan, Hewie, Alan and Ebony. That was fun, as I love 13 (wow, déjà vu.). After that was Lunch, which was very eventful. The first half was spent playing 13, as usual. So that's over 2 hours today of 13. I also played the best hand I've ever had (I'm counting my four 2s). First I played 2 3s, and nobody beat it for some reason (probably to keep bombs). Then, I played a double bomb, as I was hoping somebody would play two 2s. Then, I finished with a 10, making it the first time I can remember in which somebody played all their cards in one go. Then, the second, strange part began. For some reason, some Year 9s through a school shirt and a bag full of clothes at me (why, I have no idea). They both missed. But, when I went to pick up the shirt, and throw it back, it brushed Andy's noodles, and they went everywhere. So I had to clean it up, while he went to get more noodles. The mood was killed after that, so I went group-hopping. I started at May Lyn, Justin and Patrick, and I ended up at Victor, Ebony and Ian, as well as Ebony's whole 'before group.'

Period 5 was Maths, which was just doing rote work. Not too simple, not too hard. After that was Drama, which was a very ridiculous period. We were supposed to (among other things) walk around the room with our eyes closed, trying not to bump into anything. When the class tried to explain to Kolodziej that it was retarded and basically impossible, he only said 'Use your spatial awareness!' From what he makes it out like, it seems like the Force. When the bell went, we went home, and around 6 (yes, I'm skipping a lot), I went to Shay's place.

At Shay's, for dinner, I had Thai food (mmm, Thai food...), and I also played on their Wii (I can bowl backwards. Cool!). I played some DS, as well as went a bit on my laptop. I also talked with Shay and Lachlan (as you do when you're over their house), and watched Shay play Sims. My brother got to their place around 10, and we left around half an hour later. And now I'm blogging, Saturday morning around 11.

To comments now, 5 from 2 people. I thought I was only going to get the first 3. Thanks for commenting, Victor!
*Ebony: Yes, you have nothing to say. And I have nothing to reply to.
*Ebony: Second, don't forget second!
*Ebony: Thank you. I think. And 42 is better than 3 (though 3 is pretty good).
*Victor: OK, OK, it is. I know.
*Victor: I had a check; it was actually Shafi. Proof. You may not say firstings. Only Shafi.

Well, that was my Friday. Sorry about the very late post, I'll try not to do it again. And please comment, everyone. I don't expect many, of course, but I haven't not got a comment since the 26th of March. Isn't that awesome?

This post was way too late,

One Weird Day

I was going to say 'A Weird and Wacky Wednesday,' but I've already used 'A Weird and Whimsical Wednesday.' So 'One Weird Day' it is. All this randomness and more, on today's edition of AB: A Blog (I think it's an awesome name. If you can think of a better one, and I doubt it, tell me. But none of this 'Victor/Ebony is cool.' type stuff. Anyway. My day.)

I got to school, with my new backpack, and we started talking. Then Ebony came up and hugged Victor again, which I'm getting used to very quickly. She (Ebony) then asked me if I, and I quote, 'named my backpack.' Was I supposed to? How about... AB: A Backpack (yes, I love these.) Take that! Role Call was thinking about my book, and getting this huge list of job options. In book form. OK... Period 1 was Geography, which was a bit of a bludge. I love bludging. Next was Science, which was doing a small amount of work, as well as me doing some of that square root-iteration-negative one-chaos stuff from yesterday, also known as ultra-nerdism. I found out after just 30 iterations, and a change of .00000001 to the beginning number, it loses all similarities. It's like we started off with completely different numbers. But, I digress. Recess was more 13, of course, with the usual people. Period 3 was g, which was the bludgiest period I can remember that wasn't in the last week of school. The first half of the period was spent doing a survey at the computer labs, and the second half was spent (and I'm not exaggerating here), lying down face-up across two tables, listening to Queen and playing Solitaire on my iPod. Awesomeness to the max. Then, it was Lunch, which was playing 13, 31, and Go Fish (for some reason) with Kevin and Andy, as well as John and Victor in the second half (John had to go to ice-skating, Victor had to go to Ebony.).

Sport was a weird one. From the start of sport up until quarter to 2, we walked the cross-country course. Just walked. I played Sticks, once, listened to some music, then later reverted to singing. Yeah. It was that boring. The last 45 minutes was spent playing more cards, 13 and 31, with Kevin, Victor, and Hewie twice. I sucked in all rounds of both games, bar one 31 round. Then, I went up to the library, for the first time in a while, and got some books, and then when I was home, read and watched TV. Nobody was on MSN at the time. Then around 7-ish, I left for hapkido.

There were 15 people in our group today, including the teacher, Emmanuel. Shay wasn't there, so I was partnered with a white belt named Dylan, who should probably be orange belt already. That's my opinion anyway. And I left my watch on for the first 5 or so minutes. That was embarrassing, but I got away with no push-ups. Phew. It was a tiring session, this one, with the first 15 minutes involving 30 each of push-ups, crunches, triceps push-ups (which I hate) and toe touches, as well as 140 star-jumps. But, I actually like these type of classes. I can really see the differences (example: I can now beat Ian in an arm wrestle.). And here I am around 9:15, blogging.

Comments: 4 from 4 people. which is pretty good, compared to the last few days. Ah, the glory days. I can remember when I got something like 21 (though, in all fairness, that's because Victor and Shafi put in something like 6 comments each, most of only a sentence or two.). But, replies.
*Victor: Not needed. Preferred. Your comments are not needed, though they are preferred. There is a difference. And I didn't notice that second comment thing; I just like to rant.
*Anon: Doesn't take a genius to work out that this is Dad. And, yes, I know.
*Mango: 'This comment is third.' You forgot to mention that that comment was pointless, retarded, and a complete rip-off of me and Victor.
*Ebony: I beat you in Dance?! Awesome... And what I meant by 5 people and barely enough to play is that usually we get 4, and sometimes Andy or John are late. If they're away, we're screwed. And you will probably beat us (or at least Andy. Lol. He has the worst luck); we ain't too good, with the possible exception of John. Nerdier... that is true. I am one of the nerdiest people I know. And I am over it, I accept I have to get them, and it doesn't phase (sic?) me much anymore. I like Wednesdays as well; they're also hapkido days. And I love 'taking umbrage.' Also a side note; I am this close to paragraphing some of my replies. This comment was long, and awesome. But still long.

And that was my weird and wacky Wednesday. Thursday will probably be a normal day. I might do a bit on my book. I really need to finish the plot, and work on some characters. Though, there's no rush. Anyway.

Long post: Good...

A Trip to the Orthodontist

Before I go on, several titles were rejected as being some of the worst puns that have ever been told or will be. Please pay your (lack of) respects to 'Al-X-Ray' (Alex Ray, Al X-Ray) and AB X-Ray (something with letters). Now that that is out of the way, today I did 3 periods of what should have been work and one that was, in fact, work. Let's see how.

My Mum drove me to school because my brother was sitting the selective schools exam, at Hurlstone. If he makes it in, he could be the only blue-eyed and blonde-haired non-boarder (too many hyphens) in the whole of Hurlstone. Period 1 was Maths, which was watching Faulds muck around on Graphmatica (Geometer's Sketchpad > Graphmatica. Yes. I know I'm weird. And proud of it!) with squared and cubed numbers, and inequalities. On the plus side, there was no work. Period 2 should have been Drama, but instead we went outside and did 'Year 10 Peer Support-This-Should-Have-Been-Cancelled-Years-Ago.' They basically gave us a sheet of paper and said 'Go split up into 3 groups/groups of 3 (genius), and write about conflict!' Some of the questions (and some of what I would have written) were: 'What is the conflict?' (I don't know whether to rip this sheet of paper up or burn it), 'What are their (involved people) fears?' (The dark, spiders and flying, and 'What are their needs?' (This one writes itself.) Again, at least it got us out of work. Recess was talking, and we did some more dancing, as usual. Period 3 was Commerce. Kearney was away, so we had Gippel, who I will say is nice, but he's not cut out to teach Commerce (a bit like Arriola in that respect.). Next was Science, and since there was a Creating Connections excursion, as well as a Sports Science one, classes were practically empty. So they brought 10I in, including Eric, Kevin, Victor, May Lyn and Rayan. In class, we made a motor out of a transformer, one 50 cm length of copper wire, 2 alligator clips, 2 weights, 2 magnets and 2 paperclips. If you want to know how, it's probably on Youtube. Much fun was had when we set alight a tissue (it smelt like popcorn. For some reason.), and when sparks flew between paperclips and copper wire. Lunch, 1st half was spent playing 13, to more success than yesterday.

A short rant: I hate people calling me by my wrong name, or mispronouncing my last name. Let me set the record straight: My name is not Ben, despite Ejsak, Faulds, and numerous other teachers' claims (apparently there was a guy years ago who looked like me called Ben. So teachers' brains short-circuit. I pity anyone in a few years who looks like me. They'll be called Ben, then Alex. Won't that be confusing.). My name is not Ian (Shafi: I am tall and Caucasian. Ian is short and Asian. I don't know how you confuse us.). And my last name ends with an -ay sound. Not an -ee sound. I've had this problem since I can remember. Someone, somewhere, will eventually get it right. OK. Moving on.

Lunch, 2nd half was spent sitting in the office, reading and waiting for my Mum to go get my brother so I can go get my X-rays done. Once we were at the clinic, we waited for about 10 minutes, then I got called in. I took my glasses off, and was told to go stand with my head in this helmet/crane/umbrella thing (it's hard to explain). Unfortunately the doctor forgot to adjust it, so I walked head-first into it (see, no glasses). That X-ray took about 15 seconds. Then I went to stand in another thing, and that X-ray was seemingly over before it began (seriously. I stepped into it, and then she said it was over.). Then we went to Westfields, where my Mum got new sunglasses and I got a doughnut. At home, I spent the time looking for my Maths textbook (please tell me someone's seen it), doing my Research Action Plan for Tuesday (1 down, 3 to go), and watching TV. I also found 2 websites. FAIL Blog, documenting the retarded things of the world with the simple word 'Fail.' My favourite so far is this one, which simply says 'Why are there school?' That is just sheer genius/retardedness. The other site is a shirt-selling site called One Horse Shy for some arbitrary but intriguing reason. I'll make myself extremely clear: This line of shirts is tailor-made for me (That joke was either really good or really bad. I can't tell which.).

An interesting day, I'd say. X-rays, retarded Peer Support-y things and bludge, bludge, bludge. Friday, I'm guessing will be more work, but hopefully that's only because any less work and school will be cancelled for the day. (I can dream, can't I?) If tomorrow is anything like today, I hope it never ends (because on Tuesday everything's due. *sigh*).

I might need braces (just imagine what I'd look like with them. Lol.),

The Randomness Striketh

That's right, no more song titles! But, because everything sounds better when you make it sound old-timey and slightly retarded (proof. That took ages to find. Then I found out there was a search function on the website.), I made it 'striketh.' (Oh, I've also added a small thing at the side of my page: a word count of my blog.)

I got to school, the usual. Period 1 was English, which was copying stuff out of the booklet (Joy.). Next came Maths, which involved Mango coming out with 4 consecutive numbers multiplied together, plus 1, equals a square number. That square number, square-rooted, is the product of the first and fourth consecutive numbers, plus 1. Proving that took up a good part of the period (In A1, we do that. It's called boredom. Why we do maths is probably why we're in A1. At least that's my guess.), but it works all the time. Proof here. Recess involved talking about the band and what we think is the best song we've ever written. Eric thought 'State of Mind,' Cam thought 'Now She's Gone.' I'm leaning towards 'Where Have You Gone,' just for the sheer catchiness factor. Speaking of music, the song stuck in my head is a parody Abridged song called 'Villain' (link). Period 3 was Drama, which was doing some mime stuff. It's harder than it looks (sorta). Next was Commerce, which was ultra-random, as we split into groups of 5 and pretended we were all in 11th century English villages to talk about common law. Or something like that. Fun, but incredibly random at the same time. But the pinnacle of the randomness of the day was Lunch, in which we (me, Cam, John, Eric, Mango, Victor) went to Room 7 to look at Matt dancing, as well as watching 2 giant chess games, getting a magazine off Ian, and making $2 for more random things involving Room 7 and the magazine (separately). Eric also listened to Hamish and Andy on my iPod. Periods 5 and 6 were PE, dance specifically. We did some work, and we talked about meeting times and exactly how I was getting the steps wrong and what details I could do to fix them. School then ended, but the randomness still didn't stop, as the bus driver somehow manages to miss a turn with little traffic, extending the bus trip by about 10 minutes, and then when I go to ask him about it when he's stopped, he's on his phone saying 'I've missed the turn!' Give the man a medal, he's a genius. Luckily the rest of the journey went fairly smoothly, and I did no homework (as I had none), and went on MSN, the net and TV. Basic night really.

Such sums up a day of randomness, links and localised craziness (hmm, that doesn't sound too bad, localised craziness. Good name for a song?). I end with a quick quote of my own creation, which also happens to be my MSN screen name (another good idea for a song name came last night, in MSN: 'Human, But Otherwise Alright'. Crossed messages, but they work really well together I think). Comment if you can!

Friday, w00t!

Thank God it's Friday! But work isn't over for the week, I have cricket in the morning. It's a two-dayer, but it might rain tomorrow, and if so, it'll just be a one-dayer. Anyway, my day (and I'm writing this on my friend Mick's computer, and I've seen faster snails. So bear with me.)

Today was mufti, and I wore my 'A salt with a deadly weapon' shirt. I think it's funny. Anyway, Period 1, I think, was Maths, with Faulds, which was just basically doing an introduction to a topic we did last year. W00t. Next was Drama, which was some impromptu work, my first prac in ages. We (ie me and my partner) did pretty well, I think. After that, since it's Friday, was Assembly, in which the hall was very cramped, and there were some guest speakers; firemen. The assembly went massively over time, so Recess was kept the same length, and Period 3 and 4 each shortened to about 25 minutes. Recess was talking about everything and nothing, so naturally I was all for it. After that was Commerce, in which Kearney was just... dictator-like. Kearney was talking to Kimberly, and the conversation went something like this (Kearney speaks first): 'Listen!' 'I am listening, Sir!' 'Shut up and listen!' 'But I am listening, Sir!' Etcetera until Kearney tells Kim to get out of the class. WT7? (I say that. To quote Abridged: 'Hey, shut up, it's what I do!' It's an actual quote by the Nameless Henchmen who is always talking about his hair. Yeah.) So in the end it was great that the period was shortened and we got into Science. That was just doing some work. Lunch was also chatting, and with the thankful absence of Matt, everything flowed pretty good. More chatting and joking. I also sat on a chair, that turned out to have a leg missing and I almost fell off. Sometimes I feel like a retard, seriously.

Period 5 was English (we didn't do that much work), and the oddest thing happened. Besides me getting Oishi's MSN (a new girl, very friendly), which I'll have to put on my account when I get home, at one point, Corinne just started staring at me. For a while actually. It was really unnerving. I put it down to just getting lost in thought; I do it all the time. Anyway, next was History, which was basically doing nothing again. Hooray for bludging! I took the bus home, and ended up having to mow some of the lawn (*sigh*), and then it was cricket training, which was fairly average. Jacob started to hassle me about going to the Veronicas' concert (light-heartedly, of course), which I responded to him with 'I went with 2 14 year-old girls.' Problem solved. Remind me to thank Shay later.

Anyway, that was my day. When I get home I'll have to get on MSN. (Yes, I have no better ending than that. Sue me.)

Make sure the computer you're on actually bloody works,
